The Alpha King Is My Second Chance Mate -
CHAPTER 33— TORN
After Quinn's conversation with Delilah, she'd left for Jeo's office. Before leaving the pack tonight, ameeting had to be held in order to inform the pack members of her sudden departure, and it couldonly be called by the alpha.
Thus, why she had to tell him; so he could arrange it.
However, on her way here, she kept wondering how he'd feel about her decision, how he'd react toher words. But did it even matter? Whether or not he approved, she'd leave.
There was nothing here for her...
Lifting her hand out of her pocket, she knocked twice on his office door, then twisted it open. Hereyes searched for him behind his desk before she even stepped inside.
As expected, he was there, buried deep into whatever it was he was reading.
Quinn stepped inside, closing the door behind her. “Alpha...?"
"Quinn, I thought I told to take some time off. Niphrone isn't something to play around with.”
“I'm better now and besides, I only came here to tell you something important.”
“And what's that?” He looked up from his desk, hand clenching around the pen he held. “Speak...”“I don't think so.” He got up, grabbing her wrist and pulling her away, but Kathrine grabbed ontothe opposite hand. “Don’t I want to know what happened too? I'm her mother, I should also knowwhat's wrong.”
“This is...” Derrick started. “This between me and my daughter.”
“She's my daughter too. Sit Quinn, let's talk about this together...'m a woman, I'll understand you alot more.”
"But I..."
“Shh...sit down while I get you some water, your forehead is all sweaty...you look thirsty.” She pulledQuinn back to the couch, gently sitting her against it before walking out.
Derrick sat down beside Quinn. “If you don’t want to speak about it, don't. You can tell metomorrow.”
“That's what I can't do, dad...I have no tomorrow here.”
“What? Why?”
“That's because I'm leaving the pack tonight.”
At the same time, Kathrine walked back in with a cup of water, handing it to her and then taking aseat. “I know I haven't been a good mother for a while now... and I'm sorry. Even if we haddifferences, I never should've turned my back on you. I don't deserve your forgiveness, but I stillwant to be a part of your life...as a mother; a supportive one.”
Quinn took a sip of the water. Lies, they were all lies...groundless words, that harmed instead ofcomforting her.
Blinking away the tears that gathered in her eyes, Quinn nodded. “I've never hated you, mom, soyou don't have to apologize.”
“You might not, but you should.”
It was true, she should hate this woman...but she really didn't. “No...I can never hate you.”
“Neither I...” She reached for Quinn's face, turning it towards her. “What is it that's bothering you,my sweetheart?”
The smile on her lips wasn't as loving and gentle as her touch, and yet, Quinn smiled back.
The poison was bitter, but it was also sweet.
