The Alpha King's Hybrid Mate -
Chapter 37
Five days later
It was the hunting festival, kids cheered happily as they ran within the pack. The hunting festival was a major festival in the pack and was as important as the mating ceremony. It happens once every year, and it is also a great opportunity for singles to choose whom they want their mate to be, and pray towards it.
"Close your eyes." Killian smiled as he entered Sara's room.
"What are you up to now?" Sara asked with a smile while Killam shrugged.
"Just close your eyes, you will know very soon." Killian insisted and Sara sighed. She dropped the cloth she was knitting and slowly closed her eyes.
Killian walked towards her, dropped a box beside her, and took out a beautiful, sparkling ocean-blue gown.
"Open your eyes," Killian ordered, and Sara slowly lifted her eyelids. Her mouth dropped and her eyelids fluttered at the beauty that reflected in her eyeballs.
She was dazed by the beauty of the gown, the dazzling gleam it exuded made it top- notch. Oyster shells and beads were craftily arranged on the dress, which added amazingly to its beauty.
"Oh my God! This is strikingly gorgeous." She exclaimed as she sprang up from her bed and grabbed the dress from Killian.
"Wow! I have never seen such a beautiful dress before." She said with a surprised tone and Killian smiled.
"It's the hunting festival; of course, you have to be the most beautiful lady out there," Killian said while Sara gasped in awe.
"That's very thoughtful of you. But now I kind of feel useless." She said with a slight frown.
"Why would you say that?" Killian asked her, and Sara shook her head.
"You got me such a beautiful dress, and I didn't even get you anything," Sara said, the frown still plastered on her face.
Killian smiled and wrapped his arms around her.
"It's the thought that matters; as long as we love each other, other things don't matter." He replied and Sara smiled.
"Having you as my husband is the greatest blessing of my life." She said, and her smile was back on her face.
"Same here."
She changed into the dress, and Killain couldn't help but gaze at her every second. She looked so elegant in the dress. She also didn't forget to use the beautiful hairpin that Killain had gotten her.
"Perfectly beautiful." Killian complimented, and Sara smiled.
"Let's get going; they must be waiting for us," Sara said, and Killian nodded.
People's eyes were fixed on Sara as she walked into the pack's square where the hunting was to be held.
"Isn't she so beautiful?" One of the crowds said.
"She looks so gorgeous and dignified in that dress, worthy of being our Luna." Another person added.
The hunting festival officially kicked off, dancers graced the occasion with their elegant dances, and single people also seized the moment and made their feelings known to the person they loved.
Sitting beside Killian were Sara and the elders. Clara made her entrance into the hunting ground. She stopped and took a brief look at Jared who slightly nodded at her. She smirked and continued her walk to her seat.
She watched Killian and Sara acting lovey-dovey, and she hissed.
"Let's see when you can continue your love act." She hissed.
Jared walked to the center of the sitting and called everyone's attention.
"As we all know, whoever has the most hunt within the stipulated time will be considered the winner of this year's hunt. Our Alpha has been the winner for three consecutive years, now it's everyone's opportunity to DETHRONE him as the winner." He said, stressing the dethrone part.
The whistle was blown, and all the young men, including Killian, got on their horses and headed towards the forest.
"You are never coming back," Clara muttered to herself with a smirk before setting her hateful gaze on Sara.
"Aren't you joining in the hunt?" An elder asked Jared.
"No, I am not. I am not feeling too fine, besides, I have something important to attend to." He replied and the elder nodded.
Killian headed straight into the forest, not knowing that a deadly trap was already prepared for him. He sighted a prey from afar and instantly chased it, not knowing that it was a trap.
He chased the animal deep into the forest until he suddenly lost sight of it.
He pulled his horse to a halt and sighed. He gulped down his water. He had relentlessly chased the animal very far and he still couldn't catch up with it.
He turned his horse in the other direction but was stopped by the smell that lingered in the atmosphere. It was the smell of gunpowder. He looked down and saw some black liquid, which he identified to be oil, lining the area where he was standing. Only then did he realize that it was a trap, but it was too late.
As he urged his horse into a run, a fire was thrown at him, and a loud noise erupted into the air, which threw him off the horse. He luckily survived the explosion, but he broke his arm instead.
As he tried to get on his feet, he heard a loud whistling sound coming straight at him. He slowly raised his eyes and could see about a thousand arrows coming at him, with no suitable means to dodge them.
