The Alpha King's Rebellious Queen
The Alpha King’s Rebellious Queen Chapter 108

Three days later, I was in the closet getting dressed for the baby shower. My mother and Izzy had put together quite the party. They had invited so many people I didn’t even know to the party. I had asked them to invite Queen Guinevere of the vampires. She and I had become friends since my coronation. We talked on the phone often. She was coming with her husband, King Romulus, along with their four-year-old son Dominic.

I was looking forward to the party even though I knew it would exhaust me to no end. Spending all of my time in either my room or Izzy’s craft room was starting to drive me nuts. I hated being idle, but I was just not physically able to do more. The twins were taking too much out of me. I did get fresh air by sitting outside on the balcony outside our room. Sometimes Cassius would shift into Enoch so his wolf could bond with the twins. I let Leonora forward to have time with her mate even though we couldn’t shift right now.

I sighed as I looked at myself in the mirror. I was wearing a very pink dress that hugged my body, showing off my huge belly. Despite being tight, it still managed to be comfortable on me. It was something that Izzy had picked out on one of our last shopping trips, and initially, I had sneered at it. But it had grown on me.

Cassius stood behind me wearing blue dress pants and a light blue button-up shirt. He placed his hands on my belly, and the twins responded. He leaned down to k**s my shoulder. “This dress looks beautiful on you. I am surprised you picked it out.”

I shrugged. “It’s comfortable. And I am all about comfort right now.”

He chuckled and worked his lips up to my neck to my cheek, and then he slowly spun me around, so we were facing each other. We kissed each other intensely for a few moments before we were interrupted by a loud knock on the door. He pulled back from me. “Your ride is here.”

I raised an eyebrow at him as he grabbed my hand and led me out of the closet. He opened the door, and we stepped out. There was one of those old lady scooters sitting there in front of Sam, my guard. “You got me an old lady scooter?”

Cassius nodded. “Yep. Look, they put skulls all over it.” He pointed to it as Sam chuckled.

I looked over the cart. It was all black with a little basket that was decorated with colorful skulls. “Did you do this, Sam?”

“Oh no, your majesty. This is the work of some of a couple of omegas.”

“Well, it is kind of cool. Be sure to thank them for me,” I said as I sat on the scooter. I looked up at Cassius. “Thank you, Cass.”

“Now you can get around the party without getting too exhausted.”

I made the scooter move, and it was surprisingly quick. Poor Sam had to leap out of the way. “Sorry, Sam,” I said as he laughed.

“Good thing he is quick on his feet,” Cassius laughed as he walked behind me.

I rode down the hall to the elevators where Terry was waiting. “Nice ride,” He smirked at me. He looked spiffy in grey pants and a white shirt with a grey jacket.

“Isn’t it, though. The omegas decorated it for me.”

“It’s so you, Jemma.” Terry laughed as the elevator door opened.

“Nick is downstairs with your brother and his mate,” Terry informed me. “And apparently, Izzy and your mother are fighting like cats and dogs.”

I rolled my eyes. “I thought they had gotten over their differences.”

He shrugged. “Poor Phil has been having a hell of a time keeping Melinda calm.”

We reached the ground floor, and I backed the cart out of the elevator. The hall was decorated with flowers and banners with my pups’ names on them. As we approached the ballroom, I saw so many people lined up waiting to get in. They parted to allow us through. We got into the ballroom, and I was amazed. “All of this for a baby shower?” I asked Terry as Cassius walked beside me.

“We are celebrating the future king and his twin, Jemma. That’s a big deal for us.”

I looked at Cassius, “I was hoping for just a simple party in the sitting room.”

“I know, love. But you know my mother wasn’t going to be satisfied with simple to celebrate the birth of her first grandchildren.” Cassius explained.

“I suppose.”

“Mommy!” I heard Nicky from somewhere in the crowd. He came running over to me wearing a cute little suit. Iain and Esther were just behind him,

“Holy s**t, Jemma is wearing pink,” Iain said to Cassius. “What did you bribe her with?”

“He didn’t bribe me with anything, Iain. I picked it out.” I responded to my brother.

His jaw dropped. “What have you done to my sister?”

Cassius shrugged and smirked. “Nothing she hasn’t asked me to do to her.”

“Come on, Nicky, hop on. Let’s go greet everyone.” I said to my son while my brother was still in shocked silence. Nicky climbed onto the cart and stood between my arms as I toggled the accelerator. “Hold on, baby,” I said to him as the thing lurched forward.

Cassius walked behind me as I greeted everyone who had come out for the party. I saw my Uncle Reed standing with the other elders. He looked tense as I saw my father glaring at him from across the room. “I guess you and my dad still haven’t made up,” I said to him.

He chuckled dryly. “Is it that obvious?” He smiled at me. “You look wonderful this evening.”

“Thank you, uncle. If you want, I can try talking to my dad again.”

He shrugged. “If you want, but you shouldn’t waste your time.”

I sighed sadly. It pained me that my father had such hatred for his mother’s brother. “Anyways, have you met my son, Nick?”

Uncle Reed looked at my pup and smiled, and held out a hand to him. “Hello, Nick.”

Nicky looked up at Reed with curiosity. “Hi.” He replied shyly.

“I am your Uncle Reed.”

“I am Prince Nicholas.” My son replied proudly.

Reed laughed. “Yes, you are.”

“It’s good to see you, uncle. I need to move on and greet everyone else.”

“Enjoy your party Jemma,” He winked at me.

I moved through the crowd, greeting others. I met Izzy’s sister Ruthie. She is Ava’s mother. Ava was at the party along with Zion, my father’s beta. They were standing with Deke. “Audrey wishes she could be here, but she needed to stay with Laila.”

“It’s alright, Deke. Give my best to Audrey.”

I spied King Romulus standing with the wizard Tuatha. The king of the vampires was dressed in an all-white suit which made him look like a ghost with his white hair and white eyes with pale, almost white skin. I stopped in front of them. “Is Guin here?”

The vampire smiled. “She is. Our son had a mild meltdown as toddlers often do, so she is taking care of him.”

“Oh. Will he be alright?”

“He will. Small children are what they are.” He smiled at my son, who was looking at him with fascination. “And this is your eldest child?”

“Yes, this is my son Nick.”

“Hello Nick,” The king of vampires spoke gently to Nick, who was mesmerized by him. “I am King Romulus. You may call me Rom.”

Nick looked at me and then at him. “Why is he so pale, Mommy?”

“Nick!”

“Do not be alarmed, Queen Jemma. I am not offended. The child should be allowed to express his curiosity,” King Romulus knelt beside us and looked directly at Nicky. “Child, we vampires are pale by nature as we do not spend much time in daylight.”

Nicky nodded at him. “Do you sparkle?”

The king of vampires let out a raucous laugh. “Only if I dump glitter on my head.”

Nicky giggled at him. “You are funny.”

“I like to think so,” Romulus stood up. “You look lovely tonight, Queen Jemma. And I rather like your transportation. Skulls for the win.”

“Thank you, Romulus. You know you can call me Jemma.”

I looked at Tuatha. The wizard was standing silently as I spoke with Romulus. He was wearing his usual crushed velvet black cloak while his white beard hung down almost to his knees. “So, do you have any new visions you wish to share tonight?”

The wizard shrugged. “No, but the night is still young.” He smirked at me.

“Well, I better get on up to the big table and get some food before these two start kicking,” I said as my stomach growled. Nicky giggled as the scooter lurched forward, and he nearly fell. He braced himself against my stomach. I parked the scooter and let Nicky off. Cassius helped me to my seat at the table. Nicky sat beside me.

The food was being served by omega waiters dressed in either peach or mint suits. They looked comical to me. One stood in front of me with a tray of chicken nuggets. They looked so ordinary in this fancy setting. I held up Nicky’s plate as the waiter served some for him. “Thank you,” I said to the omega as he moved away.

A few more of the waiters came around with different food. It didn’t take me long to have a full plate as the party got started. While we were eating, Izzy and Terry stepped up to the microphone. “Good evening, everyone. I want to thank you all for coming out to celebrate the forthcoming birth of our grandchildren. The future King of Lycanis and his twin sister who no doubt will make us all proud,” Izzy said to the crowd, who politely clapped.

I looked out at the various tables and saw Guinevere with her young son Dominic walking over to her husband. Romulus was sitting with Tuatha and a few others as Guinevere joined them. Dominic looked towards me with wide eyes, and I suddenly felt uneasy as one of the twins began to move around. Then both of them were moving and kicking. I gasped out in pain as Izzy was speaking.

Cassius looked at me with concern, “Love, what is wrong?”

I had my hand on my belly. “I don’t know. The twins are kicking a lot.” I sighed as he placed his hand on my stomach, and they seemed to calm.

Izzy and Terry were looking back at us. Terry stepped towards us. “Is everything alright?”

“I-I think so. The twins are just very lively tonight,” I replied to him. Sighing, I pushed back my seat and stood up. “I need to walk.” Luckily Izzy had finished her speech. Cassius went to retrieve my scooter. “No, Cass. I just think I need to walk on my own feet.”

“Need me to come with you?”

I shrugged. “If you want.”

He linked his arm with mine as my parents walked over to me. My mother clasped my other arm. “Are you alright, Jemma? Are you in labor?”

“No, Mom. They are just moving around a lot.” I told her.

She sighed and looked at my father. “Perhaps you should sit down.”

“Mom!” I barked at her. “I have done enough sitting. Cassius and I are just going to walk around some more. I’ll be fine.”

She sighed. “Okay. Your father and I will be over there with Terry and Izzy.”

“Okay, try not to kill each other,” I mumbled to her.

My father started laughing at that, and my mother growled lowly. “Come on, Melinda. Jemma said she is fine.” He leaned over and kissed my cheek. “You look beautiful tonight.”

I smiled at him. “Thank you, Dad.” Nicky trotted over to us. “Want to take a walk with us, Nicky?”

He nodded and clasped my hand. I wanted to greet Guinevere. I started feeling uneasy as we approached her and Romulus. Their son looked right at me. Dominic had pale skin like his father. But his hair was red like his mother’s. His grey eyes looked directly at me as we approached. His mother had been holding his hand, but he pulled away from her.

“Dominic,” Guinevere called to him.

He ignored her and ran straight for me. Guinevere and Romulus were right behind him. He stopped in front of me and sniffed the air, and then placed his hand on my belly, and I felt hard, frantic kicks. I started feeling light-headed from the pain of the kicks. Cassius had to hold me up. Guinevere rushed forward and picked up her son, who began to struggle in her hold.

“Oh Jemma, I am so sorry about Dominic.

The kicking stopped as soon as Dominic was pulled away. “It’s alright, Guin. He is just a child.”

Dominic broke free from his mother’s hold and touched my belly again. Again the intense kicking started. “Mate.” He finally spoke out.

Romulus was standing just behind his wife while Cassius was holding me. All of our eyes widened as Dominic looked up at me. “My mate is in there.”

Tuatha joined us a moment later with a knowing smirk on his wrinkled face. “Told you.”

“D-did Dominic just say, mate?” I finally spoke out.

Guinevere nodded slowly while her husband was still too stunned to speak. “I think he did.” She reached down to pick up Dominic, who cried out. “Dominic, did you just say your mate is in Jemma?”

He nodded. “Yes, why is she in there?”

“Well, she hasn’t been born yet,” Guinevere explained. She looked at me. “How is this possible?”

Cassius and I glanced at Tuatha. “Ask the wizard.”

Tuatha threw his hands up. “I had nothing to do with it. I was just repeating what I saw in my vision. Blame your Goddess.”

I took a deep breath. Cassius blinked his eyes. “So, my daughter is going to be mated with a vampire?” He nearly growled.

“I’m not much happier at this outcome either, Cassius,” Romulus said to him. “But my son is not a full vampire. He is still half wolf.”

“His wolf has already been speaking to him,” Guinevere chimed in.

I looked at Dominic, who was crying as his mother held him tight. “Hi Dominic,” I spoke to him as he trained his grey eyes on me. “What is your wolf’s name?”

He sniffled as he stopped struggling in his mother’s arms. He calmed a little as I spoke to him. “His name is Bori.” He replied.

“It’s Boreas,” Guinevere responded. “Dominic calls him Bori.”

I laughed and placed my hand on my belly. “Aurora and Boreas. Could Selene be any more on the nose with that combination?” I chuckled.

Guinevere set Dominic down. He looked longingly at my belly. I gently took his hand and placed it on my belly. “Her name will be Daisy, your mate.”

He smiled as I felt the kicks within me again. I exchanged a soft look with Guinevere as the males were still stuck in their anger to say anything. I looked at Cassius. “Please don’t be angry. The Goddess knows what she is doing. If she feels Daisy being mated to a hybrid is what is needed, then we have to have faith that she knows what she is doing.”

Cassius took a deep breath I know he was holding. “You are right, love.” He looked at Romulus. “You will not take my daughter from me.”

The vampire king rolled his eyes at my mate. “I have no intention whatsoever to take your child from you, Cassius. I may not be a follower of your Goddess, but Tuatha here has mentioned that the demons are rising and that my son would be a key in saving the world from them.”

“So, I guess mating him to a white wolf was something she felt was necessary,” I said out loud.

“This is only the first cross-species mating. There will be more,” Tuatha explained.

“So, we will have to work this out between us,” Romulus said to me. “Since they are both very young, we won’t be taking either one from their families. When they are older, we will work out visitation between them.”

“I agree with you, Romulus,” I said to him.

“Me too,” Guinevere nodded.

Cassius took a deep breath. “If that’s the way it’s going to be. Then that is what we will do,” He looked at Romulus. “Would you and your wife like to stay a couple of days so we can discuss this?”

“I think we will,” Romulus replied to him. He held out his hand to Cassius. “Family?” He laughed.

Cassius clasped his hand. “Family.”

My parents and Cassius’s parents were walking towards us. “Hey, what’s going on? I felt Cassius’s anger a moment ago.” Terry asked.

“Everything is fine, Dad,” Cassius replied.

“Are you sure?” My father stepped forward and shot an uneasy glance at King Romulus.

“I think my wife and child and I shall take our leave now. We will see you in the morning?” Romulus said to us.

“Yes, meet us for breakfast,” Cassius said to him. “We have much to discuss.”

The vampire king nodded and then took his wife’s arm and picked up his son before disappearing into the crowd. Tuatha had disappeared too.

“So, what are you guys discussing?” Terry asked Cassius.

I looked at my mate. ‘Should we tell them?’ I mind-linked him.

‘I think we should. But not here at the party,’ He replied.

I nodded. “Oh, just kingdom matters,” I replied to Terry.

He looked at Izzy and my parents. “You two are hiding something,” Terry said suspiciously.

“Dad, we will tell you what we were discussing with the vampires tomorrow. Okay,” Cassius said to his father. He clapped his hands. “Let’s go back to enjoying the party, shall we. Mom and Melinda put this shindig together, and we should enjoy it.”

“I did most of the work,” Izzy mumbled, which made my mother growl.

“You did not,” My mother responded.

Izzy rolled her eyes.

“Mom!” I spoke out to my mother. “Just calm down, both of you.”

Cassius linked his arm with mine and grabbed Nicky’s hand. “We are going to mingle for a while. You four have fun.” He leads us away from our parents.

I lasted another hour of mingling and conversing before I got too tired to even ride on my scooter. Cassius and I said our goodbye before he picked me up bridal style. My parents offered to watch Nicky for the night.

We reached our room, and Cassius set me on the bed and helped me out of my dress. I lay back on the bed, and almost instantly, my eyes closed, and I was snoring away. I awoke later to replace myself in Cassius’s arms while he slept soundly. Content I went back to sleep.
