The Alpha King's Rebellious Queen
The Alpha King’s Rebellious Queen Chapter 112

Jemma’s POV

One month later

A piercing cry aroused me from sleep then another joined in. I sighed heavily as I rolled onto my back. It felt like I had just gotten back to sleep after nursing the twins, but here they were, crying again. “It’s your turn,” I mumbled to Cassius, and I looked over to see him opening his eyes.

“I’m up,” He sat up as they continued to cry. Their little cradles were at the foto of our bed. Even though they had a beautiful nursery, I insisted they sleep in our room until they got older. He stood up and walked over to the cradle they shared and placed his hands on their little tummies, and they both stopped crying.

“How does that only work with you?” I said as he leaned down to sniff them.

He shrugged. “I’m the calmer parent,” He mumbled out as he scooped up Daisy and carried her into the bathroom. I sighed and got out of bed as Malcolm started to cry again. He did not like his twin to be far away from him.

“Oh, Malky,” I cooed at my son as I picked him up. My nose wrinkled at the apparent reason he was crying. He and Daisy were good at syncing their needs. Both were hungry at the same time. They needed changing at the same time. Daisy seemed to be the bolder one and often instigated the crying where Malcolm followed his sister’s lead. Malcolm quieted as I carried him into the bathroom. Cassius was nearly done changing Daisy.

“What do you feed these two?”

“Uh, tit juice,” I replied.

He rolled his eyes as he picked up Daisy and placed her on his bare shoulder. “Okay, hand me Malcolm, and you take Daisy.”

We exchanged babies, and I carried Daisy out of the bathroom and sat on the couch. I looked into her violet eyes that resembled mine. Everyone told me that she looked just like me. She had the same platinum blonde hair. My mother said she has my nose. I kissed her little forehead as I heard Malcolm crying from the bathroom. He missed his twin.

Moments later, Cassius carried him out of the bathroom. My mate sat beside me and placed Malcolm on his bare chest. The pup immediately quieted as I placed Daisy beside her twin on their father’s chest. Cassius smiled broadly as he gently cradles them. I lay my head on his shoulder and stroked my babies’ little backs. Malcolm looked more like Cassius, but he also had blonde hair and violet eyes as I had.

“Moments like this are my favorite,” Cassius said to me as the twins fell asleep on his chest.

“Mine too,” I responded to him. I glanced back at the clock on my end table, and it was getting close to the time we’re supposed to wake up. Today was my first day back in the office. Yesterday I had begun training again. I had an excellent first session with my new friend Stephanie. She nearly had me beat as I was rusty after being out for three months. But then my alpha b***d kicked in, and I beat her back. She said she was honored to train with me. So it was decided she would be my regular sparring partner. Today I would be in the office and no training. It bummed me out a little as I preferred warrior training over office work.

Cassius was excited to show me the changes he had made in the office. He had it remodeled so that there was a mini nursery for the twins to stay near us while we worked. We wanted to raise our children the old-fashioned way and not rely on nannies. Nicky also came to the office after lunch. He liked spending mornings at pupcare after his grandmother Liz had decided to move to her sister’s pack. Izzy had said she would help out with the pups a few days a week. She was quite the hands-on grandmother. She decided that she would be called “Grammy” by the pups as my mother had dibs on “Grandma.”

We both dozed off for a few minutes until the alarm clock went off, waking up the twins, causing them to cry, but they were quieted as Cassius stroked their backs. “Should I shower first or you?” I asked him.

“I’ll wait here while you go first, love,” He replied as he cooed at his pups. There was no prouder father in the kingdom than my mate. He was the most devoted father to our pups, and I could not be happier.

I kissed each of my pups and then Cassius. “I wish you were joining me.”

“Maybe tonight, love.” It had been almost two months since we had s*x. After giving birth, Angela told me to wait to heal. Luckily werewolves take less time to heal after giving birth than humans. “Actually, I think we should go for a run tonight. Enoch has been aching to run with Leonora.”

“I think that may be a good idea. Leonora hasn’t been out in four months, and she needs her mate too.”

‘Oh, thank the goddess,’ She murmured in my head.

I laughed at my wolf’s comment. “We’ll get your parents to watch the kids, and we’ll go for a nice long run,” I said to him as I kissed him again.

“You don’t have to ask my mother twice to watch her grandchildren.” He smirked and kissed me back.

I pulled away from him and ran into the bathroom. After showering, I put on a pair of jeans and a button-up white shirt with flowers on it. It felt nice to wear jeans again. I was happy that I was able to fit in my regular clothes again. I pulled my hair into a ponytail and exited the closet. Cassius had put the twins in their cradle, and they were sleeping. I went and got Nicky up and ready for the day. Cassius walked out of the closet as I returned with Nicky on my h*p. I admired my handsome mate. He has dressed in dark jeans and a light blue button-up shirt while his brown hair was slicked back.

“Mmm, my king is a tasty morsel,” I mused and set Nicky down.”

“Hello Nick,” Cassius greeted our eldest son.

“Hi Daddy,” Nicky responded, and Cassius scooped him up and kissed his cheek.

“Are you ready for breakfast?” He asked our pup.

“Yes, Daddy.”

He set Nicky down and picked up Daisy. I picked up Malcolm and grabbed Nicky’s hand. We then walked out of the room. Terry and Izzy were waiting for the elevators as we approached. Izzy smiled as she had to look at each of the twins.

“Those two get more and more beautiful every day.” She reached to take Malcolm from my arms, and I let her. She rocked her grandson and kissed his forehead.

The elevator door opened, and we squeezed inside as Titus and Ainsley joined us and crowded into the elevator.

“Good morning, everyone.” She greeted us while rubbing her growing belly.

“How are you feeling this morning?”I asked her.

“Gracie woke me up kicking like mad. Open my eyes, and Titus was laying on my belly.” She smiled at her fiancee.

He shrugged and smirked. “She seems to know I am her dad.”

We all laughed as the doors opened, and we filed out and headed towards the dining room. Cassius and I lead the way. I looked back at Izzy, who had Malcolm. Of course, he was safe in his grandmother’s arms, but I was still a protective mother.

We walked into the dining room, and everyone rose to their feet. “Good morning, everyone. It is the dawn of another beautiful day. I’d like to welcome my mate and queen back to work. It has been quite tiring to run this kingdom on my own. So with that, let’s all enjoy breakfast this morning.” He sat down with Daisy still in his arms. Izzy was happily holding Malcolm as the omegas brought out breakfast. Nicky was beside me in his chair, and I smiled. I had the urge to know where all three of my pups were at every second I breathed. I looked down as breakfast was set in front of me. It was country-fried steak and eggs this morning. My mouth watered as I dug into the food.

“Cassius, Jemma,” Titus said out loud all of a sudden. “I know it’s Jemma’s first day back, but there is something I must discuss with you this morning.”

Cassius raised an eyebrow as he looked at his brother-in-law. “The tone of your voice would indicate it’s something important.”

“Yes, it is. That is why I would like to discuss it in private.” He nodded at Cassius.

Ainsley grabbed the vampire’s hand. “What’s wrong, babe?” She asked him.

“It’s just something I have to discuss with Cassius and Jemma. You may accompany me to speak with them,” He looked at Cassius again. “If that is alright that Ainsley joins us.”

“Sure, she can join,” Cassius responded. He glanced at me. ‘Any idea what he needs to discuss?’ His mind linked me.

‘No idea. But it sounds important.’ I heard Malcolm whimper and look to see Terry was now holding him. My pup appeared fine, but his whimpers alarmed the protective mother she-wolf instinct in me. “So, Terry, Izzy. Would it be possible for you guys to watch the pups tonight? Cassius and I would like to take a wolf run tonight. My girl hasn’t been out in a long time.”

Terry smiled at his first grandson, the future king of werewolves. His blue eyes looked up at me. Then he glanced at Izzy. “Isabelle, I do believe our daughter-in-law is asking if we can watch her pups so she and our son can have s*x in the woods.”

“Dad!” Cassius nearly yelled at him.

Terry and Izzy laughed while Terry shrugged. “Your Dad is a touchy one, Malcolm,” Terry cooed at our son.

“Of course, we’ll watch the pups tonight,” Izzy finally replied. “You know you two don’t need a reason.”

“Thank you, Izz,” I said to her. I finished my food as Malcolm began to cry, which caused Daisy to start crying. “I think they are hungry again.” I stood up and walked over to Terry to take my son from him.

“I’d feed him myself, but my t**s aren’t producing milk,” Terry snickered at me.

I rolled my eyes, carried Malcolm back to my seat, and began unbuttoning my shirt as both twins cried. Cassius was doing his best to soothe our daughter. “Okay, everyone, don’t look. I’m about to feed my pups.” Malcolm began to feed while Cassius helped me get Daisy into position so she could nurse also. Once both pups were latched, I sighed. I smiled at them.

“Mommy,” Nicky spoke up. “Can I go with Nico and Angie?” He asked as Angela stood beside him with Nico.

“I can take him to pupcare for you,” She offered.

“Thank you, Ange.” I looked at Nicky. “You be good for Angela and the pupcare ladies. Alright?”

He hopped off his seat and walked over to me. He looked at his little brother and sister. “They are very hungry.”

“Yes, they are. Babies are always hungry. That’s what will help them grow into big strong wolves like their big brother,” I said to him.

“Bye, Mommy. Bye, Daddy.” He said as Angela clasped his hand.

The twins soon finished feeding, and Cassius took Daisy from my arms to burp her while I did the same with Malcolm. I fixed my shirt and looked at Cassius. “So let’s go get to work.” We stood up and started out of the dining room with Titus and Ainsley following us.

Cassius lead me into the office and then opened the door that leads into the little nursery that he had fixed up. I smiled at the space. It was small but big enough to contain everything we needed for the twins while we worked. A single crib and changing table sat against the wall that had been painted in pastel rainbow colors.

“I love it,” I said to my mate.

He smiled as he set Daisy in the crib. I placed Malcolm next to her, and the two fell asleep, comforted by their twin. I leaned down to k**s them on their little foreheads. “I can’t believe we made these two beautiful little souls, Cass.”

He wrapped his around my waist and kissed my temple.

“Oh, this little nursery is adorable,” Ainsley said from the doorway.

I had forgotten she and Titus had followed us. “Isn’t it, though? Cass did a good job with it.”

“Who knew my big brother had such a knack for interior design.” She laughed.

“Well, Mom helped,” Cassius confessed.

“Of course she did,” Ainsley laughed as we walked out of the room. Titus was sitting in one of the chairs in front of the desk. The vampire was casually dressed in jeans and a white t-shirt. Ainsley sat on his lap, and he wrapped his arm around her waist.

Cassius and I sat behind our desk. “So, what did you need to discuss?” Cassius asked Titus.

“I know that your daughter is mated to Crown Prince Dominic.”

I lifted an eyebrow at him. The news that our daughter was the mate of the future king of vampires was something that we wanted to keep secret. Only our families and a select few friends would know.

“Ainsley told me.” He said and glanced at her.

“Sorry, Cass, Jemma.” She shrank against her fiancee.

Titus sighed. “Don’t worry. I have no plans to go around telling everyone. I may not live in his court any longer, but King Romulus is still m king, and I honor him and his family,” Titus explained. “I came here to tell you I pledge my protection of Princess Daisy.”

“My daughter has plenty of protections, Titus,” Cassius nearly growled.

Titus looked directly at us. His red eyes were always a little unnerving when he looks us dead on. “The vampires were already unhappy that their king married a werewolf. Then to add insult to injury, their next king will be a hybrid. They are not happy at the prospect of being ruled by a werewolf, and if they replace out the Prince Dominic’s fated mate is also a werewolf, well, they may be war. They may be carnage.”

“King Romulus assure us that all would be fine.”

“The king though a good one, is a little removed from the common vampires. I have heard the words of my brethren as they discuss the future king. Some are alright with Prince Dominic. Others not so much. It is rumored that they will demand that King Romulus must make the prince into a full vampire before ascending to the throne.”

“He can be made into a full vampire?” I asked with genuine curiosity.

Titus nodded. “Yes, the king has that ability. But it would also mean his wolf has to die.”

Leonora whined in my head. ‘Will they demand Aurora’s death also?’ She asked me.

‘I don’t know. The queen still has her wolf, and she is part vampire.’ I told my wolf before turning my attention back to Titus.

“I am offering my protection because if it is made known, your daughter is Prince Dominic’s mate, then some of the rebel vampires may try to attack her. I would give my life to protect her. I am still loyal to the crown.”

Cassius growled lowly. “My daughter has plenty of protection, and any vampire that tries to attack MY daughter in MY kingdom will be met with a violent and swift death.”

“I can detect their presence better than your wolves can, Cassius,” Titus offered. “I hate to brag, but I was once one of the king’s generals. I fought for him for centuries.”

I placed my hand on his. “It won’t hurt to have at least another eye on our daughter, Cass.” I looked at Titus. “I don’t want you to take too much time from your family, Titus.”

He looked at Ainsley. “I have decided to live here in the palace with Ainsley and our daughter. Terrance has offered one of the suites on the second floor to us. I feel strongly compelled to protect my future queen. I hope you understand.”

Cassius leaned back in his seat and glanced at me. “We accept your offer, Titus. I would prefer your only role in her life is as her uncle. But I can not turn down extra protection of my daughter.”

“I will inform King Romulus of my intentions. We are still close friends. I do intend to work for him as a lawyer, but that can wait.”

Cassius shrugged. “I could always use a lawyer around here, brother. The current one is set to retire soon as he served under my father.”

“Is that a job offer?” Titus leaned forward.

“Maybe. Do you accept?”

Titus looked at Ainsley. “What do you think, darling?”

“Hey, I think it’s awesome, babe.” She leaned down to k**s him. His arms wrapped her, and their k**s deepened.

Cassius shifted in his seat, clearly uncomfortable. He cleared his throat. “Is there anything else you needed to say, Titus?”

“No.”

“Fine, then get out of my office before you, and my sister get any more hot and heavy.”

The vampire stood up with Ainsley in his arms. He set her down. “I apologize for that. We will see you later.” He clasped Ainsley’s hand.

“Bye Cass, Jemma.” Ainsley waved at us as Titus lead her out of the office.

Cassius blew out a long breath and ran his hand over his face. “You are alright with Titus being our daughter’s protector?”

“Why wouldn’t I be okay with that? While I trust our guards to protect our children from any danger and I know you would give your life to protect them. It doesn’t hurt to have yet another set of capable eyes to watch over her. I understand what Titus was getting at. Guinevere told me about how many of the vampires under her husband’s role still do not like that she is their queen. Even though she is a hybrid and she has been queen for sixty years.”

“I did not know it was that bad.”

“Well, so far, they only voice their opposition. No one has tried to overthrow Romulus. Guin also told me that the vampire council tried to get Romulus to have a vampire or even human produce his heir. But he refused.”

“They’d be okay with a human producing their heir but not a werewolf?”

I shrugged. “The offspring of a vampire born from a human would be a full vampire. Unfortunately, Guin told me that the human mother never lives long after birth. Whereas as a werewolf, she handled the pregnancy and birth just fine.” I shuddered thinking of it.

Cassius clasped my hand. “I pray to the Moon Goddess that our little daughter will be just fine. She must have a good reason to have pair Daisy with a vampire hybrid.”

“Tuatha mentioned the rise of the demons.” I shivered at the thought.

“That won’t be for at least twenty years, so we will have plenty of time to prepare.”

We both sighed before we decided to plunge headfirst into work. That seemed to take our minds off of our children’s uncertain future. We worked diligently for hours, taking time out to care for the twins. I sat through mediation by myself while Cassius stayed with the twins. Finally, the end of the day rolled around, and we had dinner with Terry and Izzy before leaving all three pups with them.

I stood out on the balcony of our room. The sun was setting, bathing the sky in bright colors. I had on a light dress as I waited for Cassius to join me on the run. Leonora was pacing in my head, eager to get out. Strong arms wrapped around me, and he pulled me to his chest as he kissed my shoulder.

“You look beautiful tonight, my queen.” He held me for a moment, and we watched the sunset in silence. “Are you ready to run?”

“Oh goddess, yes. Leonora is about to burst out me.” I replied to him as we kissed.

He let go of me and backed away. He started to take off his clothes. I took off the dress I was wearing. He growled and pulled me close to him as I was completely naked. “Cass, no one can see us.”

“I don’t care. You are mine and mine only,” He growled in my ear. “Now shift.”

I smirked and kissed him on the cheek before backing away from his hold. ‘Are you ready, Leonora?’

‘More than ready, Jemma. Deep breath. This may hurt.’ She said as I let her take over. The pain from the shift only lasted a minute. She shook out her pure white fur. A wet muzzled nudged our side as Cassius had shifted into Enoch. Violet eyes looked into deep ocean blue ones.

‘It’s been too long since I have seen you, my beautiful mate,’ Enoch said to us.

Leonora nuzzled his black fur and took a deep breath. ‘My handsome mate.’ She mused.

‘Okay, you two, no hanky panky. I am not ready to get pregnant again.’ I told them as they both whined.

‘Fine, killjoy.’ Enoch mumbled.

Leonora laughed as she circled Enoch before leaping over the balcony’s railing and landing on the ground. We took a glance back before taking off to the trees. It wasn’t long before Enoch had caught up. The two wolves yipped happily as they ran. Happy to be together once again as the moon rose above the trees, blessing us with her silvery light.
