Jemma’s POV

The sun shined through the curtains as I opened my eyes. I was lying on my side in Cassius’s arms. I snuggled against his chest making him purr in his sleep. It’s been a month since my coma and I had been cleared to have s*x again. It was like Cassius couldn’t get enough of my body. Not that I minded. s*x with one’s true love was like nothing else. My morning sickness had mostly gone away in the last week. But right now I had to urinate. Cassius had his arm tightly around me.

I smacked his arm to try and escape. “Cass,” I said to him only to be answered by a snore. “Cassius,” I tried lifting his arm only to be held tighter. “Cassius!” I shouted at him. He g*****d and loosened his hold a little and I was able to get out of bed. I ran into the bathroom to relieve myself and then to start getting ready for the day. I was going to spend part of the morning doing my exercises. I no longer participated in sparring with other wolves. I mostly just beat up dummies or punching bags. I still needed to move around and run as much as I could. It helped lessen the pain my body experienced from growing twins.

After training, I would be in the office with Cassius. I was a little excited because Ainsley was coming to visit and along with Izzy we were going to go to the spa and then the mall. I was excited because it was only the second time I had been out of the palace since the sentencing. The rogue activity had dropped back to normal levels and Cassius reluctantly agreed to allow me to go with his sister and mother. I was going a little stir crazy not being allowed to leave the palace.

I took off my nightgown and stepped into the shower. I rubbed my hands over my growing belly. It was rounder and more pronounced. Still, most people couldn’t see it when I was fully dressed. I still could feel any kicks yet. I jumped when the shower door opened and Cassius engulfed me in his arms. He rested his head on top of mine. “Good morning, Cass.”

“My love, how are you this morning?” He said as he placed his hands on my belly. “The twins are up too.” He said. It seemed he could fully sense their little souls.

“We are doing well this morning, my king.” I leaned into his chest as I ran my hand up and down his arm. He spun me around and we kissed as the water cascaded over our bodies. “Are you looking to have a long hot shower with me this morning?” I gleamed as he growled lowly and lifted me into his arms. He pressed me against the wall as our kissing became more hungered. My arms wrapped around his neck as our tongues danced together. The heat from our passion was making me pant. He finally pulled back slightly allowing me a quick breath before pressing his lips against mine again. “Mmm, someone is hard already.” I purred lowly as he kissed down my neck and then licked my mark. Cassius wore some black slacks and a red button-up shirt. We were both going for a casual look today. I then went to Nicky’s room to get him ready.

After bathing and clothing my son we joined Cassius at the elevators with his parents. Cassius picked up Nicky. “Good morning, Nick.”

“Morning Daddy.” My son had started calling Cassius that a few weeks ago. It made me slightly uncomfortable for some reason even though Nicky was happy with it. Cassius didn’t force him to. Nicky just did it on his own. He had come to terms that Jeremy was gone.

The elevator door opened and we filed in. “So, are you excited about the spa, dear?” Izzy asked me.

“Yes,” I replied to her. “I’m excited to see Ainsley,” I told her. Ainsley hadn’t called much since she became Luna of her mate’s pack. We figured she was just busy. Though Izzy was suspicious because she said her daughter just sounded different. The doors opened and Cassius set Nicky down and my pup ran ahead of us. We entered the dining room and every one rose as usual.

“Good morning, everyone,” Cassius announced. “I hope everyone had a good evening. Let’s have a good day.” He clapped his hands and then we all sat down.

The omegas brought out breakfast as usual. It was a nice hearty steak and eggs breakfast. My mouth watered at the medium-rare chunk of ribeye. Even Nicky looked eager to eat the steak. I cut up his steak for him and then dug into mine. “Mmm, I don’t know why but I have been craving steak a lot lately,” I said out loud.

“Well, you are carrying Cassy’s offspring,” Izzy snickered. “I wanted almost nothing but meat when I was pregnant with him.”

I laughed. “Makes sense. I’m sure at least one of these pups is a male and well if he is anything like his daddy, he loves his meat.” I smirked at Cassius and he grinned.

“You love my meat too, love.” He winked at me.

“Cassius Alexander!” Izzy barked at him.

“Sorry, mother,” Cassius muttered.

I couldn’t help but laugh at the king still getting chastised by his mother. Everyone knew that Izzy was the one truly at the helm of the kingdom. “Oh, good boy Nicky,” I said to my son who had wolfed down most of his breakfast. “You were a hungry pup.”

“I like steak, Mommy.”

I laughed. “Of course you do. Most wolves like their steak. Are you ready for pupcare?”

He nodded. “Yes.”

“Let me finish my breakfast and we’ll head on over, okay?” I smiled at my pup. I watched as he hopped off his chair and ran around me and to Cassius. My mate scooped him up and placed Nicky on his lap.

The two of them had become closer in the month since Jeremy’s exile. Cassius cut a piece of his steak and fed it to Nicky. “Thanks, Daddy.” Nicky cooed as Cassius shared his breakfast with him.

“Haven’t you had enough food, Nicky?” I said to my son.

“He’s a growing boy, Jemma,” Cassius smirked at me and fed Nicky another piece of steak.

I rolled my eyes. “Well, do you mind taking him to pupcare so I can get to training?”

“I don’t mind, love,” Cassius replied as I leaned down to k**s him.

I looked at Nicky. “You be good for your Dad and the ladies at pupcare. I’ll see you later.” I kissed my son’s cheek and waved at everyone else in the room before heading out to training.

It was nearly noon and I had been sitting beside Cassius as we worked through all of the emails and video chats. Things had quieted in the last few weeks since his decision to exile rather than execute Jeremy. After the verdict, there had been controversy. The father of Jeremy’s ex-mate even tried challenging Cassius. Of course, he didn’t win. A mere beta against the king of werewolves was laughable. The elders tried to use their collective power to get the verdict overturned but that didn’t work either.

It was nearly lunchtime and I was ravished with hunger. Even after a large breakfast and snacks I still felt starved. The twins were growing fast which took a lot out of me to stay nourished. I looked at Cassius. “Are you ready for lunch yet?”

He had just finished a video call and turned to me. “Just about,” He replied as my stomach rumbled. “You can go on ahead of me if you wish, my love.”

I stood up and kissed him on the lips. “Thank you, babe.” He held me for a moment and stroked my cheek. “Do you want me to put in your order for you so it will be ready for you?”

He grinned, “I just want a big tuna sandwich with some chips and a soda.”

“Okay,” I smiled and kissed him once more before departing the office. I stopped in the ladies’ room to relieve myself. I was still a little weary of the bathroom since the attack. As I walked towards the dining room I saw Ainsley with her mate and parents visiting. I rushed towards them. “Ains!” I called out to my sister-in-law.

She turned to me and she did seem different to me. She merely smiled at me. “Hello, Jemma.” She responded softly.

I hugged her and she winced slightly. “Oh, I’m sorry.”

“It’s alright. I fell earlier. Still, a bit bruised.” She said quietly.

I glanced at Izzy who had a raised eyebrow. But neither of us said anything as we all walked into the dining room. Terry was chatting with Casper. I sat in my seat and an omega came forward to take my lunch order. “The king would like to have a large tuna sandwich with chips and soda,” I told him. He nodded and jotted down the order. “As for me. I think I would like a grilled chicken sandwich with bacon and swiss cheese on top. With a few pickle slices on the side and some fries.”

“Of course, your majesty.” The omega grinned before walking towards the kitchen.

I looked over at Ainsley. “So, how are things, Ainsley?”

She looked at her mate who had a hard look on his handsome face. I shuddered because it reminded me of his father. “I am fine, Jemma.” She replied quietly.

A few minutes of silence passed before Cassius joined us. He smiled at his sister. “Hey, Ains. How is my baby sister doing?” He grinned happily at her.

She shrugged. “I’m fine Cass.” Her voice was soft.

He looked at Casper. “So, how is it going Alpha?”

“Well, the rogue problems seemed to have quieted.” He replied. “I am slowly rebuilding my pack from the ashes after my father almost ran it into the ground.”

“I hadn’t heard that. I thought the pack was doing okay despite your father’s abuse of his mate.” Cassius said as our lunch was being served. He eyed my big sandwich and pile of fries.

I dug into my food while Cassius and Casper continued to talk. I noticed that Ainsley only had a small salad with very little on top of it. “Are you not hungry, Ains?”

She shook her head. “I need to watch my figure.” She replied quietly.

I narrowed my eyes at her. “What is wrong with your figure? You look great.”

Casper clasped her hand and looked at me with the same look his father had looked at me. It was raising my suspicions of him. But I kept my mouth shut. “Ainsley doesn’t need to pork down a ton of food, like some people.”

“What the f**k is that supposed to mean?” I asked him.

He shrugged. “It’s just you are getting a bit thick in the middle.”

I growled at him. “I’m pregnant with twins, you moron.”

Cassius grabbed my hand. “I think Jemma looks just fine, alpha. The twins are growing rapidly and it takes a lot out of her. She has to eat a lot to keep up with their growth.” He explained as he held onto my hand. It calmed me slightly as I looked at the alpha.

‘That little s**t is making me think of his father.’ Izzy said in my head.

I glanced at her. ‘Oh you are getting those vibes too, are you Izz?”

“So, you tell my daughter how much she is allowed to eat?” Izzy asked the alpha.

He shook his head. “No, I merely suggest she eats healthy and doesn’t eat a ton.”

Izzy rolled her eyes and glanced at Terry. They appeared to be locked in a silent conversation before she looked at Ainsley. “Are you ready for the spa, dear?”

Ainsley nodded. “Yes, mother.” She managed a slight smile.

“Well, let’s go then. Are you ready Jemma?” She asked me.

I nodded as I drank the last of my lemonade. “More than ready Izzy.” I glanced at Cassius. “I was going stir crazy being holed up here in the palace for so long.”

He sighed. “I was doing it for your safety, love.”

I stood up and placed a soft k**s on his lips. “I know.” I smiled at him as I looked into his eyes. “We will be okay, Cass. See you later.”

“Have fun.” He said to me.

I then followed Izzy and Ainsley out of the dining room. We walked out the front door to be greeted by Bruce leaning against the royal limo. “Good afternoon, ladies.” He smiled.

My personal guard Sam and his men were waiting eagerly also. I nodded to them as Bruce opened the door of the limo for us all to file it. I entered last. “We are going to the spa first.”

The driver nodded. “Very well your majesty.”

I got into the limo and Izzy was trying to get Ainsley to talk more. “Please tell me that son of a bastard isn’t beating you?”

Ainsley stiffened. “No mother.”

“Then why are there bruises on your arms?” Izzy nearly growled.

Ainsley shrugged. “I’m clumsy and run into things all of the time.”

Izzy folded her arms. “I don’t remember you being that clumsy. And the food thing.”

“Mother he is just looking out for me. He doesn’t want me to get overweight.” She glanced at me.

“Why are you looking at me like that?”

“You did eat a lot for lunch, Jemma.”

I looked at Izzy for a second. “What part of I’m growing twin royal alphas did you not catch? These pups are growing faster than normal pups and I need to eat more to keep up. I haven’t gained that much weight. If anything the doctors said I should gain more.” I explained to her.

“Sorry, Jemma. I didn’t mean to imply anything.”

I sighed. “What is this sudden obsession with weight? You were not like that before.”

“Casper just likes his mate to look a certain way.”

Izzy and I exchanged a look. “What way is that?” I asked her.

“He likes his mate to be on the thinner side and he likes me to dress a certain way.”

I did notice she was dressed in a long sleeve shirt with a pair of jeans. It was warm out. She didn’t need long sleeves. I sighed as the limo pulled up to the spa. We filed out and the guards spread out as we walked in. The workers at the spa were accustomed to them. We walked in and were immediately attended to.

Twenty minutes later I lay face down on a table being massaged. I relaxed as the masseuse worked my tense muscles. “Manny, you are a magician with those hands,” I said to him.

“You are very tense, your majesty.”

“Running a kingdom will do that to someone,” I chuckled.

After we were all done getting facials and massages we departed to the mall. Ainsley was still mostly silent. Izzy and I chatted about baby items. “Ains, are you and Casper trying for a pup?” Izzy asked her daughter.

“We are waiting a few years before we worry about pups, mother. Casper is working hard to rebuild the pack and it takes a lot out of him. We are both young so we aren’t in a hurry.”

“That’s reasonable.”

I snorted. “I sort of wish, Cassius and I could have waited.” I sighed. “Not that I am not excited about these two. I just wish we could have waited.”

Izzy patted my arm. “I wish that law didn’t exist either. You are both young and you could have waited.”

“Can’t Cassius change it?”

“The elders wouldn’t allow that.”

I sighed. “But Cassius overrode the elders over the s**t with Jeremy. I mean it’s too late for us but I hate to think of my son being under that kind of pressure.”

“Maybe you can persuade them to change it, dear.” Izzy smiled at me. “I mean by the time your son is of age most of the ones currently on the council will be dead and gone.”

I returned a smile to my mother-in-law. “You make a very good point, Izzy.”

“If anyone could change the minds of a bunch of doddering old wolves it’s you.”

“Thank you, Izzy.”

The limo stopped in front of the mall. Bruce opened the door for us and we filed out. We waited for the guards to take their positions around us before we walked inside. “It feels so good to get out of the palace,” I said as I stretched my arms.

“So where to first ladies?” Izzy asked us.

Ainsley and I shrugged. “I don’t know. I just sort of want to wander.” I laughed.

“I would like to go to Grace’s Boutique.” Ainsley smiled.

After two hours of shopping and buying, we stopped in the food court. I was craving a giant pretzel while Izzy was trying to get Ainsley to eat something. “I can hear your stomach growling,” Izzy said to her daughter.

“I’ll just drink some water, Mom.” She responded to her mother.

Izzy rolled her eyes as we sat in the food court. The guards surrounded us and patrons walked by eyeing us. I had grown accustomed to the constant stares. I chomped into the giant pretzel savoring it. I saw Ainsley eyeing it. “Come on Ains. Eat something. We promise that we won’t say anything to Casper.” I said to her.

She sighed. “I’ll get a smoothie.”

“See that’s better,” I said while dipping my giant pretzel in cheese sauce. I watched as she got up and walked over to the smoothie kiosk. Izzy sighed loudly as she watched her daughter.

“I am worried about her Jemma.” She said to me quietly.

“Me too, Izzy.”

“I had Terry talk to Casper but I doubt that little s**t will give anything up.” She sneered.

“Perhaps we can get Cassius to talk to him and use his king tone.”

Izzy snickered. “I’d hate to do that. I mean it could be nothing but-“

“Your mother’s instinct is in overdrive isn’t it?”

“Yes, my pups may be grown but I still worry about them, and my intuition, when they are in trouble, is still strong. My wolf is bothered by it too.” Izzy explained to me.

Ainsley returned with a child’s size smoothie and sat down. She sipped on it quietly while I glanced at Izzy. I finished my pretzel and we all decided it was time to head back to the palace.

We returned to the palace and filed out of the limo. Casper was standing by the door with folded arms. He glared at Ainsley as we walked towards the door. “You are late.” He snarled at her while roughly grabbing her arm.

Izzy growled and stepped forward. “It was my fault. I wanted to look at baby stuff for my grandchildren and it took longer than we thought.”

“We were supposed to be back at the pack by now.” Casper glared at Izzy. “We have an important matter to attend to.” He kept a grip on Ainsley’s arm.

“I am sorry, Casper,” Ainsley said quietly to him.

“Let’s go,” He growled at her and pulled her away from us.

“Can I at least say goodbye to my daughter?” Izzy walked towards them not waiting for Casper to respond.

The alpha rolled his eyes. “Hurry up.”

Izzy raised her eyebrows at him. “You did not just give me an order, did you?”

He shrugged. “You are just a female.”

“I am a queen, you imp.” She snarled before turning her attention to Ainsley. She looked her daughter in the eyes like they were locked in a conversation in the mind. Then she hugged her.

“Okay, that’s enough.” Casper tried grabbing Ainsley.

Izzy held onto her. “Grab my daughter one more time before I am done and you will be laid out on the ground, young alpha.”

“Your mate needs to get down here and get you under control, Isabelle. I am a male.”

She snorted. “A piss poor one at that. Just like your pitiful father.”

Casper growled and raised his arm and I rushed forward and pushed him away from Izzy. “If you lay a hand on the king’s mother you will regret it.” I snarled at him.

His eyes flickered between black and blue. “I just need to collect my luna and go home now. Okay?”

“Mother, it’s okay. I just want to go home now.” Ainsley pulled away from Izzy.

“Are you sure?” Izzy asked her.

Ainsley nodded. “Yes. I will see you soon. Tell Dad I said bye.” She hugged Izzy once before hugging me. Then Casper grabbed her arm and pulled her away from us.

“I so want to rip that son of a b***h apart,” Izzy said as we watched them walk away.

“Can’t we arrest him as we did with his father?” I asked my mother-in-law.

“We’ll see what Terry has to say about whatever Casper said. And we’ll keep an eye on the matter.” Izzy explained. “Still I should have suspected something when I was there setting up her luna ceremony.”

We walked into the palace and went into the sitting room. We sat on the posh couch. “What happened? They seemed alright during the ceremony.”

“He just seemed very controlling. I chalked it up to him being thrust into the alpha role so suddenly.” Izzy sighed. “She probably would have been better off with that damn vampire.”

I patted her arm. “She will be alright, Izz. Ainsley is strong.” I stood up. “I am going to go replace Cass.”

“Okay, dear. See you later.”

‘Cass, where are you?’ I mind-linked my mate eager to see him.

‘I am playing with Nick in his room.’ He replied and my heart swelled.

‘I’ll be right up.’ I replied and made my way towards the elevators.

As I entered my son’s room I smiled when I saw the king of werewolves on the floor with a toy car making car noise while he and Nicky rolled them around on the floor. I watched them for a moment before they both looked up.

“I finished work early and decided to get Nick from pupcare and spend time with him.”

“Daddy got me ice cream.” Nicky declared as I walked over and sat on the floor with them.

“He did!” I smiled at my mate.

“And then we played in the park.”

“It sounds like you two had a fun day, Nicky.” I picked up a car and rolled it around. “Can I play with you guys too?”

“Yep,” Nicky responded.

I proceeded to play cars with my mate and son for an hour before we had dinner brought up to the room. We then watched cartoons until Nicky fell asleep on Cassius’s chest. We tucked our tired pup into bed before retiring to our room.

I wrapped my arms around Cassius. “I love you so much, my king.” I looked up at him.

“I love you too, my queen.” He kissed my lips and I wrapped my arms around his neck. The k**s deepened and he pushed me towards the bed as we discarded our clothes. “I missed you all day.”

I crawled onto the bed and pulled him on top of me. A hand gently massaged my tender breasts. “I missed you too.” My need for him grew. I thanked the goddess for the mate I was blessed with. He may have made a huge mistake at the beginning of our relationship but he had spent every day since making up for it and I couldn’t love him more.
