The Alpha King's Rebellious Queen
The Alpha King’s Rebellious Queen Chapter 8

Cassius’s POV

“Jemma?” Alpha Phillip asked me with an amused smile that quickly disappeared when he saw my expression. He took a deep breath. “What did she do now?”

“I just need to know where she is,” I stated.

My father glanced at me for a moment and raised an eyebrow. I know he knew why. He then exchanged a look at Alpha Phillip, whose face paled. “Are you sure?”

I nodded. “Yes. Your daughter is my mate.”

“Oh shit.” Phillip breathed out and grabbed a glass of champagne from a nearby waiter. He downed the glass in one gulp, then grabbed another and downed that. He grabbed a third and started to down it when my father grabbed his shoulder.

“Get a hold of yourself, Phil.”

The third glass went down, and Phillip just stared at me wide-eyed. “My Jemma is the next queen.” He squeaked. “And you are completely sure?”

A loud growl rumbled out of my chest, eliciting stares from nearby patrons. “I don’t have time for this, Phillip.” He froze and nodded. “She has run off, and I need to know where she is.”

“She ran away?” He asked. “That doesn’t sound like Jemma.” He pinched the bridge of his nose. “I’m pretty sure she ran home. She doesn’t like leaving her son too long.”

My eyes narrowed as my b***d ran cold. “Son? She has a son?”

Phillip nodded slowly. “Yes. He’s three years old.”

Another growl rumbled out of my chest. My mate was impure. She had a son by some wolf who wasn’t me. ‘Let’s gut the bastard that stole her innocence.’ Enoch snarled in my head. A hand squeezed my shoulder as my eyes flickered from blue to black.

“Cassius, you need to calm down.” My father tried soothing me. He looked at Phillip. “Are you sure she went home?”

Alpha Phillip pulled out his cellphone from his pants pocket. “I’ll call my mate and ask her to be on the lookout for Jemma. I’ll also call my beta and let him know to tell my border guards to catch her.”

“You do that.” My voice slithered out icily.

He nervously dialed his phone and walked a few feet away. I turned away from them and ran my hand through my hair. I can’t believe she ran away. Why would she run away from me?

My father was standing beside me. “We’ll replace her, Cassius.”

Phillip hung up his phone and walked back over to us. “Melinda hasn’t seen Jemma yet. But she and the pack will be on the lookout, and they will call me the instant she shows up.”

I nodded. “Good. We are going to your territory now, Phillip.”

“Jemma is a lot to handle, Cassius. I would not be angry if you rejected her.”

A growl ripped out of me as I turned my attention to the alpha. I took a threatening step towards him. “Why would I reject my Queen?!” I shouted.

Phillip gulped. One of the mightiest warriors in the kingdom was trembling in front of me. “It’s just. Jemma is a White Wolf like my mother was. And she is very independent and defiant. She does not like being controlled by anyone.”

I smirked as he spoke. I should have guessed that my Queen was a White Wolf considering she had those bright violet eyes. “I haven’t met a challenge I couldn’t beat yet, Phillip. I am not rejecting her. She is mine!”

Phillip took a deep breath. “I was afraid you would say that.”

“Dad!” Phillip’s son Iain called out. He walked over to us with a thin, redheaded she-wolf hanging off of him. He noticed my father and me and bowed. “King Cassius. Uncle Terry.” He smiled and looked at Phillip. “Dad, I found my mate.” He proclaimed happily.

His father swallowed and looked at his son. “That’s great, Iain.”

“This is Delilah Garza, daughter of Alpha Raymond of the Fire Moon Pack.” Iain introduced the she-wolf.

“Nice to meet you, Delilah.” He held out a hand to the she-wolf. He glanced at Iain. “Your sister found her mate also.”

Iain laughed. “So, who is poor sap that got stuck with Jemma?”

I growled as Phillip flicked his eyes to me and back at his son. Iain looked at me and paled while his mouth fell open. “Oh shit.” He mumbled.

“Jemma, the slut found a mate.” Delilah sneered. “I replace that hard to believe.”

A thunderous growl rolled out of my chest as I glared at the she-wolf. “How dare you speak about your Queen, in such a manner.”

She looked at me, wide-eyed. “Queen?” She muttered something under her breathe before bowing to me. “Sorry, your majesty. Why would you want Jemma?” She looked at Iain. “I mean, everyone in the kingdom knows about Jemma. She got knocked up at eighteen and whores about-“

Another growl ripped out of my chest as the b***h kept talking about my Queen in such a disrespectful manner. I took a threatening step towards her, ready to put her in her place. Phillip and Iain stood protectively in front of her.

“Iain, take your mate out of here, now!” He ordered his son. Iain nodded and pulled his mate away from us as Phillip’s phone rang. He pulled it out. “Melinda?” He nodded as he listened to his mate. “Okay. Make sure she stays put. We are coming home now.” He paused while his mate responded. “Love you too.” He hung up the phone. “Jemma is home. Melinda is making sure she stays put.”

“Good. We are leaving now.” I turned heel and started to walk out of the ballroom. I ignored the she-wolves trying to get my attention.

“I’m coming too,” My father said behind me.

“Fine,” I replied to him. I just wanted to get to my mate and bring her home. ‘Bruce, bring the limo around to the front of the palace, now.’ I ordered my driver through the mind link. ‘Deke, I am leaving.”

‘Um okay. Do you want to tell me why?’

‘No. Just do as I say.’ I replied and cut off the link before he could respond.

We walked outside. Bruce had the limo waiting for us. He opened the door, and I slid into the seat, followed by my father and Phillip. There was an uncomfortable silence as the engine started. Bruce looked back at me. “Zephyr Moon Pack,” I ordered him. He nodded and drove off. I watched as Phillip’s eyes glazed over.

“I just told my border guards to let us pass without stopping the limo.”

“Thank you, Phil,” I replied as I looked out the window. I was switching between excitement and anger as we drove. “Why would she have run away, Phil?”

I heard the alpha sigh loudly. “Cassius, Jemma did not want to come to the ball tonight. She fought her mother, and I tooth and nail not to come.” He explained. “She doesn’t want a mate. She has a boyfriend.” I growled as Phillip spoke. “I apologize for upsetting you. But you have to know what you are getting yourself into with my daughter. Don’t get me wrong. I love her. But I know how she is. How difficult she can be.”

I flexed my fingers and closed my eyes. “I love a challenge. How hard can one she-wolf be to tame?”

Phillip let out a nervous laugh and glanced at my father. “You know about my mother, right?”

“Yes, Victoria “The Hand” MacKenzie. Everyone in the kingdom knows about her. We have entire textbooks about her in history class.”

“Then you have an idea of how she is.”

I just smirked and looked out the window. ‘We can handle her.” Enoch declared. ‘I have already spoken to her wolf, Leonora.’ I smiled to myself. ‘Even her wolf has a beautiful name.’ We rode the rest of the way in silence. Finally reaching the front of Zephyr Moon’s packhouse, we were greeted by Phillip’s mate and beta.

Luna Melinda bowed to me as we approached. She looked at her mate for a second. “King Cassius, to what do we owe this pleasure?”

Phillip put a hand on his mate’s shoulder. “Have Jemma meet us in my office immediately.”

The luna narrowed her eyes at her mate. “Why, Phil? Is everything alright?”

Phillip pressed his lips together. “Jemma found her mate tonight.” He glanced at me, and Melinda followed his eyes. Her mouth fell open.

“J-Jemma’s mate is King Cassius?” She squeaked out to Phillip.

The alpha slowly nodded. “Yep.” He emphasized the “p.”

Luna Melinda gulped. “Oh shit.”

“Come, Cassius, let’s go to my office while my mate retrieves my daughter.” He gestured to the door of the packhouse. We followed Phillip to his office. He beckoned me, my father, and his beta inside. He walked over to a minibar and picked up several glasses. “Would you like a drink?” He asked me.

I shook my head. “No, thank you.”

He poured brown liquor into two glasses, handed one to my father, and picked up the other one. He then walked around his desk and sat down. I just walked over to the large window and leaned against it while we waited on Jemma. What was taking her so long? Then her scent hit me, and I turned to see her walking into the office holding a small blond-headed child in her arms, followed by her mother. Forgetting about my anger at her running away from me, I smiled brightly at her. “Hello, Mate.”
