The Alpha King's Rebellious Queen -
The Alpha King’s Rebellious Queen Chapter 97
Jemma’s POV
I opened my eyes and found myself in my mother’s arms. It took me a moment to remember what had happened. We were in the safe room while Cassius, my father, and brother were out confronting rogues. I felt a sharp pain in my body, knowing that Cassius had gotten injured. Then Leonora had informed me that Cassius had been hit with silver. The pain he felt I was feeling, and I must have passed out.
“Jemma,” My mother’s frantic voice brought me out of my thoughts. I directed my eyes at her.
“I need to get to Cassius,” I mumbled out.
“Your father hasn’t given the all-clear yet. We have to stay here.”
My heart raced, and tears fell down my cheeks. “I need to get to Cassius,” I sobbed against my mother’s chest. She held me tight.
“I know, Jemma. But it’s not safe yet.”
I sat up from her arms and just looked at everyone in the room. They were all looking at me with apprehension. “Cassius will be alright, Jemma,” Tiffany said, trying to reassure me.
I felt terrible that the stupid rogues had ruined her party. Nicky ran over to me and sat beside me. I wrapped an arm around him. “Don’t cry, Mommy.”
“I love you, Nicky.” I kissed the top of his head. My mother suddenly stiffened, and her eyes glazed over.
She stood up and looked at the gathered pack members. “Your alpha just gave me the all-clear. The fight is over. Our pack has prevailed.” She announced as everyone cheered and clapped.
“Where is Cassius?” I demanded as I got to my feet. I was still a little unsteady, but my sister stood at my side.
My mother’s eyes glazed over for a second. “Your father said they are bringing him to the hospital” She barely finished talking, and I was at the heavy iron door struggling to get it open.
Tiffany and my mother helped me get it open, and then I sprinted out of the room and up the stairs. “Jemma!” My mother called me, but I ignored her. I had to get to my mate and fast.
I ran out of the packhouse and towards the hospital. I slammed the hospital doors open, and frantic nurses and our doctors were running around assessing the injured warriors that had been brought in. “Where is he?” I demanded.
The front door swung open, and my father and brother walked in, followed by several warriors carrying someone on the stretcher. The scent told me it was Cassius. I ran towards him but was held back by my father. “CASSIUS!” I yelled and struggled to get away from my father. I growled loudly at him. “Let me go!” I screamed. “I have to get to him!” I struggled.
“You have to calm down, Jemma,” My father ordered me. I managed to get free of him and ran down the hall after the warriors carrying my unconscious mate. He was sickeningly pale and unmoving. For a moment, I thought I saw his eyes open before closing again. They took him into the operating room, and I tried following only to be grabbed by my father again.
“CASSIUS!” I screamed over and over as tears fell down my face. I looked through the window and saw Dr. Mitchell running around trying to stabilize my mate. He had the paddles they use to restart hearts, and I broke free from my father again and ran through the doors just as the doctor shocked Cassius’s heart. Leonora was howling in my head. I tried lunging Cassius again, but my father managed to grab me.
“Hold him down!” The doctor ordered as Cassius started to convulse. I swear I saw his eyes opened again as his body thrashed.
I started sobbing as I felt helpless. My legs felt weak, and the life force of my mate was leaving him. He coughed up b***d as the doctor worked frantically. “CASSIUS!” I screamed again.
“Alpha! You need to get her out of here so we can concentrate!” The doctor was one of the few pack members that could scream orders at my father.
“NO!” I struggled at my father had to use all of his strength to drag me from the operating room. Cassius was now still on the table, but there was b***d everywhere. “NO!”
My father dragged me out of the room, and I felt myself wanting to collapse, but my father held me tight, and I just sobbed into his bare chest. “Daddy.” I sobbed, and he leaned his chin on the top of my head.
‘Cassius and Enoch need us close to heal them.’ Leonora told me in my head. I could hear the grief in her voice.
‘Is he dying?’ I replied to her.
‘Not if we are with him, he won’t.’
I sniffled and pulled back slightly from my father. “I need to get in there, Dad. Enoch and Cassius need me and Leonora to heal them.”
He sighed and let me go. I walked into the operating room and looked at my mate. The bleeding had stopped, and his color had returned to normal. The doctor turned to me. “We stabilized him.”
“I need to touch him. His wolf needs my wolf.”
Dr. Mitchell nodded. “Yes, I know.”
I stepped forward and grabbed Cassius’s hand. The sparks of electricity that flowed through my body made me calm down. The twins began kicking, and I placed my other hand on my belly.
“I injected the antidote for the silver that I believe was laced with wolfsbane. I believe he may be out of the woods.” Dr. Mitchell explained as my father came into the room and stood behind him. “I am sorry for yelling at you, Alpha Phillip.”
“You did what you had to do, Dr. Mitchell.” He patted the doctor’s shoulder. “Is he going to be alright? We can’t lose our king.”
The doctor took a deep breath. “I believe he will be alright, especially with his mate at his side.”
My father took a deep breath. “I need to call his parents.” He looked at me. “Jemma, I will be outside the hospital addressing the pack, alright.”
I nodded but didn’t look at him. I was hyper-focused on my mate. “Okay, Dad,” I said quietly as tears fell down my cheeks. Cassius was breathing steadily. I felt a hand on my shoulder.
“Jemma,” It was Dr. Mitchell. “We need to move him into a recovery room,” He explained. I just nodded as a few nurses walked up to the bed and prepared to move it.
I walked beside the bed as they wheeled it down the hall. We entered another room, and Dr. Mitchell put a chair beside the bed for me to sit. I kept my hand entwined with his and lay my head on the bed. My eyes felt heavy, and I closed them. I don’t know how long I was asleep till I felt two sharp kicks in my abdomen and opened my eyes and saw his eyes were open too. I squeezed his hand. “Cassius!” I nearly shouted to him. I leaned over to k**s him as tears fell out of my eyes. Sparks shot through me as he returned the k**s.
“Jemma,” His voice came out hoarse.
I rested my forehead against his. “You came back to me.”
“Always,” He whispered as I crawled into the bed beside him. I took his hand and placed it on my belly. The twins started kicking.
“They miss their Daddy,” I said to him as a soft smile spread onto his face. Then the door of the room burst open. I looked up to see Izzy and Terry rushing in with my parents close behind.
Izzy ran to the other side of the bed and threw her arms around Cassius. “Oh, Cassy,” She said with tears in her eyes. “My Cassy.” She squeezed him tight as Terry stood beside her.
“Good to see you are alright, son.” Terry smiled at him.
I beside him with our hands still intertwined on my belly.
“Sorry to frighten you, Mom,” Cassius said to his mother in a still hoarse voice. Terry held an opened bottle of water to him. Cassius tried to grab it with his other hand, but it still seemed weak. So Izzy grabbed the bottle and gently held it to his lips, letting him get a drink.
“Thanks, Mom.” He said, sounding better.
“We came here as soon as we got off the phone with Phil,” Terry explained. “Deke is here also.”
My father stepped forward. “We captured a few of the rogues, and that b***h I forgot her name. She is locked up too screaming about her brother.”
Terry looked at Phil. “What b***h?”
“Olivia,” Cassius spoke out. “It was Olivia and her brother Joshua.”
Terry’s eyes widened and then darkened. “That son of a b***h Wayne. I should have known. He was overly curious about where you were these last couple of days. I thought nothing of it telling him you were here.” He clenched his fists.
“Olivia was behind this?” I growled as I looked into Cassius’s eyes.
Deke and Zion walked into the room. It was getting crowded. “Thank the goddess, you are alright,” Deke exclaimed, standing next to his brother. I could see the family resemblance.
“Alpha Phillip, we have all of the prisoners subdued with wolfsbane,” Zion said to my father.
“Thank you, Beta.” My father replied. I could see he and his new beta were still formal with each other. They hadn’t known each other long and were still getting used to each other.
“How was Olivia involved?” Terry asked Cassius.
“I heard a female scream as the fighting died down, and I saw her being dragged by a pair of rather large rogues. She said they were holding her hostage and would kill her if I didn’t give up the crown,” He explained, making my b***d boil. “I guess the deluded b***h told them she was my mate.” Cassius chuckled dryly at that. I growled, and Cassius squeezed my hand. “I told them to kill her. She isn’t my mate.” Cassius looked into my eyes. I couldn’t help but smile. “Then I heard a click and turned to see Joshua holding a gun on me. Then he shot me before I could react.”
“I killed that little bastard,” My father snarled. “That’s two kings I have saved.”
Cassius rolled his eyes. “Thanks, Phil.”
“Yeah, thanks, Phil,” Terry said to my father.
Dr. Mitchell walked into the room. “Damn, there are a lot of people in here.” He chuckled. “Alpha, the king needs to recover.”
“But we need to get to the bottom of the attack,” Terry interjected.
“But we need to get to the bottom of the attack,” Terry interjected.
My father sighed. “I understand that, Terry. But I think we should let Cassius and Jemma rest first. The prisoners aren’t going anywhere. I say we let them rot for a little while.”
Terry grabbed Izzy and turned to my dad. “I believe you are right, Phil. But Izzy and I are staying here tonight.”
My dad scoffed. “Of course you are. I’ll have your usual room made up.”
Izzy leaned down and kissed Cassius on the forehead. “I’m just happy you will be alright, Cassy.”
He wrapped his arms around her. “Thank you, Mom.”
Izzy looked at me. “Take good care of him, Jemma. Thank you for being the mate he needs.”
I reached over and clasped her hand. “I will never leave his side, Izzy.”
Terry patted Cassius’s shoulder then clasped Izzy’s hand. “Come on, dear.”
“Jemma, we’ll watch Nick tonight. He is with Tiffany right now,” My father explained.
“Thank you, Dad,” I responded as he leaned down to k**s my cheek. He nodded at Cassius.
“Thank you for not dying; I don’t think my daughter would have handled that well.”
Cassius snorted. “Well, thank you for killing that little bastard Joshua and locking up Olivia.”
“I had her injected with a s**t load of wolfsbane.” MY father smirked.
“Good job, Alpha.”
“Goodnight, you two.” My father nodded to me, and my mother walked over and kissed my forehead. Then they walked out and joined Izzy and Terry in the hall. I heard them laughing as they walked out.
Dr. Mitchell took a deep breath. “I just need to examine you, your majesty,” He said to Cassius.
I rolled off the bed to give Dr. Mitchell the space he needs. I waddled into the bathroom to relieve myself and walked back into the room. The doctor was talking to Cassius.
“The antidote appeared to have worked fast. Your heart sounds fine and undamaged. I’ll have you stay overnight and see how you feel in the morning.”
“Thank you, doctor,” Cassius nodded to him. “I never knew an antidote to work so fast.”
“It’s a special formula I developed.”
“Is it possible for you to share the formula with my doctors at the royal hospital?” He asked.
“The ingredients are rather expensive.”
Cassius shrugged. “Money is no object if it can save lives. Please. I will have you talk to the head of the royal hospital.”
“If that is your wish, your majesty,” Dr. Mitchell said to him. “If it can save lives.”
“You will be rewarded handsomely for it.” Cassius smiled.
The doctor laughed. “I don’t need rewards.”
“Fine, I’ll just keep the million dollars then.” Cassius snorted
“Well, if you insist, I’ll take it in small bills.” Dr. Mitchell joked, causing Cassius to laugh. “I am going to leave you two alone now. I have to go check on the others that were injured.”
“How many casualties were there?” I asked.
“There were ten of our warriors killed and thirteen severely injured.”
He replied to me.
“Please tell me Erick Walters wasn’t among the dead.”
The doctor shook his head. “No, he wasn’t.”
I sighed with relief that Erick wasn’t killed, but I felt sad for the ones who were. “Thank you, doc.”
He smiled at me. “Get some rest, Jemma. You need your strength to help heal your mate and for your pups. Goodnight.”
“Goodnight,” I replied as he walked out the door. I lay down next to Cassius again and rested my face on his bare chest. His arm wrapped around me, and the other rested on my belly. The twins kicked a few times before settling down. “I love you, Cassius. I can’t believe I almost lost you.”
He placed a soft k**s on the top of my head. “Let’s not dwell on that, love.”
I felt the pups moving inside of me. “Our poor pups aren’t even born yet, and they have been through so much already.”
“I know.” He replied softly. “I’m just thankful they are safe and that you didn’t try to run out onto the battlefield. I know you wanted to be out fighting.”
I laughed. “I sure did. Sitting in the safe room is not my style. But I knew I wasn’t in any condition to be fighting.”
“That’s my queen.”
“But I would have ripped that b***h to shreds if I had been out there.”
He laughed. “I do not doubt that, love. I would have loved to see you out there ripping rogues apart.”
I looked up into his blue eyes. “Let’s try to sleep so our wolves can work on healing you fully.”
He kissed my lips. “Sleep well, my Queen. I love you more than there are stars in the sky.”
“You are so cheesy,” I giggled. “And I love you more than there are grains of sand on a beach.” I lay my head on his chest again and felt my eyes grow heavy. We both quickly fell asleep in each other’s arms.
