The Alpha King's Rebellious Queen -
The Alpha King’s Rebellious Queen Chapter 99
Cassius’s POV
Phil held open the large iron door to his pack’s dungeon as we all filed inside. It was set up similar to the one back at the palace. We descended stairs that went underground and landed at a large, dimly lit room with a desk beside another large metal door. A guard was sitting at the desk, and he rose to his feet and bowed.
“Alpha, we have moved the female prisoner to the large interrogation room, at your request,” The young male guard stated to Phil.
“Thank you, Ryan. Buzz us in.” He still sounded angry from earlier. The guard pushed a button, and Phil opened the large door to allow us to walk into the corridor. Jemma looked at her father.
“Dad, are you angry with me?” She asked as he closed the door on us. She placed her hand on his arm.
His green eyes regarded his daughter. “Let’s just focus on the task at hand, Jemma.”
She sighed as he brushed past her. “Dad,” She called to him, and he stopped and turned around again. “Have you heard the latest Gojira song?”
I looked at my father and shrugged. I was mildly baffled that she would bring that up right now. But I noticed Phil smile softly at her.
“It’s a banger, isn’t it?”
She smiled at him. “Totally bitchin.”
Phil took a deep breath, and it seemed his foul mood lifted. He placed his arm around Jemma’s shoulder, and they continued talking about the band as we walked down the corridor of cells. I leaned towards my father. “I can’t wait till I have a thing like that with my daughter.”
My father smirked at me. “It a magical to have a close relationship with your children, son.” He patted my back.
I looked into one of the cells to see Paul looking out at us. He wasn’t chained. I saw his gaze linger on Jemma, and I had to suppress a growl. But his eyes looked sad more than anything, and for a moment, I felt terrible for him.
Zion and Deke took up the rear of our group. They had been more or less silent. Then Deke looked at my father. “This dungeon is set up like ours back at the palace.”
“That’s because they were both designed by John MacKenzie, Phil’s father.” My Dad explained to my beta. “I mean, ours is bigger, of course, but both employ the same basic setup.”
Deke nodded with an impressed look. “I never realized the influence the MacKenzies have had on this kingdom.”
Phil turned to him. “My family and the Furys have been entwined for centuries. We have always served the royal family,” He glanced at Jemma. “And now our families are connected by b***d and not just loyalty.”
Jemma smirked and looked at her belly. I couldn’t help but feel pride in that statement. We all stopped at the door, and Phil opened it. It was a large room with chairs, and two-way mirror, and another door. I could see Olivia within the other room. She wasn’t chained up in the barren room. She sat in a corner with her knees against her chest.
“I think I want to speak with her first, alone,” I said to the group.
“Do you think that is wise, son?” My father asked.
“She can’t hurt me, Dad. Besides, you can all hear what is being said, right Phil?”
My father-in-law nodded and pointed to an intercom on the wall beside the mirror. “Yes, we can hear everything.”
I looked at Jemma, and she was glaring through the glass at Olivia. “Jemma,” I said to her. She shook her head and looked at me. Her eyes flashed from black to violet.
‘She is fighting to keep Leonora from coming out and killing Olivia,’ Enoch said to me.
‘I can see that. Can you tell your mate to chill for a minute?’
He laughed. ‘Easier said than done, Cassius.’
I sighed. “Jemma, I’ll be alright. You stay here and listen.”
“I know you will be alright, Cassius. I just have the urge to rip that b***h’s head off her ugly neck.” She growled.
I pulled her to me and laughed as I kissed the top of her head. “I know you do, love. But I have to speak with her first.” I felt my mate calm slightly as I released her. Her father pushed a chair towards the mirror, and she sat down while our fathers and the two betas stood behind her.
“We’ll let you know when Maria and Ward get here with Wayne,” Deke said to me.
“I want a piece of Wayne,” My father growled.
“Okay, I’ll let you deal with him then, Dad.”
He nodded. “That’s my boy.”
“I told my border guards just to let them right in,” Phil added.
“Thanks, Phil,” I said and then opened the door and walked into the barren room. Olivia looked up at me with red eyes. She sprang to her feet and tried hugging me. I stepped back from her. I heard Jemma growling and had to refrain from laughing.
“Oh, Cassy. I am so glad you came to see me. You do care,” Olivia cried as she tried touching me again.
I growled in my king tone, and she froze. “You will not touch me, “I hissed to her. “This is not a reunion, Olivia. In case you haven’t noticed, you are in grave trouble. There is a chance you will never see daylight again.”
She looked up at me. “What did I do?”
I snorted. “Knock off the innocent facade and answer my questions, and perhaps I will show your mercy.”
She sighed. “I didn’t have anything to do with the attack. It was my father and brother. It was their idea. They just needed me as bait.”
“You could have said no.”
“I was hoping you would see me in trouble and come to your senses and realize that I am the one you are meant to be with,” She reached out and touched my arm. I heard another growl coming from Jemma. “That slut is not queen worthy.”
I pulled away from her and growled again. “If I recall, you have slept around yourself, have you not?”
She opened her mouth to say something.
“That’s what I thought. And Jemma is more than worthy of being queen. You were never in consideration. Even if I hadn’t found out, Jemma was my mate that night. There were many other candidates more worthy of the position. Not you.”
She scowled at me. “So what we had together meant nothing to you? You were my first. I was your first.”
“You weren’t my first. And no. I hate to sound so callous, but you were nothing but an easy screw Olivia. It was you who got overly attached. Perhaps I should have been clearer with you.”
She sniffled and looked away from me. “I am glad my father planned your assassination. It pisses me off that he failed,” She sneered, and I heard more growling from the other room. “I hear your queen trying to get at me.”
“Oh, trust me, she wants nothing more than to rip your head from your body. And I am thinking of letting her.” I walked towards the door and placed my hand on the handle. I opened the door and walked into the other room. Jemma was being held back by her father.
“Let me in there, Cassius,” Jemma demanded.
“No,” I said to her. “Not until we speak with Wayne Irwin.”
She snarled as her father let her go. I blocked the door as she stepped towards me. I placed my hands on her shoulder. “Cassius, why are you sparing her?” She growled at me.
“I’m not sparing her, Jemma. We need to get all of the facts before we decide her and Wayne’s fate. You need to calm down and use your brain.”
That only made her growl and pull away from me. She walked to the opposite side of the room and punched the wall.
“Jemma!” He father yelled at her. “Cassius is right. You need to calm down.”
She turned her glare to her father. I stepped towards her as she sat in one of the chairs with her hand on her belly. “Are you alright,” I asked her.
“I’m fine.” She mumbled as she closed her eyes.
Cassius, my guards, reported that Maria has arrived with Wayne Irwin and a few of your warriors. They are on their way here.”
‘Maria,’ I mind-linked my delta. ‘Do you know where the dungeon is?’
‘Yes, I believe so,’ She replied.
‘Okay, bring Irwin straight here when you arrive.’ I replied to her. “They are on their way.”
“We’ll place him in the room with his daughter,” Phil stated.
I nodded. “That’s fine, Phil.”
“I want to speak to Wayne alone, though,” My father interjected. “I need to look that son of a b***h in the eyes.”
I sighed as Phil put a hand on his shoulder. “Can you do that and not kill him, Terry?”
“I’ll go meet Maria and the others outside,” I stated. I looked at Jemma. “Jemma, I’ll be right back.”
“We’ll put Wayne in the other interrogation room,” Phil stated. “It’s the room across the hall.” He pointed as I opened the door. “Meet us in there. It’s a little smaller than this one, though.”
“Okay,” I replied before walking out of the room. I walked down the long corridor with a million things going through my head. I stopped at Paul’s cell. He was sitting on a metal bench and looked up when I stopped. His expression was sad, not angry. “Have you learned your lesson, warrior?”
He nodded. “Yes, your majesty. I should never have put my hands on the queen. I never wanted to hurt her or endanger your pups.” He sighed.
“I will speak to Alpha MacKenzie about your punishment. Maybe have him lessen the severity.” The warrior offered a small smile before looking down at the ground again. Taking a deep breath, I marched down the rest of the corridor and then up the stairs. I walked outside just as Maria, Ward, and about six of my warriors reached the building with Wayne in tow. The former delta looked like he had been beaten pretty severely. His hands were tied together with silver cuffs, and I could smell wolfsbane on them.
“Sorry, he resisted arrest and put up a good fight,” Maria explained as they stopped in front of me.
“I take it that you did most of the fighting?” I asked my delta.
She shrugged. “Maybe.”
I looked at Wayne. “My father would like to speak with you, Mr. Irwin.”
He looked up at me and snarled. “You both betrayed us.” He spat at me.
I laughed. “You are as deluded as your children. Or I should say just your daughter. Your son is dead, thanks to Alpha MacKenzie.”
The old delta growled and fought against the guards holding him. “My son should have been your delta, not that- that-thing you call a woman,” He spat.
Maria snorted and rolled her eyes. I returned the gaze to her. I looked at the warriors. “You guys wait here.” I looked at Maria and Ward. “You two drag Irwin inside.”
They nodded as the warriors released Wayne, and he fell to the ground. He tried getting up, but Maria kicked him in the back of the knees and fell again. “Oops, sorry did the thing knock you down,” She snarled, and I snickered as she and Ward picked him up roughly. “Stand up,” She ordered him.
I opened the door, and they dragged him inside. He refused to walk, and I listened as his feet clunked against the metal stairs. I shook my head. When we finally reached the interrogation room, he was not saying a word, but he was walking independently. The others were waiting for us. “Phil, my warriors looked a bit lost about where to go. They are standing right outside the building.”
“I’ll have Melinda guide them to the dining room or the common room.” He said to me as his eyes glazed over while he mind-linked his luna.
“Thank you.”
Jemma was leaning against the wall beside the other room with her eyes closed. I placed a hand on her shoulder. “Love, are you alright?”
She opened her eyes and sighed. “I am just tired already.”
I clasped her hand and squeezed gently. “Well, after all of this, you should rest. We can wait till later to return home.”
“We promised to take Nicky for ice cream.”
I sighed. “Love, you need your rest. We can get ice cream here. Nick will understand.”
She nodded. “Okay.”
I pulled her into the interrogation room. Everyone squeezed into the smaller space. The actual interrogation room had a metal table with two chairs. Wayne was in the room cuffed to the table. My father was talking to Phil. I had Jemma sit in a chair and looked at my father. “So, are you still going in there alone?”
He nodded. “Yes,” He replied and looked at Phil. I wasn’t sure what they were discussing. He walked into the other room, and Wayne looked up. I sat in a chair beside Jemma to listen to my father question his old delta.
“Wayne Irwin,” My father scowled at him. “How long were we friends for?” He paced in front of the other wolf, who remained silent. “Year, decades. We celebrated each other’s milestones. The birth of our pups. I was the best man at your wedding. I stood beside you at your mate’s funeral. I gave you everything. And this is how I am repaid. Tell me about your attempted assassination plot against my son.”
Wayne glared at my father. “Your son betrayed us. All of us. My son Joshua should have been his delta. Joshua trained for years to become the best, and your son picked that dyke over him. Then there is what he did to my Olivia. He used her for s*x. Made her believe that he loved her.” He explained, glaring past my father at the mirror. I felt his eyes on me despite the two-way mirror.
“Please. Your daughter is a deluded twit. Cassius was upfront about his relationship with her. He never leads her on.”
Jemma leaned over to me. “You didn’t lead her on, did you?” She asked me.
I shook my head. “I don’t think I did.”
“That’s bullshit, Terrance, and you know it. So, yes, I hired a few rogues to attack this territory the other night. I didn’t tell my son to try to assassinate Cassius. That was his idea. Olivia got him the silver bullets. But I won’t condemn their actions.”
“So you are saying my son deserved to die? Why because Joshua felt he was entitled to the delta position? Joshua was an arrogant fool. I watched him training. He was not a good fighter. He assumed because he was your son that he would inherit the position.”
“But Cassius picked that woman,” Wayne said woman with disgust, “over Joshua.”
“You said you were alright with it. You specifically told me that you thought that Maria Hall was a good choice as Delta.”
Wayne shrugged. “I lied, Terrance.”
“And what a fool I was thinking you were my friend.”
“I am your friend Terrance.”
My father grabbed Wayne by the throat and glared into his face. “You tried to have my son killed.”
“But he lived. Unlike my son, who is now dead.”
My father dropped Wayne and snickered. “Well, good riddance to useless rubbish. Just like I am about to do to you.” My father moved around the room. “Before I kill you, tell me. How was your daughter involved?”
Wayne spat at my father. “Why should I tell you anything? You aren’t going to spare her. My entire family line ends with her. Centuries of service to the crown, and this is what it comes to.”
“You all brought it upon yourselves, Irwin.” My father sneered at him.
I got up from the chair and walked into the room. Wayne snarled as I walked towards him and picked him up from his chair. “Maria, come in here, please,” I said to my delta through the glass. A second later, she entered. “Unlock his cuffs,” I ordered her.
She pulled out a set of keys and unlocked Wayne’s cuffs. Her brown eyes were looking into his the entire time.
I released him. “On your knees,” I ordered him in my tone. Wayne dropped to his knees. “Wayne Irwin, former Delta of the kingdom of Lycanis, you have been found guilty of crimes against the crown. You plotted to have me, the King, assassinated. You are being sentenced to death. Do you have anything else to say for yourself?”
“Tell my daughter I love her, and I am proud of her.” He replied as Maria scoffed. He looked up at her and sneered. Maria stepped forward and was about to strike him when I held her back.
I pulled her back as my father stood before Wayne. His hand turned to claws as his wolf surged forward. Without a word, my father slashed Wayne’s neck with one swipe. B***d poured out of the former delta as he gasped. He fell to the ground, and his body writhed as he bled out. His healing ability was hampered by silver and wolfsbane, so he quickly bled out, and within minutes his body was still. I released Maria, and she leaned down to check if he was dead.
“He’s dead.” She stood up and stepped around the large pool of b***d. We then walked out of the room.
“Sorry about the mess Phil.”
My father-in-law snorted. “It’s nothing new, Cassius.”
I looked at Jemma. “Are you sure you can do to Olivia what my father did to Wayne?”
She stood up, and her hand turned to a claw as her eyes turned black. “I’m ready,” Leonora’s voice spoke through Jemma’s mouth.
“Leonora, Jemma has to do this.”
A growl fell out of my mate. “Fine.” She snarled, and then she gave control back to Jemma. “Sorry, Leonora is out for b***d.”
“I can see that. But can you still do it yourself?”
Jemma shrugged. “Like I have never killed anyone before.” She walked out of the room, and we followed my queen back across the hall. I stopped Jemma at the inner door.
“I’m going in there with you,” I told her. I looked at the rest. “Is that alright?”
They all shrugged. I walked into the room with Jemma. Olivia was pacing and stopped as we entered. She glared at Jemma with a growl. Jemma rolled her eyes. “Shut up, twit.”
I stepped between Jemma and Olivia. “I am sorry to inform you that your father is now dead. He admitted to plotting my assassination. Now it’s your turn.”
She trembled. “Cassy, please.” She again used her nasally voice to sound innocent.
Jemma stepped around me. “Quit acting all innocent, b***h. You know what you did.”
“Cassius is supposed to be mine. I should be queen. Those should be my pups. You are nothing compared to me.” Olivia yelled as her eyes flashed. I sensed her about to shift into her wolf.
“Tell you wolf to stand down,” I ordered through my tone. Oliva sighed as her eyes returned to their usual color.
I stepped aside and allowed Jemma to take the lead. “Oliva Irwin, you have been accused of being an accomplice in the attempted assassination of King Cassius.”
“I was merely a pawn.” Olivia pleaded with me. “My father and brother threatened me.”
“Tell me the truth, Olivia. How involved were you in the plot?” I asked in my tone.
She trembled. “I helped map out the attack. I supplied my brother with the silver bullets.” She confessed.
“So you did want me dead?”
Olivia shrugged. “If I couldn’t have you, then no one should.” She glared at Jemma again.
“Well, now you get to die knowing the man you loved will spend the rest of his life with me,” Jemma smirked at her.
With a growl, Olivia lunged at Jemma. Despite being heavily pregnant, Jemma easily sidestepped the attack and slashed Olivia across the face with her clawed hand. B***d ran out of Olivia’s cheek. Olivia turned and snarled again and tried lunging for Jemma. I grabbed her.
“On your knees,” I ordered her with my tone. She fell to her knees. “Okay, Jemma, just do it quickly.”
Jemma glared down at Olivia. “Do you have any last words?”
“No.” Olivia snarled again.
Jemma raised her clawed hand and, in one swift movement, slashed it across Olivia’s throat.
Olivia tried to scream as she grabbed her throat. B***d poured out of the wound, but thanks to the wolfsbane, she was unable to heal. She looked up at me with pleading eyes. But I backed away from her as she fell to the ground. Within minutes she was dead.
Jemma and I walked out of the interrogation room. “Well, I am glad that is over with.” She said nonchalantly.
“That didn’t bother you?”
Jemma snorted. “Why would it bother me?”
“You just killed another she-wolf. “
“That she-wolf threatened my mate.” She stated with a growl.
I sighed. “Let’s go get cleaned up, and then you are resting before we head back home.”
She nodded as we followed everyone else out of the room and down the corridor. I stopped at Paul’s cell again. “Phil,” I called to the alpha. He stopped and turned to me. “I hate to go against your orders as alpha of this pack. But can you release him?”
Phil narrowed his eyes at me and looked at Paul.
“I think he learned his lesson.”
“I-I did.” Paul offered.
Phil sighed. “Fine. I will release you, Paul. But my other orders still stand.”
“Yes, I will not go near either one of your daughters.”
“And you will have to work harder to regain your position as squad leader. Do you understand?” Phil told the warrior.
“Yes, Alpha.” Paul bowed.
“Okay, I will have Ryan come and release you,” Phil stated and then walked away. I followed him out. Jemma had been walking ahead, speaking with Maria. They were waiting as we walked outside.
“What was that all about?” Jemma asked me.
“I asked your father to release your ex.”
She tilted her head. “Why?”
“I sort of felt bad for the guy, and I think he learned his lesson,” I replied to her.
She wrapped her arms around me. “My king is a big old softie.”
I leaned down and kissed her forehead. “Don’t tell anyone, alright. It will be our little secret.”
She laughed. “Whatever you say.” Her eyes drooped as she leaned her head against my chest.
“Let’s get you some rest before we head home. We’ll stop and get our pup ice cream on the way.”
She nodded and yawned. “That sounds like a plan.”
The group was standing around us. My beta was talking to his brother. Maria was chatting with Ward. “You guys can take the warriors and head home. Jemma and I will be along in a few hours.”
Maria and Ward nodded. “Can we get something to eat first?” Maria asked. “Luna Melinda has put out a nice lunch for us.”
“Of course,” I told her.
“My mother is always on the ball with the food,” Jemma laughed. “I could use a little food too. Thinking a peanut butter and pickle sandwich.”
“With mayo?” I cringed.
She nodded. “Of course.”
“My poor pups,” I mumbled. “You go on up to your room, and I will get you your sandwich.” I kissed her and listened to my father-in-law make the whip sound while my own father laughed. “You two are assholes.” They just laughed harder. We all walked into the packhouse. Jemma went right up the stairs. I went into the kitchen to fic her sandwich. After making the sandwich, I carried it upstairs, and Jemma was already sleeping. Sighing, I set the sandwich down. I went downstairs to check on Nick. He was playing with a couple of other pups, including the one he called his girlfriend. Satisfied he was alright, I went back upstairs and into Jemma’s room. I took off my shoes and lay beside her on the bed. Nick ran into the room.
“What are you doing, Daddy?”
“I am about to take a nap with you, mother.”
He ran over to the room and climbed up. I picked him up and placed him between Jemma and I. “Do you want to join us? Then we’ll get ice cream later on our way home.”
He smiled, “Okay, Daddy.” He snuggled down on the pillow beside Jemma. I put my arm around them, and it didn’t take long before we all fell asleep.
