HUDSON

Rex and I made it to the pack gates just before the car pulled up with Austin and Amy in.

Both of them opened their doors and climbed out at the exact same time.

Amy looked the same, her blonde hair and green eyes, her long legs in some cut-off shorts with a tank top.

She smiled. “Hello, stranger,” she said as she came up and planted a k**s on my lips.

Asher growled in my head, and I pushed away from her.

She looked at me, startled by my reaction, but recovered quickly. She looked me over before something registered in her head. “You have a mate,” she says to me quietly.

“Yeah, I have,” I said.

Amy looked at me with those bright green eyes. “Oh well, I knew you would sooner or later,” she said.

“What brings you here?” blurts Rex with caution.

Amy looked at him. “Well, Rex, you haven’t changed much either,” she said, but she didn’t get closer to him. “Well, if you must know, I needed help replaceing Madison. I found out that Austin here is her brother; he is helping me. I have a personal grudge against her,” she says with a hint of anger sweeping her voice.

“What did she do?” I asked.

Amy looked at me but sighed. “Well, as you know, my brother and parents are the only werewolves except for me. Madison came to town a few months ago. She was Tristan’s mate. She rejected him, and he accepted it. All was fine until three weeks ago; we started getting rogues into the pack. They were slaughtering everyone, but they were looking for someone. They kept calling her name, but no one knew who she was,” she said. “Well, a rogue with bright yellow eyes killed my brother and father. My mother is back at the packhouse, heartbroken. She died two days ago, she gave birth to another daughter before she died, and my baby sister is all that is left besides me,” she says as a tear slides down her face.

I could smell a baby’s scent coming from the car, but there was no movement, only silent snores. Her sister was sleeping.

Amy looked at the car and smiled but turned her head back with a hatred expression on her face. “I hid when it happened; the rogue was Madison’s father. Both were in my house; my mother and I were hiding underneath the floorboards. She was pregnant. The rogue kept on about the girl that they needed to get. Madison stabbed my brother as he was lying there, dying on the ground in the heart, but before that, she wanted information about a 9-year-old. She wanted to kill him as she was the queen of the rogues. The rogue I recently learned was her father. He is not the baby’s dad. He is someone else.”

I looked at Austin, who looked up at me, a tear escaping. “I only stayed with them for one reason, not just for Brooke, but also to replace him. They hid my brother from me,” he said. “He was placed in a bunker away from the house we stayed in. Aubrey gave birth to a son just before moving in with Jackson. He was just a baby then; she never wanted him. The rogue, Madison’s father, Damian, never wanted him. He always made Aubrey sleep with other men to get what he wanted; he refused her as a mate, but when they fled, he must have taken her back. He wanted to drown him at birth, but Aubrey said she found him a home. We never saw him again.”

“What has that got to do with everything?” asked Rex.

“Well, Madison was looking for her brother; I know where he is. I’m going to take Austin to get him after here. He’s a wolf. He came into the pack after being born. A priest knew he was a werewolf, but they couldn’t replace him a home in a human town, so they sent him to an orphanage in our pack. Before the rogues attacked, about three weeks before, they sent all the boys and girls who needed homes to neighboring packs. I don’t know which one he will be in, but I think you could ask around. My brother died protecting the kids, I want to make sure he is safe, and Madison and her lunatic father don’t get to him,” says Amy.

I stared at them both. I needed answers.

“What girl were they on about?” I asked, suddenly remembering what she mentioned before.

“They never said a name, but it might be to do with who was taken from them, as Madison said she was going to leave the best scar on her back with the rest,” Amy said.

Madison was on about my mate. She’s on about Brooke.

I looked at Austin and Rex, who seemed to realize who she was on about it. Amy looked at all three of us. “You know who she is,” she said.

I looked back at her. “She’s my mate,” I said with a slight growl slipping through my lips.

Amy looked back at me with widened eyes.

“You need to protect her,” she says. “Hudson, can I stay here for a few days? Maybe you could contact some alphas to see who had the orphaned children sent to them.”

I frowned.

I don’t want her here.

“Hudson, I need to see my mate,” says Austin.

Rex looked at me warningly.

“Ok, but you will stay in one of the houses. Austin will take you and the baby to the house by the clearing on the south side. It is quiet for you both,” I said, trying to wrap my head around all this.

Austin looks shocked. “Why there?” he says through the mind link.

“We have history, both Rex and I, with her,” I said, leaving out the information that would cause more problems when people replace out.

Austin looked back but nodded. They got back into the car and headed to the gates to get inside.

I needed to tell my father we had a guest, but I needed to tell him about Amy.

Rex and I look on as the car goes into the pack lands. “You know Daisy is going to kill me,” says Rex. “Brooke won’t like it either, she may not be close to you yet, but we need to tell them who she is.”

I looked back at him. “How can you tell my sister and mate that we both slept with the same human girl?” I said.

He glared at me. “Well, we need to tell your father. He will kill us both,” he says.

“I’m going to be in s**t creek with Daisy; she won’t accept it,” he says. “I have a daughter with her. She put her up for adoption with another werewolf pack. Why would we do such a stupid thing?”

“I only slept with her a handful of times,” I say, but Rex shakes his head. “You fell for her bro, and you fell hard.”

I sighed. I know he’s right; I was returning to Amy after we helped Jackson get his daughter. I was going to make her my chosen mate after all this, but I found Brooke; now my head is so confused.

I know Asher has blocked me. It was due to the k**s Amy planted on my lips. I could feel it going up, knowing he was pissed at me. He never knew I slept with Amy as I would block him whenever we were together.

Rex sighed. “We had best get this over with; your father will kill me, and so will Daisy. I would be lucky if she stayed with me after all this,” he said with a slight gulp.

I don’t say anything as we both headed back toward the packhouse.
