The Alpha’s Mute Mate -
Episode 68
AMY
She saved me; she saved everyone.
I look towards Hudson; he’s talking to his father, Todd and Alpha Josh.
“Amy,” says a voice I love so much. I look up to see my mate, Shane. He sits next to me, my sister sleeping in my arms.
“How is she?” He asks, looking at my sister then back at me.
“Rose is ok, I was trying to get to safety, but a rogue chased us but Brooke…” I say, but I had to stop as my tears started to fall from my eyes. I sigh.
Shane wraps his arm around my shoulder. “I know, baby, she saved everyone,” he says.
After a few moments, “I’m going to go and help people; I think you both need to go inside for rest,” he says looking between the both of us.
He places a k**s on my lips and gets up to move; I watch him as he goes to help Rex and Daisy with a few members who need treatment.
I can’t help but think. I never gave much thought to the situation when I came here. I was in love with Hudson, but as soon as I met Shane and I knew we were mates, it changed. My emotions were everywhere when I came here to the pack. I knew seeing Hudson would bring back some memories of our time together, but I also knew that I was to blame for everything since I came here when I stayed. I was selfish, but I needed to replace my uncle, the only family member I had around me, especially when it came to my baby sister and now he was dead because of a mad man’s beliefs.
I stare past all the dead bodies and see a girl walking towards me. She was covered in b***d and looked like she was numb. “Can I sit, please?” She asks. All I could do was nod. My sister snoring in my arms, I knew I needed to go into the packhouse, but I didn’t want to move her just in case she woke up.
“I can’t believe what happened,” the girl says. When I turned to look at her, she was crying but no sound, just raw tears falling down her face. “I lost my parents and brother tonight,” she said in a whimper.
I feel for her more, “I’m so sorry,” I say in a whisper.
She doesn’t say anything but stares out.
I didn’t know what else to say; I know when people lose someone, no one knows how to talk to you as that’s what happened to me when I lost all my family. I was born a human in the werewolf pack. No one liked me except my family. When my family was killed, everyone left me alone, and I was left to take care of my sister all by myself. After Madison and her father killed them, I wanted revenge for my family, but I knew my pack would not help me. That’s why I found Austin on social media trying to replace his brother.
I look to the girl who has been silent for a few minutes. “What’s your name?” I ask.
She looks at me. “My name is Annabella,” she says with a small smile.
“Would you like to……” I start to talk, but someone snarls; I look to see Alpha Josh looking straight at us.
Annabella’s eyes go wide.
“MATE,” she whispers.
I look between the both of them; they are mates.
I nudge her. “Go to your mate,” I say in a whisper.
She looks at me with grieve and sadness in her eyes. “What if he rejects me,” she says, but suddenly Alpha Josh is standing right in front of her; he kneels down in front of her, placing one of his hands on her cheek lifting her face to look at him.
Annabella didn’t say anything; I cleared my throat. “Alpha Josh, this is Annabella; she suffered great losses this evening,” I say.
Alpha Josh looks at me, but I carry on talking to him. “She lost her family this evening; I think her mate should be with her, don’t you,” I say with a small smile.
He looks at me and nods but turns to Annabella. “I want to look after you, mate,” he says softly.
As soon as Alpha Josh stands up, he picks Annabella into his arms bridal style, and she begins to sob. My heart breaks for her.
“I never thought I would ever get to witness Alpha Josh replace his mate,” says Hudson as he stands next to me. I stand up with my sister still attached to me in the wrap.
I don’t say anything to him.
“Are you ignoring me or something,” he asks; I can feel his eyes on my head.
I sigh and look down at my sleeping sister. “I think I should leave the pack,” I say quietly.
“Why would you…..” he begins, but I turn to look at him with a glare. “You knew it was wrong of you even to suggest for me to stay here when you did. I wanted revenge on the ones who killed my family, but this whole mess,” I said, pointing between the two of us, “This shouldn’t have happened ever, you were a mess at the beginning when I first met you, but we both agreed that it meant nothing. You now need to think about Brooke, and I’m being honest, I made a deal with Brooke and Willow that I would not go anywhere near you,” I said.
Hudson looks at me but sighs. “I know, I wasn’t thinking straight when I saw you by the gates. I didn’t even think about Brooke in any of this,” he says. “She’s gone, and I’m on my own; I think this is the Moon Goddess’s way of punishing me for the way I treated Brooke all those years ago.”
I move from one foot to another; I can see Shane looking at us and even listening in to our conversation. “I don’t think the Moon Goddess is punishing you; I think she is giving you time to make sure you don’t f**k up again and also to make sure everything is ready for Brooke’s safe return,” I said. “Hudson, you know I’m right that I need to leave; I mean both Shane and me. This was all about revenge for me. I never wanted to cause harm between you and your mate; I liked you back then and even watched you grow into the man you were supposed to be before you came back to save Brooke.”
Hudson looks towards the house. “I knew where she was all those years ago. Before I came to your pack to get my a*s handed to me by you, I found Brooke. Well, at the time, it never registered it was her, but I was hooking up with Madison,” he says with a grim look. “I told her if I ever saw her again, I would reject her. But after being at your pack for the next few months after, I changed dramatically, and when I rescued her, I knew I wanted her from then.”
He looks at me. “I understand you want to leave, and I won’t stop you,” he says and looks over his shoulder and motions for Shane to come to join us.
When Shane comes close, he wraps his arm around me and looks at my sleeping sister but back towards Hudson. “I think Amy’s right; we should leave. I only followed her here as I knew she wanted to kill the people that killed her family,” he says, smiling. “I loved being one of your men, but I have to think about my family too.”
Hudson smiles. “An already made family is the best,” he says, but Shane smiles wider and looks at me; I nod. “There was a reason why Amy has been around here more than just revenge,” he says, and Hudson looks between the both of us.
I smile. “I’m pregnant; I wanted to replace my uncle when I got here as he would have helped me with Rose, but now I have no family left except her and Shane. I wanted to keep safe until all this was over. But also I found out that my uncle left me some money, he set up a few weeks ago to help look after my sister and me.”
Hudson smiles. “Congratulations to you both,” he says.
I can’t help but smile.
Hudson takes Shane’s hand and shakes it.
He looks at me and smiles once again. “I am truly happy for you both.”
“I think I know somewhere where you can call home,” says a voice behind him.
Hudson moves away and looks at the man who was smiling at us. “I heard what you said; my brother is the one who just found his mate. I think you both would make a great assets to our pack, and not only that, but you can also come to visit Hudson and the rest of his pack any time,” he says. He comes straight up to us, “I’m Todd, Alpha Josh’s brother.”
We smile. “We would happily accept the offer of moving to your pack,” says Shane.
Todd looks at me and smiles. “I hear that you have a great way with children, I have a son myself, and I was wondering if you would like to help me with him. I haven’t found anyone I can trust but seeing you with this sleeping beauty in your arms is amazing,” he says as he looks at my sister in my arms.
I smile. “This is my sister Rose; I have to raise her as my own,” I say with a hint of sadness sweeping in; Shane’s arm that’s around me tightens slightly.
Todd smiles. “Well, Rose and my son Beau will be best friends,” he says and looks at Hudson. “We will stay and help with the clear-up and leave to go back to our pack,” Todd says as he looks towards where his brother left. “My brother has finally found his Luna,” he says with a grin on his face.
I smile. “Annabella, her name is; he might have to be gentle with her for a little while as she lost her whole family in this war,” I say.
Everyone’s face turns into sadness. “Poor child,” says Todd. “Well, I think we all should rest and Hudson,” he says and looks back at him. “Brooke will turn up soon; her kind always come back to where they call home.”
“How do you know that?” Asks Hudson.
Todd smiles. “Ah Hudson, as you know about my family, I will state I will be sending a gift to you when we go home; you may want it to know more about your mate,” he says.
Hudson looks slightly confused something inside me hits hard. I look at Todd, who is looking at me with a smile. “You know, don’t you,” he says.
“I knew what she was while reading in the library of history, but there was nothing that told me about what her kind can do,” I said.
He nods. “There is so much no one knows, but I think all the information I have and around us should be in Hudson’s hands, especially when his mate comes back,” he says.
I look towards Hudson; he seems to have something on his mind. “What’s going on in that head of yours?” I ask.
He shakes his head. “Asher is happy to know that we can replace out more about Brooke and Willow,” he says in a weary voice.
I can tell he is hurting and missing her.
Shane walks up to him and pulls him into a man hug “Dude, she will come back,” he says, pulling away from him. “You need to be prepare and ready for when she does.”
I smile. “My mate is right; get this place ready for her,” I say. “Become the Alpha you are meant to be and show how much she means to you,” I say.
Hudson smiles. “Yeah, I will.”
“Well, when you become alpha, we will all be here celebrating with you,” says Todd.
None of us know when Brooke will be back, but we need to ensure it is all set and ready for her.
I can’t wait to start my new life in my new pack, but I still want to see Brooke’s safe return home. I hope we can be friends in the future. I never wanted to hurt anyone, even though my actions said otherwise, but I never wanted to make anyone feel like they never were loved by their mate. Hudson is not the same man I knew when he came to my pack, but I never did anything to help him, and all this will be to do with Brooke, she’s his light, and I know she will be so proud.
I’m sending prayers to the moon goddess for her safe return.
