The Alpha's Plus Size Urban Human Mate
The Alpha’s Plus Size Urban Human Mate – Chapter 54

-Ji’lahni’s POV: 2 hours later

“It’s been hours and the doc still hasn’t come out with any updates. That has to mean it’s really bad, right?” Mina asked, looking at me. When bad stuff like this happens, it brings back memories of when we lost our families. Shawna and Mina were all I had left. After that night, we had to grow up overnight. It was always us against the world. And right now, she was in there fighting for her life because she was protecting my babies. I couldn’t stop the tears from falling. Mina and Lynn came over with the babies and we all just hugged each other and cried. “Shawna knows better than to die on us, we would have to kick her a*s and she still owes me a fur coat she burned shooting fireworks at me when we were kids.” I said and we all laughed because I’m always bringing up that story. “My babies! I just heard what happened to Shawna did we hear anything yet. I was tending to the women and pups. I should have been there for you guys. I’m so sorry I have failed you girls. This is all my fault.” Momma Teri came running to us and hugged each of us crying.

It was comforting in a way because she was a mother figure to all of us. “We don’t know anything, the doc hasn’t come out yet.” I said as fresh tears came. “Antoni said they have the person that did this, have they been dealt with?” she said with anger in her eyes. “No, the b***h is in the room with Shadow apparently that is he’s mate.” I sneered. “What? That can’t be, Shadow’s mate died years ago.” Momma Teri said, frowning. “Well, apparently wolves can also come back from the dead. I guess that’s another thing yall need to add to the history books”, Lynn said with sarcasm. “I guess wolves have nine lives because he’s pretty sure about her being his mate.” I said as Tru started crying. It must be because she hears or smells her grandma. Teri must have been thinking the same thing too, because she reached for Tru, holding her close as tears fell, finally remembering the danger that her two grand pups were in earlier.

Lateri’s thoughts POV:

I can’t believe all this is happening and I feel helpless to stop it. I’m not allowed to shift into my wolf because I wasn’t an ordinary wolf. The moon goddess chose me as a guardian for all wolves. I had advanced powers much stronger than most Alpha’s. Years ago when the war came, it was a m******e. Wolves were dying all over the world. We were at war with other shifters and an ancient evil was the cause of the war. He wanted to rid the world of Shifters by tricking them into fighting each other. Many know the story of the moon goddess but very few know about her twin brother Silin. He and Celine were very close as children and did everything together until they became adults and Celine fell in love. She no longer looked to him as the only male in her life. He felt that she had completely abandoned him, and with that thought he became bitter and angry, then set out to destroy them both.

He started planning a way to separate the two love birds. He sat in motion the death of his sister’s mate. He kidnapped a girl from a town near by and made sure to leave a trail that led to Celine’s mate. Later that night her mate’s tribe was attacked and he was killed, once Celine saw the condition of her mate, it caused Celine so much pain and heartache, that she was unable to bare the lost, so she made the decision to create her very first wolf shifter, but it came with a price. She had to give him up in order for him to live. But she soon realized that her mate couldn’t bare losing her and was slowly dying and going feral. So, she created what wolves called their other half mate. She took a piece of her soul and placed it into a dying woman and made her a shifter as well, and that was the beginning of wolf shifters.

Once the other gods and goddesses found out, they too started to create different types of shifters. They all had laws that they haf follow, but her brother wasn’t one that followed the laws of the shifters. After Celine found out what he did to her mate, she attacked him and almost killed him, but he managed to get away and stayed hidden for years, planning a way to destroy all shifters which would weaken his sister enough to ultimately kill her, because they all carried a piece of her soul in them. So he started killing shifters and making it look like the work of different shifters, creating mistrust and misplaced anger until it exploded into a war of unimaginable proportions. Many shifters were dying, they were killing each other.

The war lasted for years before Celine decided to step in create a team of super shifters all from different shifter bloodlines. Theere was very few of us. She came to us and bestowed upon us gifts that transformed us into the very first warrior shifters. We were able to put an end to the war and save all shifters. We were pure white made of pure light. We were giant flying beasts with wings that could slice through anything. Our single horn could paralyze our enemy. No one could look upon us directly if they tried, their eyes would burn. Many have said that they saw one of us and we looked like Warrior unicorns with golden metal mask and golden body armor and golden wings that were able to shoot metal feathers at our enemies and a golden horn that left our enemies paralyzed.

I usually laugh at the stories heard about us. They were like all myths with some truths and the rest is someone’s wild imagination. We struck fear in all the shifters and caused them to withdraw and put an end to the war. The head of each council created new laws and guidelines in an effort to not have a return of what they called, the great winged God of light who could destroy them all. Once the war was over, the goddess told us we were never to shift into our beast again until she called upon us to bring peace. Only our mates could know the truth of who we truly were. With everything happening now, I have no idea what to do. Why hasn’t the moon goddess called upon me yet? Something very evil is happening and my precious grandbabies are in danger. I fear that they have some if not all of my powers. I thought after I had Kahi and he didn’t show any signs of being like me that I couldn’t pass on my powers, but my grand pups are stronger than any pups I have ever seen. And I am helpless to protect them. I held Tru tightly, whispering how sorry I was that I couldn’t protect her and promising that I would secretly try to replace out if I could replace a way to talk to the moon goddess. I must replace a way to protect them, even if it means going against the moon Goddess’ orders. I would gladly give my life to save theirs.

Back to Ji’lahni’s POV:

“Momma Teri, you and Papa Toni can take the girls to your house while we wait for the doctor. They need to get washed, fed and put down for the night. If you don’t have any of my milk left, I have some stored in the freezer at the house. Take as many as you need.” I said, looking at my babies. “Of course, we can do that. I have some of your milk left. We will take care of the pups for you. But please let me know the minute the doc comes out with an update.” She said with tears of worry in her eyes as she reached for Teri, Antoni rushed over to take one of the girls and he did the same thing she did, holding the girls close, overcome with emotions about what could have been. I thought he would squeeze them too tight, but the girls just cooed, giggled and passed gas, which had everyone laughing.

Makahi met them as they were heading to the exit. He reached for the girls, holding and kissing them lovingly while talking to his parents for a few minutes before letting them exit out of the doors. Walking over to me and wrapping his arms around me, I didn’t fight him because I just needed his strength, and I didn’t have the strength to fight him. Montego approached Lynn slowly and he moved as close as he could without touching her. He sighed when she didn’t try and move away from him. He gasped loudly when Lynn gently intertwined their fingers, pulling him close to her, allowing him to embrace her. She glanced at him but looked away quickly. Blaze wrapped his arm around Mina to comfort her and she accepted his comfort. We were strong because we needed to be when we had no one else but ourselves. Now we had men who we could be somewhat vulnerable with. Well, at least in times and moments like this.

Makahi’s POV:

Once we left Shadow’s room, me and Montego went into the next room. “What the f**k is going on around here? Who the hell comes back from the dead after years of being dead?” Montego asked, as if I knew the answer. “I don’t know but it’s her, she looks the same as she did years ago. I also remember when Shadow lost her. I thought for sure he would go rogue. When he came back, he wasn’t a rogue, but he was a different person, like he had no more feelings and didn’t care if he lived or died, until he met Shawna. I was starting to see a small glimpse of who he used to be. But now I guess it answers why he didn’t go rogue when he thought he lost her.” I said deep in thought. “But where has she been all these years? Something is just not adding up. There has to be more than one player. This is not just Zane alone. With the reappearance of Shadow’s mate, this is way bigger than we first thought. We might have to call in our friends from other shifter communities to help us out.” Montego said as we tried to go over what we, will need to do.

“First, we need to replace out everything Shadow’s mate knows, maybe she could shed some light on whoever is helping Zane.” I said. “Well good luck with that because our women are out for b***d, and I don’t think they are going to take no for an answer. Unless Shawna pulls through, which the longer the doc doesn’t say anything, the worse it may be. We need to prepare for the fall out. I can’t lose Lynn again and Shadow says he still feels the mates’ bond with her, so he isn’t going to let them kill her without a fight.” Montego said in thought. “I know, Ji’lahni will never forgive me if I stop her from hurting Shadow’s mate. Shadow also knows that she will have to pay for her crimes if she cooperates and tells us what we need to know, I will do what’s right and fair. I’m just hoping that Shawna pulls through. Maybe then we could talk them into letting her live. We just need to get this over with now.” I said. “That sounds good and all, but will it go that way?” Montego said as we walked out of the room. I saw my parents heading our way with the pups. “Hey mom, dad, are the women and pups safe and unharmed?” I asked as I reached for my girls to embrace them. I’m still angry and shocked by the fact that I also lost them.

The thought made me want to kill something. But I needed to focus and make sure I’m ready when another attack hits. They wont be able to lay a finger on them again. “Everyone is safe, but scared. Right now we have to get these little ones a bath and fed. I don’t think we’re going to sleep at all or let them out of our sight. I told Lahni to have you let me know when the doc gives you an update on Shawna.” My mother said as my dad hugged her as she cried. “Son, is it true that Shadow’s mate is somehow alive and responsible for all this?” My dad asked. “Yes, I don’t know how but she is Scarlett, and she is working for whomever Zane is partnered with. We are about to question her in a few minutes.” I said as I handed the girls back to them. “Well, keep me posted and I will also reach out to your uncle. I know he will want to come and bring his entire team of warriors to help protect the girls.” My dad said and I nodded, allowing them to exit.

Walking over to Ji’lahni wrapping her in my arms, Montego was still trying to take it slow with Lynn, so he just stood as close as he could. He was shocked when she grabbed his hand and allowed him to embrace her. Even Blaze wrapped his arms around Mina in an effort to comfort her. “So, we’re about to question Shadow’s mate. We will be in the conference room right down the hall if you need us.” I said as I let go of Ji’lahni to head to the conference room. “Oh, ok then let’s go, not sure why you’re telling us where to go when we can just follow you there, silly.” Ji’lahni said checking her utility belt. “No! absolutely not we are just going to ask her some questions and we need level heads and self-control.” I said shaking my head. “Oh, my bad, I feel like you misunderstood what I had said, and that’s on me. What I meant to say is, we are going with you to question the criminal, unless yall want us to become criminals for putting arrows through your nuts. I mean we could take it there, but why even go that route, in the first place, y’all should know better by now, but I’ll say this if yall think about telling or stopping us from going in there with yall, we can show you better, then we can tell you what will happen.” Ji’lahni said shrugging and shaking her head, chuckling at us, she walked in the direction of the conference room. “I swear sometimes I think yall be wanting us to cuss yall out.” Lynn said following Ji’lahni. “How about come on we don’t have all night, I want to be done before the Doc lets us in to see Shawna.” Mina said, walking off leaving us standing looking confused. Shaking my head as I watched the girls walk away. “Way to put your foot down, Alpha,” Montego said jokingly, coming to stand next to me. “We are going to have our hands full with our Luna and Beta female.” Montego said laughing. “Shut up Montego.” I said walking to the conference room. I mind linked Shadow telling him to meet us in the conference room with his mate. Please Goddess let us get through this without anyone pulling a gun or knife. Maybe we should have patted them down before we let them into the conference room.
