The Apple of My Eye -
Chapter 1708 Rex Would Do Anything For Black
Rex's servant sighed and said, "Master! The young master went out of the house when he saw what was on the news!"
"I told you to look out for him! What happened? Why didn't you stop him? Irresponsible!" Rex said in an angry voice while he scolded the servant.
The servant couldn't help but feel startled. He was at a loss and didn't know what to do. He thought for a while and rolled his eyes. "He was so determined to leave, master. I didn't have a chance to stop him. I'm sorry," the servant finally said.
"Alright. You may go now!" Rex replied with an impatient tone and waited for him to leave.
Meanwhile, the servant couldn't do anything else and left. It was only Rex who was left sitting in the living room.
He roved his eyes around the empty room and sighed. He seemed to get older with every second.
Yesterday, his men had tracked something down. Jason was definitely Ferry's man, and it was Ferry who had framed Holley. But Rex kept this information from Black, as he was hoping that Black would leave Holley. However, Rex didn't expect that the news would spread this much. And now, only God knew where Black was and what he was doing. Rex just hoped that everything would be fine.
Rex spent his whole day waiting for Black. He stayed in the living room and had nothing to eat. He even tried to call Black several times, but Black didn't answer his phone. Rex was quite freaked out. He had sent his subordinates to replace Black, but they had not found him yet.
Rex was as restless as a cat on a hot pan when suddenly, Black came home drunk.
From that night on, Black went drinking every night. Every time he came back home, he was intoxicated. He would only come back home because he was the Young Master of the Hu Family. Almost all of the clubs around already knew him. That was why they could send him home when he was already drunk.
"We're very sorry, Mr. Hu. We couldn't stop Young Master Hu from drinking," the boss of the Count Pub explained quickly when he saw Rex. He had just started a cooperation with the Hu Family and to displease Rex was the last thing he would do.
"No problem. Thank you," Rex answered coldly. Then he asked a servant to see off the boss of the Count Pub
When everyone finally left, Rex stared at Black, who was deliriously lying on the couch.
"You're a worthless man! You get drunk everyday just because of a woman!" Rex couldn't help but scold Black.
But Black didn't seem to care about Rex's words. He grinned and said, "Father, you always say that our Hu Family is quite powerful, yet I can't even keep a woman that I love by my side. Do you really think that we are that powerful?"
"You stupid! Why are you like that? You don't have manners! Is that the way you talk to your father?" Rex said in a furious tone. He pointed his finger at Black. If he didn't love Black so much, he would have already slapped him in the face.
"Ha-ha. What now? Are you going to punch me? What are you waiting for? Kill me! Then I wouldn't have to think about Holley anymore!" Black yelled, and then started crying. When Rex saw him crying, his anger instantly vanished. Pain was all that he felt.
"That's enough. Don't cry for a woman. Are you still a member of the Hu's?!" Rex blamed him again, but he felt more worried this time.
"It doesn't matter to you how I feel, as long as I don't disgrace our family. Right?" Black said as he raised his head to look at Rex. His eyes were disappointed and depressed. Even before Rex could even answer, Black went on and said, "Now the Media trumpets the news that I was dumped by Holley. It makes you feel embarrassed, doesn't it?" "It's better that you broke up! I don't like her for you. She's no good!" Rex replied with anger, while grasping his hands behind his back.
Black let out a grim laugh. All that he could think about was the pictures of Holley with her new boyfriend.
Rex didn't hear any answer from Black, so he turned and shot a glance at his son.
He could not bear to see the expression on Black's face. There was grief in Rex's voice. "It's getting late. You should go and get some rest now."
He had intended to say something to comfort Black, but then he realized that none of his words would ease his son's pain. So Rex gave up.
Black struggled to get up from the couch when he saw that Rex gave him a cold shoulder. Plus, he was so drunk that he couldn't move at all.
"Newman!" Rex called out toward the door when he saw that Black couldn't move.
Meanwhile, Newman was checking the car outside. When he heard that Rex was calling him, he ran into the house.
"My Master, what's the matter?" asked Newman.
Then he saw Black lying on the couch. Newman had worked for the Hu Family for a long time, and he had watched Black grow up. Now seeing Black behaving like this, he was quite worried. Rex sighed and said to Newman, "Help Black get up to go have some rest upstairs."
"Okay, master!" Newman didn't waste a second and helped Black to get upstairs.
In fact, it took Newman a great deal of effort to take Black upstairs. Then he and Alex cleaned up Black's room and fixed his bed. They immediately left after Black fell asleep.
Newman and Alex went downstairs and saw that Rex was still in the living room. They were both worried. They looked at each other and then said, "The young master had fallen asleep. He's okay now. You should get some sleep, master."
"Thank you. You may go now," Rex quickly replied but didn't leave the room.
He began to doubt his life choices when he saw how Black suffered. He had thought to give up, but he was sure that Holley was not good enough for his son. Even though Black was in a great deal of pain now, he would understand him someday.
Aside from that, Holley was still with Ferry. She would be such a bane if she should marry his son.
When Rex thought of that, he took out his phone to call Holley. He had made up his mind. He would do anything to remove that woman from his son's life.
Holley couldn't fall asleep. When she heard her phone ring, she wrapped herself tighter with the quilt as she was shaking. Sometimes it was like this. The more you didn't want something to happen, the more it would happen.
She was hoping that the quilt would cut off the sound of her phone ringing, but she could hear it even clearer.
In desperation, Holley uncovered herself, got up, and stared at her phone. A few moments later, she took the phone and checked. Then the expression on her face became terrified.
At first, she had thought that it was Ferry calling. But it turned out to be Rex.
