The Apple of My Eye
Chapter 1717 Forget The Time

It was the end of the school day, and Sheryl had arrived right on time. When the kids saw her, they ran out to greet her.

"Mommy, you came!" Shirley hugged Sheryl happily.

Following Shirley was Clark. On the way to the car, the two kids told Sheryl about something interesting that had happened in the kindergarten.

"Mommy, when can we see Daddy?" Shirley asked, looking at Sheryl after she had fastened the safety belt for herself.

The question stunned Sheryl to silence. She didn't know how to explain it to the kids. What she did instead was to smile at Shirley, and then she changed the topic. Being the observant and sensitive one, Clark saw the sorrow on his mother's face.

"Shirley, stop. Listen to Mommy." Seeing that Shirley was going to ask more questions, Clark grabbed Shirley's arm to stop her.

Pouting, Shirley didn't continue further.

Soon, they reached home.

Upon entering the house, Shirley smelled the delicious aroma of the food. She walked to Alex and smiling she asked, "Auntie Alex, what did you cook? It smells good." "I cooked your favorite, pork ribs."

"Wow...!"

Without washing their hands, the two kids went to their chairs. When they were about to sit, Sheryl stopped them.

Shaking her head, Sheryl pretended to be angry. "Wash your hands!"

"Fine!" the two kids replied in unison and nodded at Sheryl before washing their hands.

Afterwards, they ate dinner. While eating, Sheryl asked them about what had happened in the kindergarten. The dinner was an enjoyable one.

Time flew by so fast, and soon, it was time to sleep. Sheryl read the kids' bedtime stories, and they fell asleep in no time.

After kissing their foreheads and walking out of the children's room, Sheryl went to her bedroom. Meanwhile, the two kids opened their eyes as soon as she left.

"Clark, do you think Daddy and Mommy had a fight?" Shirley asked Clark in a sweet and soft voice.

Looking at Shirley next to him, Clark nodded. "It seems that Mommy and Daddy are going to separate. We have to figure out a solution."

"Clark, do you have a solution?" Shirley looked at Clark expectantly.

Despite not fully understanding the adult world yet, the two kids thought it was for the best if Sheryl and Charles could remain together. Witness to everything that happened between their parents, the two kids were nervous. After a short while, Clark said, "I have a plan..." Hearing that Clark had a plan, Shirley asked happily, "What's the plan, Clark?"

Not wanting to be heard, Clark whispered something to Shirley. Soon after, the two fell joyfully asleep. In their minds, the plan would surely work, and Sheryl and Charles would stay together again. On the balcony, Sheryl stood and looked up at the sky. Sad and lonely, she felt restless and always thought of Charles. But, she knew deep inside her heart that she had to move on. After drinking some water, Sheryl forced herself to go to sleep.

Sheryl had a nightmare which left her heartbroken and almost wanting to leave this world.

In her dream, she was chased by an evil dog. She ran and ran until she finally came to a dead end. She wanted to pass by the evil dog, but she couldn't, no matter how hard she had tried. Awakening from the nightmare, she found it was already dawn. She sat up and took a deep breath. Then she sighed and brushed her messy hair before walking out of the bedroom. "Good morning, Ms. Xia. Breakfast is ready, and the kids have started to wash up. Will you drive them to the kindergarten this morning, or shall I?" Alex said in one breath.

Sheryl smiled at Alex and replied gently, "Thanks, Alex. Please, drive the kids for me. I have an early meeting today. Okay!"

When the kids were ready, Sheryl had finished breakfast.

"Babies, I have something to do this morning and need to go now. Be well-behaved and go to school with Alex. Remember to listen to the teachers. Do you understand?" Sheryl looked at the kids with a big smile.

Running to Sheryl first, Clark hugged her leg tightly. "Mommy, drive safe. Don't forget to pick us up in the afternoon."

"Right!" Shirley echoed.

"Don't worry. I will. Be good kids." Touching Clark's head, Sheryl laughed as she left.

At Cloud Advertising Company, Sheryl was busy working again. Isla wanted to talk to her several times, but Sheryl kicked her out every time she attempted.

"Sher, would you like a cup of coffee?" Smiling brightly, Isla walked to Sheryl.

Helplessly, Sheryl sighed. "Ms. Zhao, I am very busy right now. Will you go away, please?"

Seeing Sheryl's reaction, Isla had no choice but to walk out of her office. Then she went to Phoebe.

Seeing Isla's expression, Phoebe laughed. "Ms. Zhao, please, don't disturb Ms. Xia. We have a lot of tasks to do at the moment. Ms. Xia doesn't have time to chat with you." "Phoebe, how could you? Do you mean to say that only Ms. Xia is busy, and I have nothing to do?" Pretending to be angry, Isla looked at Phoebe.

Not minding Isla, Phoebe sat in front of her table and smiled.

Knowing she couldn't persuade Phoebe or scare her, Isla stopped talking to her.

"Fine! All of you are so busy while I alone am free. I will go out and buy you some drinks." With that, Isla left Cloud Advertising Company at a leisurely walk.

All the employees heard that they would be getting something to drink, so they became happy.

Meanwhile, in the kindergarten, Clark and Shirley were busy. When it was almost time to go home, the two kids hid themselves and started to talk about their plan.

Soon, it was time to leave school. Clark and Shirley ran out of the kindergarten while the teachers were too busy to pay attention to them.

"Clark, are we really going to do this?" Shirley was worried and grabbed Clark's arm.

Looking at Shirley firmly, Clark said, "Shirley, don't worry. Mommy and Daddy love us so much. If they learn we are missing, they will come to replace us together. Then they will make up." When Shirley heard Clark's explanation, she nodded crazily in an instant.

Soon, they arrived in their neighborhood but didn't go home. They planned to go home secretly when Alex had gone out. In that case, nobody would know that they were safely at home. In Cloud Advertising Company

"Ms. Xia, didn't you say that you will be picking up the two kids?" Turning around to look at the inner office, Phoebe was surprised to still see Sheryl sitting. She rushed in to remind her of the time. "What time is it?" Raising her head suddenly, Sheryl looked at Phoebe.

"Five minutes later than your usual time." Looking at Sheryl, Phoebe felt awkward.

"Damn! How can I have forgotten the time?" Feeling guilty, Sheryl cursed herself. She hurriedly stood up while fixing her things and prepared to leave.
