Chapter 25

The Betrayed Luna-

Natalie grunts, her eyes fluttering open. The sun had seeped into the bedroom by now. She groaned, dragging her palm over her face. She could barely keep her eyes open without feeling the immense need to slam her head against a wall. She blinked again, sitting up on the bed. She groaned loudly, holding her head. It felt like her head was being slammed against a door repeatedly with no mercy. Her throat was as dry as the Sahara desert. She opened her eyes and finally looked around the room. Her eyebrows creased with confusion.

This isn’t her room. This isn’t her mediocre room. Instead this…

Her eyes widened dramatically. She’s cleaned. this room over and over again, every shape of the room is now ingrained in her head. She gasped, the splitting headache threatened to crack her skull open. Her heartbeat increased dramatically immediately after she was able to register the bedroom.

Thorne’s bedroom.

What the f**k is she doing in his bedroom? Did she die and go to hell because there’s no reason in the world as to why she would be here, lying down in his room?

“Oh, goddess! This has to be a joke. I have to still be sleeping.” She whispered to herself before giving her arm a good pinch to wake herself up. It’s useless. She yelped in pain, looking down at her fast–growing red arm.

So she’s not asleep and she’s truly in Thorne’s room? Well, goodbye world. This is the end of her life. Why would she ever try to even… The train of thought comes to an end the moment she looks beside her. Her flailing arms drop to the bed. Beside her on the bedside stool were some painkiller pills and a cup of water which was covered with a lid.

Natalie choked and just then does the splitting headache return like it never disappeared with how frantic she was. She hissed loudly in pain, eyes squeezed shut like it would suppress the pain. It doesn’t.

Natalie is quick to snatch the tablet off the table, pooling two of the pills into her mouth and downs it with the water provided. Eyes closed, she leaned back against the bed rest, trying to regulate her heartbeat. Exactly a second later, her eyes flew open, her face drained of color as she stared into nothingness.

“What the F**K!” The memories of the night before come crashing into her head. She

grabbed a pillow from beside her, clasping it against her face, and screamed with all of her might. She remembers grabbing his shirt, tiptoeing, and pressing her l*ps against his. She freaking k*ssed him!

“Arghhh!” She screamed again, heaving heavily like she’d just run ten miles with no stop for water. She lets the pillow fall to the bed her face red like she’s been slapped roughly all over. How did she let herself get so wasted that she k*ssed him? Kissed Thorne? Does she have a death wish? She groaned in embarrassment, hands clasped against her head, almost tugging at her hair till the strands pulled off her scalp. She looks to her side and just then does she realizes the rumpled part of the bedsheet. It meant that he had slept there, beside her. This time, not only does her face flare up in red but her next as well.

She hurried out of bed, dropping the cup to the side of the bed, and quickly made the bed like she used to, whilst trying to keep the image of him tucking her into bed.

Natalie hurried out of his room, rushing to make it to hers swiftly with no one seeing her. She doesn’t get far though, honestly, she doesn’t even get anywhere because the minute she steps out of his room, she meets two other maids like herself. They paused in their steps, lowering their head instinctively, thinking it was Thorne who stepped out of his room. They’re wrong though. They look up and their eyes widen on seeing her coming out of his room looking like a train wreck.

Natalie smiles nervously at them, “I.. um.. I came to.. clean.” She rushed out although she wasn’t asked and it wasn’t needed. She notices the two girls‘ eyes stuck on her b*dy and she swallows hard, hoping she doesn’t have some weird thing on her skin. She looks down at herself and just then does she realizes.

She doesn’t have anything weird on her skin. Instead, she has Thorne’s clothes on her b*dy. She freezes immediately when she notices.

“You-” one of them pointed at the clothes and she cleared her throat. “I… um..” she struggled to get something out.

“It’s okay.” One of them pipes up, grabs the other that was pointing at her and walks off like they didn’t just see Natalie stepping out of Thorne’s room with his shirt on.

She’s now had her bath and it doesn’t feel like death is hovering over her head anymore nor does she feel like the walking dead. She stood by the door, her palms clammy with sweat. She’s nervous as hell, praying to the goddess she doesn’t stumble on Alpha Thorne, at least not for today. She stepped out of the room and walked down the hallway quickly, she passed by two more maids and stiffened on seeing the look they gave her.

News spread fast and it looks like she’s breaking news.

“F**king hell.” She mutters under her breath, pausing for a second to breathe more, she shuts her eyes close, letting the tense nerve loosen when she feels it again. The energy zapping in her fingertips, harsh and painful. The pain didn’t hurt though, she liked it. It was more like it was keeping her grounded. ‘All she has to do is press more.. her finger digs deep into her palm.

“Tug it a little more. Her finger pricks her skin.

‘Dig deeper.’ She pressed more and…

“What are you doing standing here, alone?” A familiar voice jerks her from her thoughts. She hissed in pain, face scrunched tightly, cradling her hand in the other, bringing it up to her chest.

The man’s eyes widen, his eyes drop to her hand. “Did you hurt yourself? Do you need the…”

“No, I’m fine.” She’s quick to cut him off, bowing slightly in respect. “Please excuse me.” She tells him and he nods, shifting sideways so she can pass. Natalie hurried in her step, the pain from her palm still stinging her, oblivious to the eyes watching her from behind. She made up her mind to go to the one place she believed she could get answers. Madam Chrissy.

“He’s back,” Nathan says, taking a seat on the chair, he looks at Thorne seriously and Thorne could deduce from this, he didn’t have good news.

“Call him in.” He replied, leaning against the chair, jaw locked. The door opens up slightly and soon the man stepped in. He looked absolutely horrible, with bruises plastered all over his face. He looked skinnier than ever, his hair short and sticking up different direction. In all, he looked horrible.

“What the hell happened?” Thorne asked frantically.

The man sighed, shaking his head tiredly. He opens his mouth to speak but is cut off by the loud knocking on the door. Nathan hissed out annoyingly, standing up to see who it was. He’s faced with one of the guards whose face tells a different story. He stepped aside, allowing the man into the office. The guard looks at Thorne, he bows, his chest heaving.

“What is..” Thorne doesn’t get to complete his words.

at you think.

Thorne stood by a tree, a cigarette lit in between his fingers, his face scrunched into a distasteful scowl.

“Anyone knows the wolf?” He asks, taking a puff of the cigarette, he watches as the guards begin to dig a grave for the wolf. Nathan shook his head. “None. Looks like wolf passing by, it’s not of the kingdom.” Nathan replied.

was a lone

Thorne cocks an eyebrow up. “A lone wolf attacked so ruthlessly, right outside the border? Its guts were out in the open, throat slit, skin burnt in such a disgusting manner. That wasn’t just a casual kill, it’s intentional.” He tells Nathan who nods.

“Have the incident buried. I don’t want any of the pack members speaking of this. Search the area properly and report whatever you think is amiss. This is no casual kill. Somethings up and I’ve missed it.” He tells Nathan who nods.

“Right away.”

Thorne turned and began to walk away towards the main pack house. His mind runs back to the wolf whose life had just been cut off. He wondered if the wolf had ambitions, plans, duties. Well, it’s been cut short now.

Few steps to reach the pack house, he’s accompanied by someone he’d rather acknowledge from a distance. Jeffery had a smirk on his l*ps, an eyebrow cocked up, and hands sl*pped into his brown leather jacket.

“I heard a wolf was killed brutally down there. I’m guessing that’s true considering you look solemn.” He says. Thorne looks at him, eyebrow quirked up.

“What’s it to you?”

“This is my pack too, you know. Father didn’t just give you all of this because…” Thorne stops in his steps, scoffing lightly, his eyebrows raised menacingly. “Father gave me? You’re getting it all wrong, little brother. This! I paid my dues and got it all because I deserved it, because it has always and will always be mine.” He spat out.

Jeffery’s smirk falters at the words, he swallows. “Potato, potahtoh. All the same.” He replied with a tight smile on his face.

“Go f**k one of your whores or do something useless like you’ve always done but leave me

alone.” He barks out, continuing his walk.

“One of my whores? Be useless? I can’t do shit with your beta constantly breathing down my n*eck. Did you think I wouldn’t notice you’ve sent your watchdog to keep an eye on me?” Jeffery grits out. They walk into the pack house.

“I hoped you’d noticed after all you’re a half–Lycan. I also hoped it’s enough to drive you away and make you leave.”

Not in your dreams will I be leaving here. I am here to stay, after all, it’s my pack just as much. Tell Nathan to get off my back. It’s nerving having his f**king eyes in everything I do.” Jeffery grits out almost angrily. Throne bites back an amused smile threatening to leave his l*ps, he nods, taking a turn towards his office, Jeffery still hot on his heels.

Thorne stops at the door, hand on the doorknob leading into the office, he looks at Jeffrey who has also stopped beside him. “Nathan isn’t leaving you anytime soon, so you might as well get used to him breathing down your n*eck. I don’t trust you, therefore, nob*dy trusts you around here.” He says and pulls the door open, shutting it immediately too, letting whatever Jeffrey had to say die down.

Jeffery stood outside the door, jaw locked with anger bubbling inside of him. He turns away from the now–shut door, hands folded into a tight fist. He needs to do something.

Natalie opened her eyes, sweat beads formed around her forehead, her b*dy drenched with her own sweat. She takes a deep breath, eyes darting around frantically until she remembers where she was. Madam Chrissy’s home.

She cleared her throat and looked ahead, Madam Chrissy sat on a chair, eyes stuck on Natalie. Normally, it would’ve creeped her out but after her numerous sessions with the woman, she’s gotten used to it.

“How do you feel?” She asks calmly. Natalie scoffed.

“I feel.. I feel. tired.” She settles on, unable to come up with something reasonable. How does she say she feels so many things at once? Madam Chrissy hummed, standing up, her green dress seemed to glimmer to Natalie.

“You’re bound to feel tired after the session. I won’t push your wolf further, it’s been rather tough for her. Tell me though, Natalie.” She paused to look at Natalie.

“Your parents. Are they pure wolves?” She asked cautiously. Natalie’s eyebrows furrow in

confusion. “Yes.” She drags out, unable to understand what the woman.

“Full–blooded wolves? They weren’t turned?” She asks and Natalie shakes her head. None of her parents were turned wolves as far as she knew. She’s heard tales from her grandmother and not once did they include any of her parents being aw turned wolf.

“Okay,” Chrissy says but doesn’t look convinced, that irked Natalie more than anything. She sat up, feeling the wet sticky clothe stick to her skin. How long has she been In here?

“I- is something wrong?” Natalie asks and the woman shakes her head, not looking at her again.

“You can leave. Oh and ask Katharine for a top of clothe. This one you have one is wrecked. Also, ask Aya to get me a cup of coffee. I’ll be in here for a while.” She says, grabbing her glasses and moving to the chair.

Natalie stood up, her legs felt oddly weak. She bowed to the woman “I’d like to apologize for yesterday. I- I can’t remember half of the thing I did and I know I must have been a huge bother. I’m terribly sorry.” She says meekly, bottom l*p caught between her teeth. Her apology caught Chrissy off guard. A smile makes its way to her l*ps.

“It was your first time drinking. You’ll have more chances in the future to figure out your limit. Don’t worry.” she replied. Natalie nodded and hurried out of the room. She walks towards the little living room where she sees Katherine and Aya working. Natalie cleared her throat and the two ladies looked

  1. up.

“Madam Chrissy would like a cup of coffee, Aya.” She tells the girl. Aya nods, getting up awkwardly before walking away to the small kitchen too.

“Please tell me you remember what happened last night because I blacked out. Myself and Aya have been on our tippy toes with Madam Chrissy. She’s been giving us the stank eye ever since.” Katherine whispered the last part, grumbling frustratedly. Normally, Natalie would have found it cute but not now, when she was also nursing her problem too.

“Can you lend me a top? I think I might have..” she trailed off, gesturing at her b*dy. Katherine nods, quickly getting up, and leads Natalie towards the room she shared with Aya.

Natalie stood in the middle of the room awkwardly as Katherine zipped a bag open and took out some clothes, stretching them to see which would fit best. Natalie doesn’t hear her rambling over her thoughts. Her mind was currently plagued by the memories of the previous night. Her l*ps against Thorne’s.

“Earth to Natalie!” Katherine says. Natalie blinked twice, a little shocked at seeing Katherine standing so close to her with a black top in her hands.

“What’s gotten you so lost in thought? Do you think..” She doesn’t get to complete her words as she’s cut off.

“I k*ssed Alpha Thorne last night.” Natalie blurts out.

Katherine freezes, the top falling from her hands, her eyes slowly widening as the words settle in her head. Her face ran pale, jaw dropped.

“WHAT?” She screamed. Natalie clasped her hand over Katherine’s mouth. “What the f**k Katherine? Are you trying to get me killed here?” She hissed out.

Katherine jerks her hand off, ignoring the panicked words. “What the f**k, Natalie? What the actual f**k? Are you sure you didn’t hallucinate or maybe it was a dream? What do you mean you k*ssed him? How can you k*ss him? Oh, my goddess! What the f**k?” She rambled on uncontrollably.

Natalie drags her hand over her face, panic settling in her bones with Katherine’s inability to stop speaking for a damn second. “Shut the hell up! I’m telling just you, not the entire pack. Please shut up.” She hissed out. This time, Katherine got it. She nods, taking a deep breath.

“Explain.” She demands, arms wrapped against her chest.

Natalie furrows her eyebrows, confused. “Explain what? What’s there to explain?” She gritted out, now regretting her inability to keep her mouth shut.

“Oh, I don’t know. Maybe, how the hell you ended up k*ssing the most powerful man in the world!” Katherine hissed out just as a hard knock jolts through the door.

“Katherine! Madam Chrissy needs us both.” Aya yells from the other side.

Katherine glares at Natalie, arms still crossed against her chest. “Coming.” She yelled back, bending to pick the top and throws it at Natalie.

Natalie glares back at her as she quickly pulls off her sweat–stained top and wears one of Katherine’s. “You are not off this conversation, Natalie.” Katherine mouths and Natalie rolls her eyes.

“F**k off.” She mouths back as Katherine opens the door, allowing the two of them out of the room. Aya stood there, eyeing the two of them weirdly. “Are you two good?” She asked

and they both nodded stiffly. Aya nodded back, she glanced at Natalie.

“A guard is waiting for you outside.” She tells Natalie who immediately knew that was her cue to leave. She wondered though, why a guard was waiting for her outside.
