"Mr. Salter?"
At the mention of the last name, Brittany's heart pounded wildly. The head of Grandeur Capital shared the same surname with Zakky?
After making the announcement, William returned to his office and the rest of the office started murmuring.
"I heard this Mr. Salter is a real tough guy. Even his own uncle doesn't get any slack from him. He made some swift decisions and in just a few months, he's already the big boss!" When Sydney heard this, she crossed her arms and said, "Of course, my cousin is not comparable to ordinary people!"
"What?"
"Sydney, Mr. Salter is your cousin?"
The office was in uproar. Everyone turned to look at Sydney, as if they'd just heard some juicy gossip!
Sydney was pleased with everyone's reaction and hooked one corner of her red lips up, "Yes, we're family."
This was only half true. Sydney's aunt married into the Salter family's side branch and was particularly close to the old lady of the Salter family. So, calling him cousin wasn't entirely inappropriate. Everyone started bombarding Sydney with questions about Isaac.
Sydney was always wary of this cousin of hers and didn't dare to reveal too much. She just mentioned some common facts and won over a crowd of flatterers.
Brittany listened in. He was very handsome but had a bad temper and didn't really like interacting with strangers. He studied abroad and got dual master's degrees from prestigious universities. Hearing this, Brittany knew that this person could not possibly be Isaac.
Zakky himself said that he only graduated from college and was unemployed when they first met. If he had an overseas studying background, he wouldn't have had such a hard time replaceing a job! Sydney thought Brittany would flatter her but to her surprise, Brittany just packed up her things and slowly left.
"Is Brittany still not giving up on Mr. Tueley's project?"
"Who does she think she is?"
"I heard the plagiarism scandal was a big deal back then. How does Brittany still have the nerve to stay in this industry?"
Sydney stepped out of the office and called Patrina, "Patty, have you handled things with Mr. Tueley?"
"Don't worry, my dad has already made a call. Unless Mr. Tueley wants to offend the Dustin family, he won't be using Brittany's design."
Thinking of this, a mocking smile flashed across Patrina's eyes, "By the way, I heard there were some changes at Grandeur Capital, it didn't affect you, did it?"
Patrina and Sydney have a close relationship, not just because of friendship, but also interests!
"My cousin has taken the position of leader, what influence do I have?" Sydney chuckled, "I'll introduce you two someday."
"Okay."
After hanging up, Patrina handed her design to Robert, "Dad, check out my design."
Since Brittany's design was taken away, she had to do it herself.
Robert glanced at the design, a hint of disappointment in his eyes. Compared to Brittany's brilliance, Patrina's design was mediocre, even a little shabby! Robert, always doting on his daughter, hesitated, "I remember the design director gave me a nice design before, let's use that one." Although he tried to phrase it gently, the intended message was clear: your design, it's no good!
That design was actually Brittany's. Patrina clenched her fists tightly, but didn't show it. She bit her lip and said with a little force, "I got it."
Back in her office, Patrina threw the files onto her desk. Was her design really that bad?
The secretary outside her office quietly shook her head. Just because Brittany was gone, did she really think she could dominate the design department? How naive!
...
Brittany waited outside the Tueley Corporation building until it got dark.
Wesley appeared, and Brittany quickly approached him, "Mr. Tueley, can we talk?"
"Brittany?" Wesley recognized her, "You still want me to use your design?"
Brittany had been waiting for a long time, her face slightly pale, "Yes, Mr. Tueley, I know the Dustin family is putting pressure on you, but I hope you can give me a chance."
She had to have some achievements to defeat the Dustin family. Otherwise, it was all just a pipe dream!
She checked Wesley, he only looked at benefits, as long as he was given enough benefits, he would be desperate! Wesley obviously didn't expect Brittany to come knocking again. He thought for a while and then looked at Brittany. She was beautiful. And there were also some utility values.
"Alright, I have a collaboration tonight and I need an assistant. If you help me succeed, I might consider using your design. How about it?"
Interest flickered in Wesley's eyes.
Brittany knew what he was thinking, but she didn't have any other options, "Okay."
Wesley liked decisive women. He got into the car with Brittany and handed her a piece of paper, "These are the general managers attending tonight's dinner. Note down the important points, no mistakes allowed." Brittany took the paper and glanced at it, "Got it."
Wesley instructed the driver to drive to the restaurant.
When they arrived at the restaurant, Wesley pointed at Brittany's shirt, "Unbutton a couple of buttons."
Brittany blushed slightly. She had always been with the Dustin family and rarely attended such events. She was wearing a black and white suit, and if she unbuttoned her shirt, she risked a wardrobe malfunction. Wesley raised an eyebrow, "Don't want to?"
Brittany clenched her teeth, reached out, and unbuttoned one, "Two would be too much, one is enough."
Wesley didn't say anything and got out of the car.
Brittany followed him into the restaurant. There were already quite a few people waiting in the private room. "Mr. Tueley has arrived."
"Mr. Tueley got a new assistant? She's a looker!"
Brittany walked in, immediately sensing some hostile stares.
"My assistant, Brittany."
Wesley sat down, with Brittany by his side.
This was a dinner party where Wesley, citing health reasons, refused to drink. Brittany, as his assistant, became the center of attention.
The general managers were all lovers of a good show: "Brittany, since Mr. Tueley can't drink, you're up!"
Brittany picked up her glass, toasting round after round. She had a pretty decent tolerance, managing to keep her cool even after a round of drinking, even managing to chat about workplace matters with the senior executives. Just because she didn't do business dinners didn't mean she was clueless.
Wesley was fiddling with a ring on his pinky, his gaze deep as he looked at Brittany -
She was willing to take risks. She was insightful. Looks like she was an unavoidable partner.
After a few rounds, even with her good tolerance, Brittany couldn't withstand the constant attack of alcohol. Someone in a blur wrapped an arm around her waist: "Brittany, you're so pretty, why are you still an assistant? How about-"
Brittany felt dizzy, but she kept her wits about her, quickly grabbing the man's hand, "Johnny, we're just having drinks, there are things you really can't say."
Johnny was taken aback by her response, wanting to blow his top.
"I remember Johnny is already married, your wife treats you so well, you really can't disappoint her!"
Johnny, expressionless, retracted his hand: "Mr. Tueley, your assistant is really good, she knows a lot!"
Wesley glanced at Brittany: "What are you doing, apologize to Johnny."
Brittany knew that he was doing this on purpose, but had no choice but to comply, raising her glass, "Johnny, I'm sorry."
Johnny, not appeased, directly picked up a bottle of hard liquor and put it in front of Brittany: "If you want me to sign the contract, finish this bottle." This hard liquor, most people would replace hard to stomach.
Besides, Brittany had already drunk a lot. She looked at Wesley, the man's gaze was deep, as if he was watching a great show!
Brittany bit her lip, the next second, she reached out, picked up the bottle, "Johnny, if I drink this, you'll sign the contract?" "Yes!"
Brittany raised her head, the hard liquor like a fiery dragon pouring down her throat, instantly igniting her sanity ignited.
Wesley apparently didn't expect Brittany to be so determined, just about to speak. His phone rang, he picked it up, his expression slightly changing. "Zac, what's up?"
