Chapter 455
Everyone who knew William was aware that he was head over heels for someone.
Despite constant questioning from his friends, William never revealed who this person was.
William was a teetotaler. While holding a glass of orange juice, he smiled and said, "Today is my birthday. Let's shoot the breeze about something else."
His buddies exchanged glances, understanding he wouldn't let the cat out of the bag.
During William's recovery period, he was practically a hermit, never leaving his house.
His pals delicately avoided the topic of his car accident and instead started chewing the fat about recent news.
"William, you might not be in the loop, but Brittany from our school is now hitting the big time.
"Absolutely. Her studio has been breaking sales records left and right despite being established less than a year ago. That's no small feat."
1 heard that Brittany tied the knot with Mr. Salter"
"I didn't see that one coming Brittany is now Mrs. Salter"
They started to gossip, and William's grip tightened around his juice glass.
Just then, the door to the private room swung open.
William seemed to sense something. He looked up to see Brittany coming through the door
Brittany was dressed in a maternity dress. Besides her belly, it was hard to tell she was pregnant.
She wore a light blue coat and a scarf around her neck, looking quite elegant.
She held a cake and a small gift box in her hands.
1
Along with her was the ever flamboyant Hannah Chester, who entered the room, greeted friends, and was immediately pulled aside for drinks. Brittany hesitated when she saw William
After a moment, she approached him and said, "William
William smiled at her. His eyes landed on her protruding belly, "Are you nearing your due date?"
"Yes, it's close."
Brittany handed him the cake, "I baked this myself. It's your favorite chocolate"
William took the cake, thanking her.
Brittany let out a sigh of relief after seeing that he did not decline the cake and handed him the gift box, "Happy Birthday"
William opened the box to replace a black crystal bracelet inside.
"It's a charm I got from a fortune-teller friend. I hope it keeps you safe"
Brittany couldn't bear to look at his legs. Every time she thought of the accident, she felt so much guilt that she would tremble.
William took out the bracelet, inspecting it closely. His eyes were filled with a smile, "Thank you."
Carla Salter had been watching William She saw Brittany chatting and laughing with him.
She immediately rose to her
with William?"
Carla never imagined that Br
et, stormed over to William, snatched the bracelet, and scolded, "Brittany, you're married now. Why are you so chummy
her rival in love, would also be her cousin's wife!
Brittany wasn't expecting to see Carla there, but considering Carla's crush on William, it wasn't really a surprise.
She bit her lip gently, "You've got it all wrong. I was just.."
"Don't tell me you're oblivious to William's feelings for you!" Carla sneered, crossing her arms, "Brittany, you're married to my cousin. Stop messing around with William." Brittany didn't want to argue with Carla. She turned to William and said, "It's getting late. I should go."
Carla turned pale
William grabbed Brittany's hand, maneuvering his wheelchair, "Let me see you out."
"Alright."
They left the room one after another. Carla wanted to follow them but was stopped by William's friends, "Carla, you just said the one William is in love with is Brittany?" Carla looked grim, "You guys didn't know?"
"We were clueless!" His friends exchanged glances, "William always kept quiet about it. How could we possibly know?"
