Chapter 474
Isaac's expression shifted slightly After a moment, he said. "Okay"
He seemed to be making some kind of compromise
Brittany followed Isaac out of the hospital and got into the car Isaac drove to the most high end cemetery in Imperial City
On the eve of the New Year, the cemetery was bustling with people visiting their loved ones
The black car came to a stop Brittany got out of the passenger seat and went to a nearby shop to buy a bunch of flowers and some other stuff.
"Let me help you" Isaac offered
Brittany avoided him, "Just tell me where it is. I want to go by myself"
Isaac swallowed. He knew she wasn't one to change her mind easily.
I go with you, but I'll keep my distance"
Brittany didn't respond. She just walked straight into the cemetery
Isaac had splurged on the best spot for his son's burial, Brittany laid the flowers down and took out some snacks from her bag, placing them in front of the grave The shopkeeper had said that kids loved those snacks.
The tombstone was simple-just a line of words, no photo. Brittany's eyes welled up with tears. She squatted down, tears streaming down her face.
Isaac stood a little distance away, looking at her frail silhouette with a cold glint in his eyes.
The cold wind was biting Brittany was freezing, her face fushed from the cold
Isaac checked the time Two hours had passed.
He walked over and picked up Brittany, "It's getting late. We can come back another time."
Brittany bit into his neck weakly, her voice filled with anger, Isaac, why couldn't it have been you who died?"
What had her Kyle done wrong?
He hadn't even had the chance to experience the world before he was taken away, but they were still alive. They were the culprits!
Isaac's eyes were filled with hidden emotions. He carried her out of the cemetery, step by step
He murmured, "Even if I were to die, I'd take you with me."
Brittany pushed him away climbed into the car on her own, and buckled her seat belt, I have no intention of dying with you."
Isaac didn't respond. He got into the car and drove off.
After visiting the cemetery, Brittany's mood had taken a turn for the worse. Isaac took her to a nearby mall. Despite the New Year's atmosphere, Brittany didn't cheer up. In fact, she felt even more upset. A nearby baby store was having a sale.
Little clothes, bottles, toys...
Brittany saw all of those things. She practically scrambled into the car, not daring to look back. She urged Isaac to drive back to the hospital.
Back at the hospital, Brittany laid in bed, feeling as if all her senses had disappeared. She lifted her hand weakly to cover her eyes, feeling cold all over
Isaac stayed at the hospital that night.
He didn't get into bed but slept on the couch.
Brittany woke up in the middle of the night to see the almost six-foot-tall man curled up on the couch, looking rather pathetic.
The silver moonlight spilled onto the floor. Brittany, gathering some strength, got out of bed and went into the bathroom
She always dreamed of Kyle That night, she dreamed of the little boy curled up in a corner, his eyes red as if accusing her of not protecting him well enough. Brittany scooped up a handful of water, trying to wash the sweat off her face.
A knock came from outside the door
"Brittany, are you in the bathroom?"
Isaac had sharp hearing and was a light sleeper Hearing Brittany get up, he was worried and came to check on her.
Brittany dried her hands, opened the door, and said, "Mr. Salter, am I not even allowed to go to the bathroom now?"
Isaac was taken aback, his thin lips slightly parted
"Bri, that's not what I meant..."
He was just worried that something might happen to Brittany
Brittany walked past him, but isaac grabbed her wrist tightly. His voice was low and somewhat hoarse.
"We can still have children."
He struggled to say, "TII bring Kyle back to you."
