Chapter 840

The doctor emerged from the operation room

Isaac instinctively rose to his feet, his gaze sweeping the vicinity with an icy sharpne

"Mr. Salter, no need to worry. Grace has pulled through

Isaac exhaled a sigh of relief, yet the doctor's solemn expression tugged his anxieties back into place. Is there another problem?"

"Grace is currently out of immediate danger, but.." The doctor sighed deeply. "We conducted a full-body scan and found that Grace is suffering from severe exhaustion, with her kidneys particularly affected. Unless we replace a suitable kidney donor, her condition could worsen.

Kidneys!

Brittany's fist clenched reflexively. It was kidney failure that had taken her grandmother

Now, Grace was facing the same battle.

"Alright, I understand."

Isaac's voice was hoarse as he discussed options with the doctor and arranged for Grace's admission.

Grace hadn't yet come to and was moved into the ICU.

Upon hearing of the kidney issue and the need for a family match, Manuel immediately found excuses, claiming exhaustion, and left the hospital.

Noel watched his retreating figure and spat bitterly, "Some son he is, huh? Asked him for a match, and off he sprints!"

Isaac massaged his temples, reaching out to Nathan to start a nationwide search for a matching kidney.

Both Isaac and Noel took compatibility tests that very night.

Brittany did as well

She had wanted Daniel to be tested too.

But isaac stopped her, 'Daniel's too young, let's not involve him just yet."

They were adults, donating a kidney wouldn't greatly impact their health. However, Daniel was still a child, and any negative effects were too great a risk to take lightly. Unless absolutely necessary, Isaac wouldn't consider using Daniel's kidneys.

Wesley received the news and brought his whole family to get tested the next day, and Derek showed up as well.

Unfortunately, none were suitable matches.

Even Isaac's own kidneys weren't an ideal fit.

The highest compatibility was with Brittany, but still nowhere near the standard required for transplant.

Manuel had refused to be tested.

Marcel, with his poor health, was also unable to be tested.

Grace awoke two days later.

She was well aware of her own condition but hadn't expected it to deteriorate so suddenly. Isaac hadn't slept in forty-eight hours, and Grace's heart ached for him.

"Zac, I'm sorry to have worried you."

Isaac sat by the bed, his expression steady as ever. "Grandma, you need to focus on your recovery. Leave everything else to me."

Grace shook her head. "I'm well aware of my condition, Zac. If there's a next time, please... don't save me again."

Resuscitation, to some extent, was an incredibly painful ordeal.

Isaac's face turned pale, his response instinctive. "Don't worry, there won't be a next time."

"I know about my kidneys." Grace's voice was hoarse. "I've been following treatments for years, and the doctors already told me that without a transplant, my chances are slim." "Why didn't you tell me sooner?"

If he had known, they might have already proceeded with the surgery.

Grace had long since come to terms with her mortality. "I'm old, Zac. I don't want to spend my remaining days in a hospital. I want to live properly."

Isaac's lips were a tight line, "Rest assured, I will replace a compatible kidney. Once the surgery is done, you can go wherever you wish."

The conversation took its toll, and Grace quickly succumbed to sleep.

Isaac stepped out of the room to replace Nathan approaching, "Mr. Salter, we just got the news. We've found a match."

"Where?"

"It's Ms. Joie."
