The Cambion's Hoard -
Chapter 57-Rose
Leaving the hospital was both a relief and painful. I hated leaving Biggs alone. I know his soul was with me but his body was left there. I talked the nurses into letting me move my bed so I could sleep by him. Henson, Thatcher, and Patti promised that he wouldn’t be alone. Henson had stayed at the hospital and Thatcher was bringing me home.
I was looking out the window when Thatcher stroked my arm. “Hey, Henson will be there with him all day. Patti said she’ll stay tonight. I’ll go over in the morning and the three of us will rotate. He’s going to be taken care of.”
Shifting in my seat to face him was easier than turning to my head. My eye was still clouded causing issues with my vision and equilibrium. “I know. I am happy to be getting out of there only because I miss you guys.”
Thatch grabbed my hand, bringing it to his lips kissing it softly. “I’m sorry we weren’t there, we wanted to get the house fixed up.”
“Mom, Sly and Patti came over, so I wasn’t by myself all the time. It was only hard when it was Biggs and me. I was left to ponder my thoughts. Not fun.” I couldn’t get what Patti had said about my transformation out of my head. How was it going to affect my relationship with my men?
Thatcher pulled into the church’s lot. He parked next to the house and turned the car off.
“Rose.”
I looked up from my lap. Thatcher’s gaze was soft. “We are here for you. Henson and I have talked with Sly and Linus in depth about succubi and their abilities. You are not isolated in this situation. I now when Biggs is home, he’ll be with you too. We love you.”
Leaning forward I reached for him. Thatch clasped my face and kissed me. “Thank you.”
He pressed his forehead to mine. “Let’s go inside so you can see Wallace. He’s missed you too.”
I smiled. “Oh yes! You’ve been taking good care of him?”
I unbuckled and got out of the car. Seeing the little house gremlin would help me calm down.
“He’s been spoiled. New bed, fancy cat tower, lots of fuzzy socks and waffles. He fucking loves his waffles.” He wrapped his arm around my waist.
“Who can blame him? Waffles are delicious.” I bobbed happily at the thought of making up some for him in the morning.
I stopped as we walked up the front walk. The house looked off. It was brighter, like someone had power washed it. The garage door was gone and the windows were rearranged. The shingles even looked cleaner.
Thatcher tugged my hand. “The inside is different too.”
He opened the front door and ushered me in. The house was warmer and more inviting than it had been when I first moved in. The wood paneling was gone and replaced with a rich green paint. The baseboards and crown molding were a deep cherry wood. From the front door I could see that the dinning room had been closed off.
“So, the morning after Biggs reaction we came back to the house with Patti. Did you know house gremlins can rearrange the home they live in?” I nodded my head. “I didn’t. So we talked about how we could change the house. Patti wanted us to get all of the negative energy associated with what happened out.”
“You had to sweet talk Wallace in a transdimensional shift?” My smile pulled at the stitches.
“We gave him his own space. No one is allowed in. It was the old indoor pool room. I mean there are windows but no doors. That is his space.” Thatcher grinned.
“Thank you.” They had considered that Wallace was a part of our family and deserved a space of his own.
“Thank you for teaching us not to be assholes to him.”
“Why don’t you show me around? I’m excited to see what has changed.”
Thatcher took my hand again and led me down the hall. His giddiness made me happy. I was so happy to be home.
