The Ceo's Contracted Mistress
The Ceo’s Contracted Mistress Chapter 58

Bobbie and Everly we’re laying on the bed early Saturday morning and listening to the sound of the three of their children giggling in the hall. They were discussing whether it was too early to wake their moms up or not. Both women felt it was even though they themselves had been up for a bit.

When they had arrived the evening before Lark had lunged at Max and Ollie crying about how much she’d missed them. It turned on the waterworks for Max, but Ollie just laughed at them, but she also hadn’t let go of Lark’s hand since she had arrived. They were inseparable at this point.

Everly was resting her head on Bobbie’s shoulder, and they had been discussing whether Bobbie should throw her birth control pills now or wait longer before the kids had interrupted. Olivier had already told her multiple times it was her choice. Her body was the one which had to go through it so whether they had more children or not was entirely up to her. He was happy to be getting her and the twins forever and any other child would be a bonus.

Now as the kids were at the door at five forty-five in the morning the debate was now in earnest.

“Two am feedings plus the twins,” Bobbie g*****d

“Exploding diapers and then the explosions like elephant toothpaste from Max.” Everly added her two cents.

“What if the next one is also a daredevil like Ollie. Remember when she was three and climbed the tree in the backyard?”

“Its why we built the treehouses and removed the fence. She was going to jump from one tree to the other to replace Lark.”

“If I plan one now then yours and mine will be close in age again. They will be thick as thieves.”

“Six kids between us.”

“At least you and Grady won’t be outnumbered. Me and Olivier will be fighting a three on two battle.” Bobbie g*****d.

“Mom,” Ollie called through the closed door. “We hear you. Can we come in?”

Everly made a face, “why are they asking?”

“They think the door is locked. Olivier always locks it.” Bobbie smirked. “He doesn’t want to explain adults doing the monkey s*x thing.”

Everly gave a snort of laughter before calling out to the kids to come in.

They threw the door open with violence and raced into the room throwing themselves into the bed and wriggling under the sheets to cuddle their moms.

“Maman,” Max said as he curled right on top of her pushing Ollie away, “you are marrying Papa today. He was very funny last night. He was so excited he cried, and grandpapa laughed at him and Timon threw a box of tissues. Grady called him a pussycat. He said he just loves you so much and all the feelings are just too much. He drank a lot of that brown stuff.”

Everly made an “aww” while Bobbie giggled at Max’s story grateful, he had misinterpreted Grady’s insult.

“What else did you do at your little party?” Bobbie inquired with a wide smile

“We played poker. Papa is really good and won everyone’s money. They said he was cheating. I learned to play. It was easy. You just count the cards.” He shrugged nonchalantly as Everly, and Bobbie exchanged a glance. “They said when I’m a grown up they are taking me to Las Vegas.”

“How fun for you.” Everly made wide eyes over his head as she sat up in the bed.

“Papa said he owns his own casino, but I won’t be allowed to play there.”

This time Bobbie and Everly couldn’t contain their laughs.

He looked at her. “Did you have fun with the chickens?”

Bobbie paled as she remembered the events of Thursday morning. “What?” Had he seen something?

“Walt said you were having a hen party last night.”

“Oh, thank God,” she m****d as she noted Everly’s grin. Imagining Max learning of Veronique’s proclivities for the macabre was not on Bobbie’s to do list. “A hen party is a rude way of saying a bunch of girls were all talking like clucking hens.”

“Oh. So, you didn’t have a party with chickens?” he seemed truly disappointed

“No. We had a lovely time with snacks and music, and we danced and did our nails.”

“Did you fall down like Timon?”

How out of control had they gotten with Max in attendance? “He fell?”

“He went upstairs from the theater to get more snacks and grandpapa had thrown a shoe at him when he called him old, and it was on the floor. He couldn’t see it when he came back because his arms were full of so many snacks and he tripped and fell. They laughed at him, but it scared me a little because I think he hit his head like Ollie.”

“Was he okay?”

“When he finally opened his eyes, he sat up on the floor and opened a bag of potato chips and started eating them right there.”

“Oh dear.” Bobbie couldn’t help her laughter. “Well, nobody fell down at our party. Did you like hanging with just the boys?”

He nodded and snuggled closer to her, “yes but I missed you.”

“Will you be okay with the men today or did you want to stay with us girls?” Everly offered.

“Papa said I have an important job today. I want to be with him.”

Bobbie admitted a bit of sadness he was choosing his dad over her but knew it wasn’t a slight. He was excited for the day. “Well, I am sure whatever job you get you will do it perfectly.”

Ollie sighed loudly against Bobbie. “Do we have special jobs?”

“You will need to ask your dad.” Bobbie told her honestly. “He hasn’t told me anything. I’m just supposed to show up.”

“We should go wake him and my dad up and ask them,” Lark said frowning. “I want a job too.”

“You should definitely go wake them up.” Meri’s voice called from the door.

“Mamaw!” the kids scrambled off the bed to her, wrapping their arms around her middle.

She smiled at Bobbie and Everly, “this never gets old.” She hugged the kids tight. “Your dads are both asleep outside on the loungers by the pool. You should get buckets of pool water and wake them.”

Bobbie opened her mouth to protest her words, but the kids were already gone.

Meri’s smile was wicked. “Those two buffoons dropped Levi into bed at four in the morning so drunk he couldn’t get his clothes off and he couldn’t even speak either language. They should have taken him to the pool with them. Do you think I got sleep listening to his snoring after four? They are lucky I told the kids pool water and not ketchup or syrup.” She sat on the edge of the bed. “Are you ready for today?”

Bobbie nodded. “I thought I would be nervous but I’m feeling strangely calm.”

“That is a good thing. Olivier arranged for a hair stylist to come this morning to do your hair. She is bringing a team I guess to do everyone’s. Fiona, Elise, and the girls will be up soon, I’m sure. They were sleeping still when I peeked in on them. My mother will be here soon as well. My father is beside himself to meet you and the kids. My mother called at five to say they were already on their way.”

“I’ve heard a lot about Gael but nothing really about your mom. What is she like?” Bobbie asked

“The complete opposite of my father. Quiet. Reserved. A true southern Belle. I don’t think she’s ever uttered a curse in her life, even in her head. She loves my father deeply. He thinks she believed he had an affair with his secretary, but my mother has known all along he never once betrayed his marriage vows. She lets him think he has one over on her, but she is very confident in his love for her. She just lets him play the blustering slug.”

“Really?” Bobbie was intrigued

“She told me once she would never have stayed with a man who cheated. He is full of hot air and loud and obnoxious but watch the way he treats her. He caters to her. She is his queen. Do you know she told me every night since they’ve been married, he brushes her hair before bed? I thought it weird when I was a teenager and she told me this but now I think it romantic.”

“Every night?” Everly questioned. “Except the nights they are apart.” She clarified, “right?”

“Other than the birth of me and my sister, they have never slept a single night apart. She goes where he goes. He doesn’t like her out of his sight.”

“My opinion of him is changing.” Everly frowned.

“The rest is true too though.” Meri sighed regrettably. “He is a bull in a China shop. He has no manners. He cannot control his tongue. If it’s in his head, it’s out of his mouth. He would throw fists if he felt the situation warranted and he really did bring a gun to our home when my kids were little and shot Olivier’s dog. Right in front of him too. He can be cold and unkind but the one thing I never doubted, even though I was not born with a p***s, my father loved us deeply and unconditionally. He was ready to shoot Levi for making me cry. My mom had to talk him down off the edge.”

Bobbie giggled. “He sounds hilarious.”

“Wait until he and Veronique are in the same room. He calls her a witch. She wants to put curses on him, and we have to remind her she can’t. They loathe each other.” Meri sighed, “my sister will be coming with her daughter Sissy. I’m sure you know Sissy and Olivier’s friend Soren are a couple.”

“I’ve met them both. Sissy and Soren. They seem lovely.” Bobbie felt her first moment of nerves, “how many people are going to be here?”

“Less than thirty,” she squeezed Bobbie’s hand reassuringly. “Olivier said he knew you wouldn’t be comfortable with a huge extended family and friend’s shindig.”

“He was right.” She nodded. “I’m glad to hear it won’t be over the top.”

A knock on the door made the three women look up. Mireille was there with an annoyed expression on her face. “There are people at the gate here to set up but I’m not letting anyone in. Riggs is supposed to be down there, but I can’t replace him. Olivier also threw the kids in the pool in their jammies, so they are racing through the house sopping wet.”

Bobbie started to get up, but Meri stopped her. “You stay here. You are having breakfast in bed this morning. I will get the kids sorted and the workers sorted.” She motioned to Everly, “you too. As the maid of honor, you have to keep her calm.”

They nestled back against the pillows and sighed.

Everly turned her head to look at her. “Do you remember how stressed out we were when I got married?”

“I remember holding your hair while you vomited hard because you were having morning sickness.” Bobbie recalled with a frown.

“Then I held your hair.” Everly laughed. “We barely knew each other a month then and look at us now.”

“I love you Everly.” Bobbie said seriously. “I don’t say it enough, but you are my sister, and I cannot imagine my life without you in it. I’m sorry for all the craziness the last few weeks has dumped on you and your family. It’s been a lot and you’re pregnant and it’s putting extra pressure on you. I guess what I’m trying to say is thanks for not telling me to f**k off and move away.”

Everly sniffed and hugged her tight, “you are my family, Bobbie. Through the good and bad. It’s been a bit inconvenient, but I would do anything for you, and I know none of this is your fault. Hopefully, the press settles down and we can get our lives back. I want to watch the kids play in the yard and for the to ride their bikes and I want for Grady to stop threatening to sue our neighbors.”

Bobbie grimaces, “Olivier told me they’ve been taking cash payments.”

“They are moving now too.”

“What? Why?”

“Riggs found out something on the good doctor,” she leaned forward conspiratorially. “He had his brother take his medical license exam. He knew it but couldn’t handle the pressure of the exams, so his brother did them for him.”

“No way!”

“He agreed to sell his house to Riggs for his silence. Henri is buying the one next to Meri’s because he offered more than the house is worth to the couple there.”

“Whoa! They’re buying up our neighborhood?” Olivier hadn’t mentioned this to her at all.

“Yup. Our cul-de-sac has eight houses, and everyone is moving out by end of month.”

“There are four streets in our gated community. He’s not going to buy four streets of houses.” Bobbie pointed out what she thought the obvious was.

“No, but he can make sure our street is off limits to anyone else. He and Grady have been talking lots about fencing our area in. I’m confident in what they’re doing. It’s going to work.”

“Good morning,” a cheerful voice called out from the door. “My name is Monique and I’m Mireille’s daughter. I’m here to bring the bride her breakfast.” She wheeled cart into the room. “Mimosas, fresh fruit, croissants, cheese, and yoghurt.” She lifted a tray and set it between Bobbie and Everly on the bed. “Hot coffee too.” She smiled widely at her, “Meri asked me to pass along the groom is already a wreck and is tearing the place apart. He’s also tried to come upstairs to see you three times, but Henri is stationed at the bottom of the stairs to keep him away. He said he wanted to talk to you about something important.”

Just then her phone rang, and she grinned as she reached for it. “Good morning, Olivier.”

“Chérie, good morning. I love you.”

Her smile pulled her cheeks, “I love you too.”

“I wanted to let you know something very important.”

“Yes?”

“I didn’t want to marry you today without telling you this.”

“What is it Olivier?” She was starting to feel nervous at the tone of his voice.

“I managed to locate your birth father.” He blurted it out, “I feel it is too big a secret to keep from you before we say our wedding vows. I knew you wouldn’t want me to look into it, but I did it anyway. Mostly because Timon made a comment a while back when he was researching diabetes how it was often genetic and I began to consider what might we not know we are passing onto our kids, current or future. It was bothering me, and I just needed to know. I located him and his family. I pulled his and their medical records just to make sure he didn’t have things we should be aware of and I’m happy to report everything appears fine, but I woke this morning feeling guilty. I have not made contact with any of them as I was truly just looking for medical information, but you have the right to know what I found. I can send Henri up with the time if you want to read it.”

She didn’t know what to say. “Olivier,” she swallowed the lump.

“I’m sorry. I started digging when we were in the Bahamas, and it dawned on me this morning this is almost like what I did with the morning show. I should have discussed it with you, and I didn’t, and I am so sorry. I’m telling you now because I can’t stand at the altar with secrets between us. I love you.”

“It’s okay, Olivier. I understand why you did it. You can send the file up, but I can’t promise to read it.” She felt the old ache in her chest, “he never wanted me. I’ll probably look at the medical stuff at some point but that’s it.”

“I understand. Can you forgive me?”

“I already have.”

His loud sigh of relief made her giggle and then he was gone.

She looked to Everly. “You heard that?”

“I did. Didn’t your mom tell you he had a bunch of kids before you? You might have siblings who you may want to know.”

“Or I could have siblings who are liars like their father and will try to use my relationship with Olivier for their own gains.” She made a face. “I have you and Grady, I have two sisters in law and two brothers in law. I have Levi as my Papa. I have Prue and Meri as stand-in moms. I have Veronique for whatever she is. My family and my heart are full. I have no need to go searching for father’s or siblings who never once wanted me or came to replace me.”

“Are you sure? This isn’t a decision you need to make today.”

“I simply feel in my heart this is right.”

Everly smiled widely at her. “You are amazing.”

“I feel amazing.” She shoved a piece of cheese into her mouth. “Now let’s get this show on the road. I have a man to marry.”
