The CEO's Lovely Twins -
Chapter 144 Is There No Other Room
"Aunt?" Hayden was stunned. Not able to control herself, she laughed out of a blue.
That girl was seemingly at most twelve or thirteen years old, but her seniority in the family was surprisingly greater than Joseph. It was hard to imagine how the situation that Joseph called her aunt would look like.
She glimpsed at Joseph and saw that his face did not look good. She bore herself from laughing to give him an out.
"Mark, this is just nominal, right? I think Joseph never calls her aunt, right?"
Unexpectedly, not knowing whether the butler was intentional or unintentional, he shook his head and directly denied, "He still has to call. Although Miss Eleanor is an adopted daughter, her name is already in the family tree. Every year, during Miss Eleanor's birthday or the ancestor worship at Spring Festival time, he has to call her."
Joseph glanced coldly at the butler, "Mark, you are getting old so you also tend to speak more and more unnecessary words. I think it is time to let you retire and go back to your house."
Hayden lowered her head and kept herself from laughing.
The butler immediately shut his mouth. He smiled awkwardly and changed the subject.
"There is a threshold here, pay attention and remember to lift your feet. Pay more attention, Little Noah and Little Stella."
The mansion of the Beckham family was a protected historic building in Nanking. It was a traditional mansion with spacious halls and extensive courtyards. They passed through several winding corridors and built-in mansion doors. After walking for quite a while, they finally arrived at the place to eat.
Although Harrison's hair was all white, his body was hale and he could stand in an upright position.
"Mr. Beckham," Hayden greeted him respectfully.
"Don't need to be so formal. It isn't a work occasion. Furthermore, I'm already retired, so don't call me Mr. Beckham. You can just call me grandpa like Joseph, don't need to be overcautious."
Hearing this, Hayden's face slightly blushed. After hesitating for a while, she called out, "Grandpa."
Harrison felt satisfactory. He then looked at Stella and Noah with a smile.
"Stella and Noah, come over to sit beside Great-grandpa."
Stella was not like an outsider at all. She held Harrison's hand and kissed on his cheek, "Great-grandpa, I want to eat that fried ice cream."
"Sure, the maids in the kitchen have prepared it for you. You'll be able to eat it later."
Seeing the warm scene in which Harrison and Stella had a close relationship, Hayden was a little suspicious, "When does Stella get so familiar with you?"
Harrison was slightly stunned. His brain was surprisingly stuck.
The butler hurriedly replied, "After meeting once in the hospital, Master has been very fond of Little Stella. And after he hears that she has a good relationship with Little Noah, he has given his phone number to Little Stella and has gotten her phone number too. Sometimes, he will ask Little Stella about Little Noah's matter in school."
"Oh, I see." Hayden did not suspect anymore, "This sounds reasonable. This is the first time Noah goes to school. It is normal that you may worry because he is alone at school."
However, Joseph's eyes looked somewhat complicated and he stared at Harrison for a while.
When Harrison, who had always been calm and self-possessed met Joseph's eyes, he coughed dryly and pretended to avoid it inadvertently.
These signs made Joseph realized that there must be some secrets between these two kids and Grandpa. Grandpa was so familiar with Stella and it totally did not look like they had only met once. "Grandpa, the fried ice cream was also part of the conversations of you guys over the phone?" He purposely wanted to demolish their plans.
Harrison's brain was stuck again. He glanced at the butler but this time, the butler also did not know what to do.
After the grandfather and his grandson looked at each other for a few seconds, Harrison coughed nonchalantly.
"I know Stella is going to come over so I've asked her in advance about the food she likes to eat. Being a great-grandfather, have I done anything wrongly? On the contrary, you've known Hayden for so long but when I asked you what she likes to eat, what did you say?"
Harrison managed to outfox Joseph.
Joseph was stunned.
"What did you say?" Hayden raised her eyebrows and looked at him curiously, "What do I like to eat?"
"Ahem." Joseph was a little unnatural, “I remember that you are apparently not a picky eater and you don't have any habit of avoiding certain food, so..."
"So, you don't remember anything." Harrison glared at him and regained his authority as an elder at this moment, "It's because Hayden is good-tempered. If she is replaced by those little girls outside, they'll definitely want to break up with you."
Joseph frowned and was completely speechless due to this criticism.
Seeing this on the side, Hayden felt really good and she looked on without sympathy. Perhaps, Harrison was the only person in the world who could reprimand Joseph like this without reason.
The atmosphere when having dinner was very pleasant. The two obedient kids were sitting on Harrison's left and right sides while Hayden and Joseph sat on the two sides of the table respectively while facing each other. The chefs in the Beckham family were really outstanding as the tastes of meals made by them were entirely not inferior to the meals made by the best chef in ST Hotel.
After eating, the two kids went upstairs to play. Hayden and Joseph accompanied Harrison to sit in the living room and drink tea.
"Hayden, see which day you are free. Let's choose a date."
"What date?" Hayden's heart tightened.
"I think the matter between you and Joseph should be told to the relatives and friends so that the promiscuous women outside won't have the gall to approach Joseph."
Harrison was originally smiling. But, when he spoke of 'promiscuous women', he glared at Joseph, "I've asked him to go and settle everything with that actress. He keeps dragging and see what, things and troubles happen now. If it isn't because Hayden is magnanimous, you're bound to regret it."
Speaking of Viola's news, Hayden was a little diffident. She helped Joseph to explain, "Actually, it isn't a big deal, it's just a rumour, not to mention that everything is resolved now. Grandpa, don't take it seriously."
The word 'Grandpa' made Harrison felt ecstatic.
"You're indeed a daughter of a well-bred family, you're much more magnanimous than certain people. That's agreed, then. The tenth day of next month is a decent day. It's my birthday so we can take this opportunity to announce the matter between you and Joseph."
Hayden's eyebrows furrowed slightly and she was a bit flustered.
"Grandpa, you haven't met with Hayden's family yet. So, it is inappropriate to decide on this on your own," Joseph suddenly spoke and answered for Hayden.
"How come I forget about this?" Harrison was a bit upset, "Yes, we have to make arrangements to meet Hayden's family members first."
"I'll handle this matter." Knowing the complexity of matters of Hayden's family, Joseph answered for her again.
"Okay, you have to do it as soon as possible," Harrison urged Joseph as he was slightly worried about it.
Hearing them talking, Hayden was a bit distracted. She felt that a smart and sensitive person like Joseph must have seen her hesitation just now. She did not know if he had misunderstood something. In the evening, Harrison asked Hayden and Joseph to stay at the mansion, not allowing Hayden to refuse. The servants said that the two children had fallen asleep so Hayden could not leave anymore. Therefore, she could just obey him.
Not knowing it was the maids' intention or Harrison's intention, she was surprisingly arranged to stay in Joseph's room.
"Is there no other room?" Hayden stood at the door of Joseph's bedroom and was a little embarrassed. After all, they had not gotten married yet and since this house was so antique, she felt that they should be conservative here.
