The CEO's Lovely Twins -
Chapter 72 Only The Dead Will Keep Secrets
"No, Hayden is the daughter of the Downey family. How could she be a surrogate for someone?" Viola frowned and wished to replace evidence to deny that Hayden as the surrogate girl back then. "And if Hayden was the surrogate girl in the first place, then how many children did she actually give birth to? Why is there another child with her now?"
Lachlan pushed up his glasses and slowly flipped open the papers, which contain the details about the matter.
"According to Caesar, six years ago they arrested the wrong person from a nightclub. It was only after what they wanted to do was done, they found out that they got the wrong girl. Later, Caesar, the housekeeper, kept a secret eye on Hayden until he saw her going to the hospital for abortion. Then he sent someone to stop her and forced her to sign a contract. She gave birth to a boy first and Caesar took it away from her. Only later Caesar found out from the doctor and realized that she was having twins, there was still another baby girl, but the baby had been taken away by Hayden. Partly out of guilt, and partly because he wanted the thing to be a secret, he did not go back to Hayden again. He resigned shortly afterwards and went back to his hometown."
"So..." Viola held the corner of the dressing table, her expression softened a little.
"Joseph simply doesn't know that they made a mistake about getting the wrong surrogate girl."
"According to the situation now, I guess the only person who knew about it was Caesar. The people involved back then may have gone to another city, not sure whether they are alive or dead now."\ "We must not let Joseph know about this."
Viola vaguely felt that if Joseph knew that Hayden was Noah's biological mother, she would never have the chance to marry him.
Hence, she would never let such a thing to happen.
"That's your own business then." Lachlan gathered up the papers and stood up, "My work is done, give me the final payment earlier."
"You're the best detective of Nanking who values money so much. I wouldn't dare to not pay you every cent you deserve," Viola took a glance at him, with a somewhat contemptuous expression. However, Lachlan was frank to admit this statement, "Of course I value it, and I also think that money is something that deserves to be valued. This is because the only thing that wouldn't cheat you, is money." It was the first time that Viola had heard someone speaking so frankly about his love towards money. She snorted with a look of disagreement and instructed her manager beside her, "Jason, transfer him the money."
While Jason was busy transferring the money, she looked through the information in the papers. She then tore them into pieces and threw them into the rubbish bin, "These are photocopied versions. Where's the original copy? Where's the original copy of the contract back then?"
"Caesar is not an idiot. At last, I couldn't prove that I'm working for Joseph, so he took it back and refused to let me see anymore. I secretly took pictures of this evidence. Plus, I'm only responsible to replace out the truth, I'll not be responsible to get the original copy for you. However, you couldn't deduct my pay because of this; the conditions have been stated in the contract."
It was all about money. All Lachlan cared about was only money. Viola was tired of hearing him talking about money. Suddenly, she thought of something. She looked at him and said, "Since you love money so much, how about if you go and do something for me, and when you accomplished your task, I'll pay you five million dollars. How's that sound to you?"
"Five million?" Lachlan was trying to figure out her intentions, "What do you want me to do?"
"I want the truth of this matter to be a secret forever."
A sinister look shone in Viola's eyes.
"I won't kill people no matter how much you pay me," Lachlan rejected her request without a second thought, "I only do technical work, you should replace a hitman for such things."
But Viola said, "I didn't ask you kill him, I only want you to replace a way to destroy all the original information in Caesar's hands. Can you do it?"
Lachlan hesitated for a moment when he heard this. It was indeed a bit difficult, but it wasn't a completely impossible thing to do.
"Six million."
After a moment of calculation, he lifted his head and looked straight into Viola's eyes, "This is a risky task. It's illegal to break into people's homes." "Okay," Viola agreed instantly, "It's a deal."
After Lachlan left, Jason locked the dressing room door and said, "It's not a good idea for you to let him do this, he doesn't look like he's very good at it, so don't create any more trouble." "My intention is to make trouble."
Viola had a sinister look on her face, "Jason, go replace another person to follow Lachlan. After he destroys all the information, get rid of Caesar."
"You mean..."
"Only the dead will keep secrets."
The next morning, Joseph woke up and noticed fragrance of buns. From the first floor, he saw that both children were up and sitting around the dining table to eat. Moreover, a try of buns was stimming hot, giving out a strong smell of fragrance.
"You're awake, come down and have breakfast."
Hayden came out from the kitchen, still carrying a pot of congee in her hand, "Red date congee, meat buns and vegetarian buns."
Joseph nodded, warmth melted his icy cold expressions as he turned around.
"Miss Downey, I'll do it. You can just sit down."
When Emma saw that Hayden was about to distribute the congee, she quickly approached her to help. She gave Hayden and the two kids each a bowl of congee, and then carefully brought the fourth bowl to Joseph.
"Young master, you can drink the congee now."
Joseph took a glance at it and asked, "Where are the chopsticks?"
Hayden and the two kids were using spoon to drink the congee. They also used their hands to eat the buns, so they were not so particular about using chopstick. Hence, there was no sign of chopsticks on the table.
However, Joseph's question startled Emma. Her hands shook and she spilled the hot congee in the bowl.
Joseph's face darkened instantly. A sound of the chair rubbed against the floor was heard. He frowned and looked at the congee on his pants, "What's wrong with you?"
Emma was so scared that her legs went weak and she fell to her knees, her eyes turned red instantly, "Young master, I didn't mean to do so."
Seeing this, Hayden was also shocked and came over to check on him.
"Are you alright? Did it burn you?"
Joseph frowned, a displeasure look appeared on his face. This mess actually made him feel embarrassed when Hayden was around.
"I guess you're alright." Hayden looked at the frightened Emma and frowned, "I think you are being too fierce to the maid. She's still a little girl, you're scaring her."
Hearing this, Joseph narrowed his eyes and asked, "I'm fierce?"
He only asked a question of 'What's wrong with you?', and that was considered as him being fierce?
"Aren't you fierce? You made Emma so frightened."
Hayden held Emma and suddenly came back to her senses, realizing that she had made a mistake and tried to amend her statement, "No, I didn't mean to say you are fierce. I just want to say that, after all, Emma is only nineteen years old. Moreover, I heard that she only came here to work a month ago, so you should treat her better."
Okay, all this explanation wasn't helping at all. He was still a fierce guy.
"Forget it," Joseph was a little impatient and waved his hand to let Emma go, then he strode upstairs.
The two little ones looked at each other in front of the table. Stella understood the situation and said with a worried face, "Joseph seems to have been burned. I'll go check on him."
Hayden immediately turned and looked at her, "What's the use for you to go and check on him? You don't know how to treat scald wounds. Don't make trouble, sit down and eat properly. I'll go take a look." With that, she wiped her hands and headed towards the changing room on the first floor.☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐
