The Cherished Wife (Noelle and Charles) -
Chapter 322
Charles was still working away in his office when Samuel called to remind him that Winter and Xavier's wedding was just around the corner. Even though Noelle was married to Charles, their relationship was a secret, and Samuel was concerned that the wedding might upset Noelle.
Noelle felt Samuel was worrying too much. Winter and Xavier were just regular people to her then, and she would not give them a second thought unless they bothered her.
However, Samuel was her elder, and Noelle did not want to be disrespectful by dismissing his concerns.
After the call, Noelle made some wheatgrass fruit juice and carried it upstairs to the office.
Charles was deep in his work, sorting through papers. When he heard Noelle's soft footsteps, he stopped and looked up at the door.
Noelle tried to be as quiet as a mouse, but Charles still noticed her. She stood at the door with a big grin. "How do you always hear me coming?" she asked.
Charles just smiled and waved her over. Noelle walked up to him. "Aren't you sleepy yet?" Charles asked.
"I just can't fall asleep!" Noelle said, handing him a glass of wheatgrass fruit juice. Charles looked at it, puzzled. "I'm not sick. Why wheatgrass juice?" he asked. However, he took it anyway and drank it all up.
Noelle smiled when she saw the
empty glass. You know, it's getting really chilly at night. Winter's
coming, yet here you are, working late again." She walked over to him, went behind the couch, and started to gently massage his forehead with her delicate fingers. "Are you almost done with work?" she asked.
"Just a few last things," Charles replied, clearly enjoying the massage. He put his papers aside and leaned back, letting Noelle's skilled hands help him relax. After a
while, Charles felt mucere
Noette looked at his tired face and felt sorry for him. "Why do you have to work so late? Can't it Wait until tomorrow?"
Charles was the big boss of Collosus Group, and he had to keep track of everything happening there. It was a huge job, so he was always super busy. Noelle knew that Charles had even more on his plate, like running Royal Star Entertainment, Curio Corner, and even sorting out stuff for The Majestic Lounge.
"Charles, aren't you exhausted with all this stuff to do?" she asked.
Charles just grinned and said, "I'm fine!" He grabbed Noelle's hand and pulled her close. "Noelle, are you worried about me?"
Noelle rolled her eyes. "Worried about you? As if!" she said.
Charles held her hand gently in his, and Noelle looked down, playing with his fingers. "I mean, if you don't even take care of yourself, why should I worry?"
Charles looked at her, his eyes a little serious. "I do take care of myself," he insisted. Holding her hand tight, he asked, "So, why did you come to my study so late? Do you have something to tell me?"
Noelle quirked an eyebrow. "Oh, I
forgot about that. Didn't I introduce you to my maternal grandpa already? I was thinking, you should visit my paternal grandpa soon." She chewed on her lip, deep in thought. "Grandpa called earlier. He said Winter and Xavier are getting married in three days. He's worried I might be upset. But why would I be?"
