Noelle noticed that Charles had many small habits. He particularly enjoyed playing with her fingers, though Noelle did not understand what was so fascinating about her fingers.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door of Elegant Pavilion. Soon, the manager pushed the door open. "Sir Shaw, please."

Noelle quickly stood up, pulling Charles along to greet him. "Grandpa!"

As he was supported by Eli and leaning on a cane, Samuel walked in. Samuel looked up after hearing Noelle's clear and warm voice, his dark eyes shining as he first looked at Noelle and then at Charles beside her.

Charles met Samuel's gaze calmly. "Grandpa."

Samuel narrowed his eyes, nodding. "Hello, hello."

"Grandpa, don't just stand there. Please, come sit!" Noelle let go of Charles's hand and helped Samuel to a seat. Then, she said, "Grandpa, you remember Charles, right? He was there on your birthday and gave you a chessboard. Do you remember?"

"Hello again." Charles nodded slightly.

Samuel laughed, patting Noelle's hand. "How could I not recognize him? You silly girl!" Samuel looked at Charles with a smile, but his eyes were still scrutinizing.

He nodded with satisfaction. "Silly girl, getting married is such a big deal. How could you not tell me? I—"

"Am I not telling you now?" Noelle affectionately held Samuel's arm, nudging him. "You were sick before and I didn't want you to worry about me. Sol didn't tell you about

marrying Charles. He treats me very

well, Grandpa!"

"You're shameless, girl." Samuel said that, but his tone was full of indulgence for Noelle. "Did you tell your Grandpa Jones about your marriage? His temper isn't as good as mine. Have you taken Charles to meet him?"

Noelle said with a shy smile, "Yes, we have. Grandpa Jones' temper is really not as good." She whispered in Samuel' ear, "Plus, Grandpa Jones didn't 't hear it from me. Someone else told him. So, he got really angry. It took Charles and I a lot of effort to calm him down."

"Silly girl!" Samuel patted Noelle's head. "You're too clever and mischievous. And did you manage to convince your Grandpa Jones?"

Although Samuel was asking Noelle, he looked at Charles.

Charles smiled. "Thank you for your concern, Grandpa. Yes. We managed to convince him." He added, "So, today, I'm here to convince you."

"I'm very easygoing. As long as you

treat our Noelle well, nothing else matters." Samuel did not have many demands. "You know Noelle's situation. Let me be upfront, Noelle has suffered enough since she was little. My only requirement is that you treat her well and take care of her for a lifetime."

Charles smiled. "Of course. Since I've married Nelly, I'll always keep her close to my heart. As for what you mentioned about Nelly's past, I don't consider them issues. Now that she's my wife, I'll protect her forever."
