The Cherished Wife (Noelle and Charles) -
Chapter 385
Charles often teased her about her lack of stamina, but Noelle knew it was not her stamina that was lacking-it was his that was extraordinarily strong.
Not one to take advantage and then complain, Charles immediately apologized when he saw she was upset. "It's my fault. I wasn't considerate enough of your situation. I promise I'll be much gentler tonight!" "Tonight?!" Noelle exclaimed in disbelief. "You're not allowed to sleep in the master bedroom tonight, and definitely not in the same bed as me!"
Still fuming, Noelle pushed Charles aside and marched into the bathroom, her emotions churning as she wondered how she ended up with someone like him. She realized now that she had not fully grasped how relentless he could be.
Charles watched her with a gleam in his eye, then shook his head in mock defeat. "Hurry up and get ready. I'll go downstairs and make breakfast for you."
Noelle had been furious just moments ago, but the gentle, indulgent tone in Charles' voice quickly softened her.
Resigned, she squeezed out some toothpaste and began brushing her teeth.
By the time Noelle finally made her way downstairs, Charles had already prepared breakfast and was waiting for her.
Feeling slightly embarrassed, she fiddled with her hair and tugged at the hem of her clothes. "It's my first day at work, and I don't want to make a bad impression, so I..." She glanced down at her outfit, which was simple yet appropriate.
Since it was her first day, she did not want to draw too much attention.
It was late autumn, and the weather had turned cool, so she wore a light sweater with a pale coat over it. The outfit made her look both sophisticated and elegant, truly eye-catching.
Charles' gaze lingered on her, his eyes full of admiration, though he did not say a word.
Feeling nervous, Noelle took a few steps closer. "What do you think of this outfit?"
"It's perfect," Charles replied, nodding as he gestured for her to come over. "Now, hurry up and eat your breakfast before it gets cold. Eating cold food is bad for your stomach."
Since Noelle wanted to keep a low
profile on her first day, she declined
Charles' offer to drive her and instead took the red Ferrari he had given her some time ago. Although the car did not quite match her personality, she had been driving it for a while now and was quite comfortable with it. Contént belongs to Ebookex.com
Charles arrived at the office first, where Ronald was already waiting. As soon as he saw Charles, he quickly caught up to him. "Mr. Hoffman, Brian mentioned yesterday that he sent an email to your wife.
I'm not sure if..."
"Yes, she's starting work today," Charles confirmed, pausing to glance at Ronald. "Tell Brian there's no need to treat her differently. Let her be treated like any other employee." After a moment's thought, Charles added, "Notify all department heads that we're having a meeting at nine."
"Understood." Ronald stopped in his
tracks as Charles entered his office. He then turned to Becky. "You heard what Mr. Hoffman said. Make sure to notify everyone about the meeting."
"Yes, sir!"
Charles entered his office, took off his suit jacket, and sat down to start his day. He turned on his computer and began working through the emails in his inbox.
A short while later, Ronald knocked on the door and entered. "Mr. Hoffman, regarding the West City Development Project..."
"Hmm?" Charles looked up. "Go on."
"Sir Hoffman has instructed that we allocate a portion to Frotconn," Ronald said carefully, watching Charles' expression.
Charles' brows knitted together slightly, a stern look settling over his handsome features.
Though subtle, it was a clear sign of displeasure to those who knew him well.
