The Cherished Wife (Noelle and Charles) -
Chapter 429
Charles took the opportunity to pinch Noelle's cheek, then said with a serious tone, "You've definitely lost weight!"
Noelle pinched her own cheek again and playfully swatted Charles' hand away. "I don't believe you. I've definitely gained weight recently."
Smiling, she added, "I get it. You just want me to eat more so that you can later tease me about getting fat, right?"
"You cheeky girl!" Charles could not help but laugh softly. He gently patted Noelle's cheek and said, "Alright, let's go buy some groceries first."
"Okay!" Noelle nodded, holding onto Charles' hand as they walked forward. "I'm still thinking about what we should eat. Charlie, do you have any suggestions?"
"Xavier, what do you want to eat tonight?" Winter asked as she held Xavier's hand. Xavier was pushing the shopping cart, and the two of them happened to be at Jenz Plaza as well. Since Winter was busy filming during the day, she wanted to spend more time with Xavier in the evening to strengthen their relationship. Emilia had suggested they go shopping together.
In truth, Winter was not particularly enthusiastic about grocery shopping. However, considering her relationship with Xavier and the fact that Emilia was treating her well, she felt it was worth the effort. Xavier, however, had no interest in picking out groceries. He usually just waited at home for meals to be served. Even when he was with Noelle, it was Noelle who took charge of the cooking. That was why grocery shopping was not something that appealed to him. He only agreed to go out because he felt stifled at home lately.
After wandering around the store, the two clueless folks ended up randomly picking out some items before heading to the checkout counter.
All of a sudden, Xavier, who had been distracted, suddenly seemed to snap back to reality. He left Winter behind without a word and pushed through the crowd, walking ahead. "Xavier!"
Winter was completely baffled by his
sudden departure. She hurried to
follow him but was slowed down by
the shopping cart she was pushing.
By the time she caught up to:
vier,
she found him standing still, staring
blankly at something.
"Xavier? What's wrong? Why did you walk off like that?" Winter asked, feeling puzzled as she followed Xavier's gaze. All she could see were crowds of people.
It was rush hour, and the place was packed. Winter looked around but saw nothing out of the ordinary. "Xavier? Did you see someone you know?"
Xavier snapped out of his daze, pressed his lips together, and frowned slightly. He shook his head as he replied, "No."
"Then..." Winter did not believe him, but since she had not seen anything unusual, she decided to let it go. "Let's go pay for our groceries?"
"Alright," Xavier agreed, though he still felt a sense of unease. He looked around one more time but saw nothing.
He was certain he had seen Noelle just moments ago. Although her appearance was different from what he was used to, he recognized her instantly. However, who was the man standing next to her?
Since the man had his back to him, Xavier had not been able to see his face. He only knew that he looked vaguely familiar. Yet, he could n
place who it was.
The thought of Noelle being close to another man, especially with the happiness she showed as she held his arm, sent a surge of anger through Xavier.
He could not help but clench his fists. Even though he knew he and Noelle were over, he still could not let go.
"Is your mom really planning on having Noelle marry Bob?"
