The Chronicles of Moon -
Chapter 49
Doc Knows Best
Once they were alone in the car, Moon kept looking back at the school, hoping that it was indeed safe to leave Bella there all day. She wants to go back and get her right then and there. Colin reaches over and takes her hand in his.
“She is going to be fine. I do have people watching her and extra patrol around the school.” He assures her.
“I know, but still, we don’t know who the rat is.” Moon’s frustration starts to show as she slumps in the seat.
“No, that’s why I only have people I’m sure I can trust.” Colin tries to put her mind at ease, squeezing her hand. “You need to see Doc, and that is what we are doing next. Ben and Emily should be here soon. The rest of the Big Springs pack are already settling in.”
“Do I really need to see Doc? I feel fine. You could show me around instead.” She looks at Colin with a crooked smile and is hopeful he will cave, but she knows it is unlikely.
“I don’t care how cute you look, kitten. You are not getting out of seeing Doc.” he looks at her from the corner of his eye, and he can’t hide his amusement.
“You’re no fun.” She states in a playful tone and huffing a little slumping back in the seat a little more.
“I have never claimed to be.” He chuckles, but the look on his face is a little dark, and she can tell he is thinking of something else.
The drive takes less time than Moon had hoped. She looks out the window at everything she can, trying to memorize where everything interesting might be. Moon would rather be doing anything else than seeing Doc. She likes the man just fine, but she could be looking at all the shops or go and replace someplace like Moon Lake. Hating that she had to leave her home and her favorite place to go and think, needing to replace a new place like that one is something she is all too eager to do.

They are sitting in Dr. Lewis’s office too soon, and Moon just feels uncomfortable. She told him everything again and answered all of his questions. When he ordered more blood draws, she rolled her eyes without meaning to. Colin grew still when Doc asked if they had thought of completing mating and marking each other. She was a bright scarlet pink and just shook her head. Why did he need to ask that? She had already caught Doc trying to see her neck, clearly looking for confirmation if Colin had marked her.
“Well, I am of the opinion that we don’t know what that might do. I do recommend waiting until she shifts fully before you proceed further with that aspect of your relationship.” Doc states flatly, looking at them both. Moon can’t even look at Colin at this point. This is not a conversation she wants to be having.
“Just take things slowly but clearly; being together is helping her wolf gain strength. Any ideas about what your grandfather could have done to suppress Kiara and why?” Doc asks more gently.
“No, but I hope to replace out.” Moon replies.
“Well then, just take things easy and don’t push anything.” Doc has a small smile on his face, and when Moon glances at Colin, he looks annoyed.
“We won’t.” Colin answers standing. He had already planned on taking things slowly. The last thing he wants is to do anything that would make things worse for them. However, keeping his thoughts off her was getting harder and harder. His every impulse is to take her to his room. Never let her leave until she is his in every way. He wants to worship every part of her until he knows her body better than his own. He is in a literal hell, trying not to think about it every second.
Moon’s phone buzzes with a text from Emily.
Just made it to the packhouse. Sorry we didn’t call sooner; cell service has sucked.
“Ben and Em are here.” She stands and heads for the door without thinking. “Oh, sorry, are we done now?” Moon turns to Doc, who just smiles and nods.
Once they are back in the car, Moon huffs. “See told you it would be pointless.” She smirks at Colin, who just shakes his head.
“Better safe than sorry, I suppose,” he says as they start back for the packhouse, but he is gripping the wheel tighter than before.
Kiara is frustrated and insists that Doc is wrong. She fully wants her mate and is pushing Moon more and more to give in as well.
Doc knows best, right? Moon teases her wolf.
No, I don’t think he does. Kiara snits back, bristling and growling in frustration, clearly not interested in being teased at the moment.
She then proceeds to fill Moon’s thoughts with Colin, from how he smells to the caress of his hands on her skin. The way his lips feel on hers. The rasp in his voice when he first wakes up. The low hum of Colin’s growl breaks her thoughts, and she looks at him.
He is even more uncomfortable, and she can’t think of what is wrong. “What is it?” Moon asks intently, looking around.
“You have no idea how much you are killing me right now?” He is trying to suppress Farrell, who is not in the mood to wait or be teased either.
It dawns on her what she was thinking about, and she is turned on by it. The thought that he knows it and can smell her makes her cover her face with her hands. “It wasn’t me. It’s Kiara’s fault. She has her own opinions, and she disagrees with Doc.”
“Neither does Farrell, but doc knows best, right?” Colin asks, clearly hopeful that Moon will disagree as well.
Moon has never been so happy to see Ben and Emily then she was at that moment, standing in front of the packhouse.
“Oh look, they’re here.” She says, changing the subject, and as soon as the car stops, she bolts from it, leaving poor Colin more turned on than he has ever been in his life. No cold shower could even hope to help at this point. He isn’t sure he can leave the car anytime soon. He can smell her everywhere.
This is going to fucking suck. Ferrell growls as Colin finally leaves the car and adjusts a bit.
