Who’s in Charge?

Moon wakes up to the sound of Bella giggling in the next room. She’s angry at herself for falling asleep, but she doesn’t regret what happened earlier. Kiara is still sleeping in the corner of her mind, contentedly purring in her sleep. Moon shakes her head, smiling at the thought. She didn’t think wolves purred, but that’s what she’s doing.

She stretches and yawns, trying to wake up a bit more when the door opens. Turning to see Colin, Moon feels her cheeks turning pink. She looks away trying not to feel stupid.

“Why did you let me sleep?” Moon asks, wondering if her legs will work right, yet every muscle is sore.

“I thought you could use the rest.” He remarks, sounding slightly too pleased with himself, only making her blush more. “I’m going to draw you a bath, and you are going to relax until dinner is ready.” I’m moving across the room to stand in front of her. Holding out his hand, she takes it, but her legs still feel like Jell-O. Colin chuckles a little and scoops her up in his arms.

“You can put me down.” Moon almost pleads, feeling silly.

“I could, but this is more fun.” One corner of his mouth twitches like he’s trying not to smile.

Colin carries her to their bathroom and sets her on the counter so he can fill the tub. He goes to a cabinet and retrieves a towel setting it on the counter next to her. He puts both hands on the other side of her looking deep in her eyes.

Moon can’t tell for sure what he is thinking, but she can make a guess. The thought makes her heat up as she gets lost in his eyes. Thoughts of earlier flooding her mind making everything around them tense. The muscles in Colin’s jaw tighten.

“Don’t start something, kitten.” He says darkly in her ear, the smile still toying at the corner of his mouth. She captures his face in her hands when he moves back, pulling him to her and wrapping her legs around him.

His kiss is just as needy as hers. Soon he has her off the counter and in his arms.

“You are making this impossible.” He says between kissing her lips and down her neck. He can feel the heat coming from her, and he just wants her. Farrell has had enough of being good and is fighting for control now as well.

If you won’t mark her, I will. Farrell growls, nearly wild and savage. She is Mine. Colin is fighting hard, but he can feel his teeth elongating as she kisses his neck.

“Kitten, you need to stop. I can’t take much more of this torcher.” Colin’s voice is low and dark as he tries to remain in control. Not that he wants to be in control but with Bella playing in the next room, now is not the ideal time. He sets her back on the counter, and Moon seems to come to her senses, blinking a few times as she realizes she wasn’t the one in control; it was Kiara.

“I’m sorry. “Moon starts before Colin kisses her quickly, stealing the rest of the words off her lips.

“Do not be sorry, never be sorry. That wasn’t you, was it?” He says, resting his forehead on hers a moment and breathing hard. “I think Kiara has the same idea as Farrell.” Colin laughs but without humor in it. He turned, and the tub is very full now. “You take your bath, and dinner will be in a little while.” He kisses her on the forehead but leaves quickly.

Why did you do that? Moon half scolds her wolf.

What? I just know what I want. The wolf replies, casually curling back up in the corner of Moon’s mind. Not my fault you two have so much restraint. She stays sulking in the corner as Moon undresses and puts her hair up before slipping into the hot water of the tub.

Moon is still embarrassed that she practically threw herself at Colin like that. From now on, she will have to be more mindful of Kiara trying to take over. Moon had been so distracted she didn’t even notice Kiara had woken up.

Colin closes the bathroom door and sits on the bed hard, rubbing his face in his hands.

We could just go back in there and climb in that tub with her. Farrell tries.

Will you just shut up? Colin is yelling in his mind at his wolf. Don’t ever try that again, do you hear me! You took advantage of the situation. Just don’t. Colin scolds the wolf, and Farrell isn’t used to it. He’s used to Colin being irritated with him but not angry.

Fine, but I don’t share this idea that waiting is what is best. If we just mark her, then it makes it harder for Caleb and Maddox to take her from us. It is the best way to protect her. Farrell retorts, just as angry now and a little hurt.

Colin flops back on the bed, his hands over his face. I want to do what is best for her, and I don’t know what that is until we read those journals. Can we agree on that? Colin is now just as exasperated as Farrell is. The wolf is clearly thinking over what Colin said, and the last thing he wants to do is hurt Moon.

Fine! Journals first, then we mark her. Farrell tries, but Colin scowls at him. Okay, fine, we replace out what they say and how we fix her not being able to shift. I will behave, but if she keeps… Colin growls, and Farrell stops a moment.

She’s going to be curled up with us all night. Farrell can’t seem to stop and is getting some amusement in Colin’s pain.

Don’t remind me that I’m going to be in heaven and Hell all at once. Colin groans, his hands still covering his face. He can’t wait until they get those books and figure out what Mark did so they can undo it already. This might be the worst hell he could imagine, even if it is the most delicious torcher, and it would be so easy to go back into that bathroom and join her in that tub.

Nope, Colin scolds himself. He hopes that getting up and leaving the room to cook dinner will at least distract him for a little while.
