The Delta's Daughter -
The Delta’s Daughter Chapter 81
Mathias
2 days before the full moon
I wasn’t planning on it, it just happened.
Bear shifters don’t just bite, mark and mate like a wolf. It is a lot more intimate.
We imprint on our mates, usually during mating. Then, we would mark them, by exchanging our b***d where we wanted our marks to appear and they would manifest in the same spot, no matter who marked who. It is usually the boar that will mark and imprint on the female.
Because of how aggressive bear shifters can be during mating, it can be dangerous and we could easily kill our mate. So the moon goddess gave us a more harmonious and devoted way to claim them. Imprinting forms a deep connection with our souls and the souls of our counterparts, her wolf and my beast.
When I looked into Lamia’s eyes as I seated myself deep inside her, Arcas came forward and the connection was immediate. Imprinting on her had to be the most sensual thing I have ever experienced. I have never been gentle with a female, but with Lamia it was a whole other experience. I couldn’t help being anything but reverent.
Waking with her in my arms was another new experience for me and I smiled, fully. Her blonde and black streaked hair was scattered behind her as her head lay on my chest, one arm over my waist, the other tucked to my side and a long olive leg thrown over mine.
I took her twice more last night, in the same gentle way. The funny thing was, all these years I could never replace satisfaction, but every time she satiated the beast. Never once was Arcas in a hurry, never once was he chasing that release, never once did he not care about her satisfaction.
I would give this woman everything, my very soul.
Now that we imprinted on her, she owns us. And I’m not sure she realizes that.
I wanted to complete the claiming last night, but I know she needs time based on our previous conversation. Our bond will only become stronger now and the need to mark and fully claim each other will only grow now we have imprinted into her very soul.
*King, They said I can leave the medic ward. Where you at?* Tobias had stayed overnight in the Clan medical ward, they wanted to keep an eye on his infection from the wounds the Crawlers had inflicted. His voice invaded my head and I mentally g*****d at him.
*We will come to you, give me 30min to wake up Lamia* I couldn’t help the smile as I linked him back.
*Sure thing, King, just don’t take too long, I don’t think I can take another minute of the nurses wanting to give me a bed bath* He laughed. That surprised me, as I was sure, if he was OK, he would have let them give him a little more than just a bed bath.
“Little wolf…” I gently stroked her cheek, trying to rouse her. She grumbled. “Little wolf, we need to get going.” This time I sat up a little and lifted her cheek. Her emerald greens peeling open, one at a time. Looking at me with the haze of sleep still in her eyes.
I felt my c**k twitch but this was not the time, because it would be quick. I liked taking my time with her. The sooner we got back to my Clan mansion the better. Then I could take all the time I wanted.
“What? Why?” Her voice croaky with sleep.
“We need to leave, my queen. As much as I would love to stay in this bed with you for eternity, we have kingdoms to run.” I said, brushing the hair from her face.
“Uggghhh” She g*****d again. “I forgot where we were. How is Tobias?”
“ OK, I think, he just linked me, he is ready to get going too.”
“Fine, fine. But I’m skipping the shower because I want your scent all over me.” I beamed when she said that, l f*****g like that idea. No male would come near her with my scent on her and in her.
She stood up and made her way to the bathroom. I watched her tight and perky a*s as she went. “I thought you weren’t showering?” I yelled when I heard the water turn on.
“I said I want your scent all over me, not your fluids.” She laughed from the other room. She came out and went out of the bedroom.
“My clothes are in the other room” She explained, as if knowing I was going to ask her what she was doing. I had forgotten about her suit. I threw on the pair of shorts and t-shirt I wore yesterday, knowing I would be shifting to run home.
Tobias was already waiting for us outside the medical ward when we got there, conversing with the Clan Alpha. I was enamored by Lamia’s concern for him, when she went up to him and started checking him out, turning him and inspecting him from head to toe. I took the opportunity to talk with the Alpha telling him I would send reinforcements and to issue a curfew. Any other Alpha would be jealous, but I had imprinted on her and I could see Tobias’ nose twitch at her scent and then a smug smirk falling over his face.
“Are you ok to shift? is it still burning? What did the doc say?” She fired her questions at him.
“Yes, itches, no idea, and you two did the nasty!” He chuckled.
She swatted his arm and gave him a stern look in jest. Tobias, feigning hurt, laughed and swung an arm around her shoulders, the other touched her chest where she had something hanging around her neck. Fingering the pendant that hung on a long braided cord. I felt a growl coming up in irritation at Tobias being so close to her and touching her, but swallowed it down with his next words.
“Why do you have a bear shifter claw around your neck?” he mused, furrowing his brows.
“It’s from the first were-bear I killed. Ripped his head right off.” Lamia deadpanned. Her face a mask of innocence. Tobias dropped his hand and arm, taking a step back and giving me a look like ‘is she serious?’
I had seen the scars on her leg, and knew she wasn’t joking. Tobias, however, wasn’t sure and I wasn’t about to correct him. She wasn’t wearing the necklace last night, but I knew from our conversation it had been given to her by her friend. A reminder of her strength and how she had saved his life. I internally g*****d at the thought of how many males I would have to fight off her and how many I would have to deal with from her past.
She was young, almost eight years younger than me, but she was so smart and feisty and it amazed me how she was able to take everything in her stride, especially after learning everything she had been through. She had a look of innocence, but she was far from it.
My little wolf was strong. I didn’t deserve her. She was too good.

Eventually, we made it back to the Clan Mansion; navigating the snow-covered ground was easier this time, one because it was daytime and two because there was no blizzard. Instead, the sky was a beautiful blue and clear.
Xander, Abner and the Delta were waiting for us when we got back, lunch had been prepared and everyone was in the kitchen.
Lamia, Tobias and I recounted the events that occurred and told them of the creatures we had officially named ‘Crawlers’.
“I need to get back to New Moon (Royal Wolf pack), Oliver was Silas’ right-hand man and just as dirty and nasty as him. If he is involved, then I think we can assume something big is being planned.”
The Delta, looked at his daughter with love, pity and shame reflected over his features. “They got the drop on us once; we can’t let it happen again. I won’t let them take my daughter again.” He looked directly at me when he said this and I couldn’t help the growl.
My fists clenched tightly and my jaw was clamped. “No one will touch my mate. She is MINE”. The jealousy flared and my words came out hot and gritted. Just the thought of someone laying their f*****g hands on her had my b***d boiling.
“I think we need to start making other kingdoms aware of what is going on and I need to inform the high council.” With a look of thought, Abner addressed the room. His pale blue eyes cast a gaze across each one of them and then landed on me. “King, I think it’s about time we went to see Odeia.”
“There’s too much shit to cover and not enough time. We don’t know where they are going to attack next or how many of those things they have.” I g*****d in frustration.
“I need to get you back to the Royal pack, and I need to go back to MacTire” Lamia pointed to her father and then to herself. Standing up, she began pacing the room; I could hear the cogs in her head turn as she began strategizing. “We need to divide and conquer, otherwise this could take weeks. Its four days to MacTire from here, and what? About the same to the Palace? Maybe 3 days?” She rubbed her eyes, sighing “That’s a whole week wasted in just travelling.”
I saw Xander crack a huge smile and look at me, his brown eyes lighting up with mischief and he was bouncing on the balls of his feet as he stood at the end of the counter. “Birdie” he said, and Tobias grumbled under his breath.
I cocked an eyebrow, huh, I forgot about ‘Birdie’. That could solve a lot of problems, because going to see Odeia could take a week or two by foot, depending on the terrain and with the winter snow, things could be more difficult. Even in our ‘were’ form, navigating the mountains and replaceing their village would be hard. It wasn’t like there was a road to walk down or drive. They were literally smack bang in a secluded part of the territory, hidden deep within the mountains.
“ OK, new plan.” I clapped my hands together and stood up, catching and bringing Lamia into my arms as she passed by, stopping her from her excessive pacing.
I held her back against my chest tightly and stooped my head to rest it on her shoulder. “We will go to Lonely City. From there your dad and Tobias can go to the Wolf Kingdom. You, Xander and I will go to see Odeia. Then, we can go wherever you want, to the royal pack or back to MacTire. Either way, where you go I go. “
My words were final. We would go to Odeia by ‘Birdie’, then from there wherever she needed to go.
“Abner, I trust you will inform the high council and you can handle things here?”
“Yes King, leave you captains and warriors with me and we can handle things here until you or Tobias return. “ He nodded. I immediately linked my two top Captains asking them to meet me in my office so I could brief them and leave them with instructions.
With both Tobias and Xander out of the Clan, I was glad I could trust Abner in our absence and knew he would act accordingly on our behalf.

Lamia
On the way to Lonely City, we both made phone calls. We were in a car on our own and my father, Xander and Tobias were in the car behind us.
The first person I called was Hunji. I felt bad that I had already left MacTire in his hands for a month and was now going to be gone from my Kingdom even longer, longer than I wanted to be and it meant more time away from Petra.
“How is Petra, Hunji?” I asked him as he finished giving me an update on the Kingdom and businesses and packs under our control.
Hunji let out a light chuckle. I was taken back at first because that man hardly ever smiled, he was always all business and so serious. But since Petra has come into our lives, I have seen the softer side of him. “I’m pretty sure she hasn’t even noticed, she has Travis wrapped around her tiny fingers and Mrs. Brown has been keeping her busy.”
“That’s good, keeps Travis busy too. Goddess knows he needs the distraction.” I hesitated with my question, knowing Mathias was listening, I squirmed in my seat a little. “Has… has he been OK? You know at night?”
“Nothing for you to worry about, my Queen. He has… managed to keep himself occupied.” I had to laugh at Hunji, the way he skirted around telling me that Travis had taken another woman to bed. I actually felt a wave of relief pass through me. Travis and I had had some good times in between the sheets and, for me, that’s all it was. I had worried that it had become more for him, but at hearing Hunji’s words, my lips curved up into a smile.
“Good for him, now I will let you know when we are on our way home, it shouldn’t be any more than…” I look at Mathias, who holds up two fingers, “…Two weeks, at the very most. I plan on stopping by Golden Circle before coming back to MacTire.”
Hunji and I talked for a few minutes longer and when business had been discussed we hung up. I debated on telling him about Mathias, informing him that I wouldn’t be returning alone. I would tell him later when I knew for sure.
“What is Hunji to you?” Mathias asked, and when I looked over to him, his hands were gripping the steering wheel tight and the vein in his forehead was pulsing.
“Are you jealous, King?” I mocked, and couldn’t contain my wide grin. The thought of him being jealous had my pulse quickening.
His eyes flashed silver, letting me know Arcas was on the surface. Instead of teasing him, because Hunji didn’t deserve that, I told him the truth. “Hunji is like a big brother, a very, very loyal big brother.”
“So he is your loyal dog?” I smacked Mathias’ arm hard for the insult.
“Don’t ever insult my second in command again. If it wasn’t for him, I would probably be dead already, so you should thank him when you meet him.” I lashed making sure he knew, mate or not, I would not have him speaking about or to Hunji in such a fashion.
Luckily for him, that was the point in time we had just pulled up outside of a magnificent looking building.
It was a few hours later when we arrived back in Lonely City. This time I was in a different part of the city. A richer part, where the buildings reached up to the sky, like they were trying to k**s the clouds. The part of the city I was in before was dark, dreary, and oozing with danger. This side of the city was different, the stench of sin still permeated the air, but it was coupled with the smell of money and greed.
Our cars pulled up outside the tallest building and when I exited, I looked up and strained to see the top of the towering structure. It’s glassy outer shell reflected the late afternoon sun. and The sign above the arch leading into the building read ‘King Casino’. This was Mathias hotel and casino.
His empire.
“Come” he said, tossing the keys to the valet, wrapping his arm around my shoulders and tucking me into his side. “Your father has a suite on the floor below us.” He added as if reading my mind.
The foyer was extravagant, with black and grey marbled floors and pillars and chandeliers hanging from the overly high ceiling. The check in counter was the same color as the floor, but broken up by deep rich wood accents. It was such a contrast to his home, so modern and so classy.
“King,” A lady with deep brown hair, and green eyes, wearing the brightest shade of red lipstick greeted Mathias.
A blush crept up onto her face as she regarded him, her tongue poking out to swipe at her bottom l*p as she did. A striking woman, tall, with a black skirt that hugged her h**s and came mid-thigh, white blouse and matching jacket. Her heels told me she wasn’t quite as tall as she appeared. “We have the two suites you requested to be ready and your floor is ready.” She cast a quick glance at me, eying me up and down and cocking her eyebrows at my attire. I guess my black pants and vest suit wasn’t fancy enough for her or she had an aversion to the two sheathed swords attached to my back. I just smiled, not even caring what she thought of me.
“Thank you Scarlet, please send my personal shoppers up, my guests will be needing new clothes.” He threw over his shoulder as he led me to a private elevator.
I took my phone out and snagged a picture of the foyer before the elevator doors opened and Mathias ushered me in. I sent the photo to Tawny with a caption ‘21st birthday bash before I am queen?’ Another person I needed to talk to. I was dying to replace out what her grandfather wanted and how her trip was going. Hopefully well.
Mathias’ suite was actually a penthouse that took up half of the whole top floor.
Floor to ceiling windows stood between us and the outside world. And the décor was much the same as downstairs, modern and furnished contemporarily. In dark colors. The sitting room was to the left with brown leather chairs and a long beige couch opposite it. Behind the couch sat a table that separated the kitchen, also decorated in black and white marble with a counter and breakfast bar. To left of the kitchen was a bar area and to the right was a hallway that I assumed led to a bedroom or bedrooms.
I felt Mathias’ arms snake around my waist as he came up behind me. Nuzzling his nose into my hair. The elevator dinged and an older lady, a were-bear, stepped out and greeted him, offering me a small smile. Mathias let go of me and turned to the woman.
“Ginny, this is Lamia, she will need a dress for tonight and some cold weather clothes for tomorrow. Three sets. We are heading to Mount Xenia.”
“Of course your highness” she bowed and came to stand next to me. Her graying hair perfectly in place. She smiled “I just need a few measurements, Alpha.” And without notice, she began measuring me and holding my arms up. After a few seconds, she announced she had what she needed, bowed to Mathias and left.
“Come see where the magic happens little wolf.” He chuckled, taking me by the elbow and leading me down the hallway to the last door at the end.
“Magic huh?” I furrowed my eyebrows, the place was immaculately clean but I could smell at least 4 different female scents and not just their perfume. It was mixed with his and Tobias’s. “And what kind of magic did you and Tobias get up to with at least four women? And quite recently too.”
If only I could have captured his reaction on camera, it was to die for. His steely grey eyes opened wide and his jaw slacked. He ran a hand through his short black hair and shoved the other in his pockets, looking as uncomfortable as f**k, shuffling his feet.
He opened and closed his mouth like a fish out of water; he was at a loss for words as he searched for a way to explain.
I laughed and threw my head back. “When the tides are turned King, don’t you dare act all possessive and jealous.” I warned him.
I couldn’t judge, even if the thought of him with other women infuriated my wolf. As long as I was the only woman in his life from now on. But the scents that were still tickling my nose meant they had had their fun after he had met me, while I was locked in his cells.
Inanna growled deep within, not liking the thought either. But I reminded her that we had told him we were going to reject him on the full moon.
I internally scoffed at myself, because rejecting him wasn’t even an option now. We were too connected and we hadn’t even finished the process of mating and marking.
