The Deserted Rich Beauty (Nicole and eric) -
Chapter 2032 Serve You Right
Nicole made a fuss until her dress was slightly wrinkled.
Other guests saw this scene and knew that Clayton and Nicole had an extremely deep and sweet relationship.
Finally, Clayton stopped teasing Nicole when he saw that she was getting anxious.
He lowered his head, leaned forward, and pulled her body close to him.
The music played.
Coincidentally, they were right on the dance floor.
It was easiest to appease Nicole with a gentle kiss.
Clayton lingered on her lips reluctantly, and his footsteps moved gently with the music. The soothing classical music rang in his ears.
When everyone saw the couple, they smiled shyly, but no one stopped to watch. Everyone dragged their partners to the dance floor one after another.
Half of the song was over when Clayton raised his head slightly to look at the woman's rosy lips, which were so charming and seductive that he wanted to bite them.
His throat moved, and his eyes darkened.
"Forget it, I'll spare you this time."
Nicole did not know if he was referring to what she said earlier or something else.
She gasped softly. When she saw so many people around her, her face flushed in an instant.
Nicole was so immersed in the kiss just now that she did not notice all these people.
She bit her lower lip, pulled Clayton's arm, and walked out.
Nicole was still not so thick-skinned to make out in public.
Clayton loosened his collar and followed her with a smile that reached his eyes.
They went to a place with few people, and Nicole breathed a sigh of relief.
"Next time, you have to pay attention to the occasion."
Clayton raised his eyebrows. He no longer looked angry.
"We're legally married, so what are you
afraid of?"
Nicole looked at Clayton's innocent face and was speechless for a while.
She took a deep breath.
"Forget it. I'll go check out the auction items."
Actually, Nicole already knew what items were on auction before she got here.
Nicole was mainly interested in jewelry and was never interested in antiques.
However, Clayton would just buy anything that looked pleasing to the eye, as always.
Anyway, these antiques' value would only increase as gifts or as collector's items.
This was what Nicole particularly admired about Clayton.
Clayton smiled followed her. Roland hurried over and said, "Mr. Sloan, Mr. Chapel is leaving soon. Can you spare a few minutes?" Clayton was stunned.
Nicole smiled, let go of Clayton, and patted his shoulder with understanding.
"Go ahead. Earn big bucks!"
Clayton laughed helplessly and lowered his head to kiss the back of her hand.
"Don't go too far by yourself. I'll be right back."
He stood up straight and regained his usual gentlemanly poise.
Just as Nicole was about to turn and leave, Clayton grabbed her hand.
He frowned and said in a low voice, "You're so glad to leave me? Why don't you come with me?"
Nicole was silent.
She smiled and looked at him. Her eyes reflected the bright lights in the hall.
"I can't bear to part with you, and I want to be with you every minute, but your business is important, so go ahead. I'll watch you leave!"
Nicole's sweet talk instantly made Clayton feel satisfied and comfortable as he left.
Roland stood on the side and thought, 'Why do I have to see this...?'
As soon as Clayton left, Nicole's smile faded. She looked at Roland.
"Why are you still standing there? Go on!"
Roland finally came to his senses and quickly caught up with Clayton's pace.
He did not expect that a successful person like Clayton would be even more clingy now that he was married than when he was dating Nicole.
Did they not have a cooling-off period?
Clayton walked over to Mr. Chapel. He was not the only one there. Coincidentally, several acquaintances in the business world, including Eric Ferguson, were also there. Mr. Chapel did not stay in Mediania very often. This time, it was also a last-minute stopover. He was going to fly off in a few hours.
He smiled and stretched out his hand to shake hands with Clayton.
"Mr. Sloan, it's even harder to meet you ever since you settled down in Mediania!"
Clayton smiled and raised his eyebrows.
"It's my fault. My wife is quite clingy since she's still young. She just insisted that I accompany her a little longer earlier.
Otherwise, she'd get angry. After all, I couldn't just leave her like that. I rushed over after finally appeasing her. Going abroad on a business trip is even harder..." Mr. Chapel looked at Clayton and laughed out loud.
"Serve you right!"
Clayton loosened his collar. He did not clean up the corner of his mouth that was bitten by Nicole during their kiss earlier, so he looked a little disheveled. He smiled playfully, and everyone smiled tacitly.
Only Eric, who was standing there, had a dark and glum expression on his face. He seemed to be shrouded in gloom and he was exuding a cold vibe. Roland stood there with a frown as he thought, 'When did Clayton get so good at
twisting the facts?'
Nicole simply turned around to look for Luke Youngblood.
Although Luke was rejected by Eric, he seemed to have a good time chatting with other people.
Luke did not feel embarrassed or depressed. Instead, he looked casual and natural like he was part of the gentry.
Nicole nodded with satisfaction.
Luke did not take such a minor blow to heart.
It meant that Nicole did not trust the wrong person.
Nicole was really afraid that Luke would give up, then her money would be lost.
Luke was chatting with several bosses, and those people seemed to be drawn to Luke as they listened very seriously.
Nicole walked over and interrupted them with a smile.
"Am I bothering you guys?"
Several people smiled.
"Of course not, Ms. Stanton. This is Mr.
Youngblood, a talented young man with a bright future..."
Luke smiled humbly and did not take this compliment to heart.
Nicole raised her eyebrows.
"Since you guys think so highly of Mr.
Youngblood, remember to contact him if there's an opportunity for collaboration. Mr. Youngblood, do you have a business card?"
Luke only noticed that he had missed the most crucial step after having said so much.
He quickly took out his business card and handed it to them.
The several bosses looked at each other, took over Luke's business card, and asked Nicole hesitantly, "Ms. Stanton, you know Mr. Youngblood?" Nicole was obviously introducing Luke to her network earlier.
She smiled and said, "Of course! I invested in Mr. Youngblood's company. We certainly need your support in the future."
The bosses nodded with understanding and quickly took out their business card, handing it to Luke.
If Nicole was not backing Luke, they would
not have taken out their business cards so easily.
After saying a few words, Nicole and Luke left.
Luke breathed a sigh of relief and was clearly not as tense as before.
Nicole smiled. "I thought you weren't nervous!"
Luke was helpless. "I wouldn't be nervous if I came here for fun. Didn't I come here with a purpose?"
There was nothing wrong with his answer.
Nicole asked, "So, any gains?"
Luke looked at her solemnly.
"I want to give up on the Hannover Project and completely specialize in one field."
Nicole frowned. "You're giving up so easily?"
Although Nicole also felt that Eric would not give Luke a piece of the pie, Luke gave up too easily.
Luke pursed his lips. His face was slightly grim.
"Ms. Stanton, it's time to cut our losses, Mr. Ferguson won't share the project, nor will he watch as we grow bigger and threaten the interests of J&L Corporation. So, why bother doing something futile?"
