The Divorced Heiress’s Revenge -
Chapter 2428
Chapter 2428
When Drew received the news, he had just returned to the city where his organization was based. He did not even report to work yet.
Instead, he caught the earliest red-eye flight back to Savrow.
The moment he stepped out of the airport terminal, a row of black luxury sedans awaited him at the entrance.
Justin and Ian stood in front of the lead car, having waited for some time. The cold, biting wind of the winter night blew by, tousling their hair.
Their gazes locked and the oppressive atmosphere was thick with hostility.
Drew had a crazed, murderous look on his face.
"Drew, get in. We need to talk," Justin said in a low voice, his gaze steady and intense.
Drew's once clear and sharp eyes were now bloodshot. "I'm going to replace my wife."
"That's exactly why I'm here. Get in. Let's talk," Justin turned, his voice carrying an unshakable weight. "You won't replace her by rushing in blindly. You know that, right?"
Drew clenched his teeth so hard his gums bled, struggling to contain the fury burning in his chest. Reluctantly, he followed Justin into the car.
The interior was dim and oppressively silent.
Yvonne might not have been directly connected to Justin, but the memory of the girl who had once fought beside them, coupled with the image of Bella's tear-streaked face, left a heavy weight on his heart.
"Bella and I went to the site where Yvonne disappeared and found traces of blood."
Before Justin could finish, Drew erupted in fury, slamming his fists against the car window.
His whole body trembled uncontrollably, veins bulging on his forehead as sweat glistened and rolled down his temple.
"Drew, calm down," Justin said firmly, gripping Drew's swollen and bloodied fists.
"Did you replace out who did it?" Drew's voice was hoarse, his blood boiling as though it might burst from his veins.
Justin hesitated briefly-only a few seconds, but it felt excruciatingly long.
"Yvonne discovered a critical piece of evidence at Pivotage. They were documents regarding that horrifying human drug experiment in Savrow. When she left the place, she was ambushed in the mountains.
"Bella and I found her phone at the site. Since Yvonne had worked near Christopher and indirectly interacted with Grant and Clarice, we suspect that those who captured her are likely connected to Grant."
The car's heater was on full blast, yet the atmosphere inside felt as frigid as the depths of winter. Invisible waves of tension roiled in the shadows.
"I'll kill them both of them." Drew turned his bloodshot eyes toward Justin, his voice like a blade scraping through stone. "Do you have a problem with that?"
"No." Justin met his gaze directly, enunciating each word. "But I'll stop you."
"Bullshit!" Drew snarled, jerking his hand away violently. "Justin, are you practicing your useless rhetoric on me? Do you think I'm joking? My wife is missing!
"If it were Bella, would you be able to sit here, acting so calm and detached?!"
Justin's expression was as cold and still as a frozen lake, his emotions unreadable.
Drew's bitter laughter was tinged with anguish. "I'm such an idiot. I forgot you don't love her anymore. To you, Bella's just a pebble tossed into the ocean, incapable of stirring even the slightest ripple now."
Pain filled Drew's eyes as he sneered, his lips twisting into a mocking smile. "You don't understand love anymore. So, how could you possibly understand how I feel?"
Justin's throat bobbed, his Adam's apple quivering as he struggled to speak. His voice came out raspy, like burning embers.
"I'm not stopping you because Grant is my brother or because I don't care about your pain. But if I let you go after him, your hands will be stained with blood. From that moment on, you'll be burdened by a life taken-a fugitive forever, living a life on the run."
He continued, "I remember you once told me that you dreamed of a peaceful life, and that Yvonne wanted to live in the light."
'Live in the light.' Drew's bloodshot eyes widened slightly before he lowered his gaze, his heart torn apart by an overwhelming tangle of emotions.
"You can ignore everything else, but you can't ignore the person you love the most," Justin said, his voice filled with a rare, unspoken pain.
"What if Yvonne-"
