Chapter 463 I Shall Accompany You

As Kieran’s fingers froze over the keyboard, he found himself glancing subconsciously at the time onthe bottom right corner of his computer screen.

He quickly did the calculation in his head. He had only an hour and a half left before the end of the day,yet a pile of paperwork still awaited him. It would take him at least fifteen minutes. to make a cup ofcoffee.

Inez reminded him, “Mr. Harris, you have already wasted two minutes in a daze.”“

Startled into action, Kieran rose from his desk and headed toward the pantry to prepare the coffee.

A few employees were already there, idling away their break over a cup of coffee.

As soon as Kieran stepped in, all eyes turned toward him like magnets as they stared fixedly at hissternly handsome face.

A quiet flurry of whispers followed.

The head of the sales department, Dora Torres, was visibly starstruck. “Is this really Ms. Mossey’s newsecretary? Such a good-looking man with a fine stature and excellent. demeanor is almost irresistible.”

Other female employees chimed in enthusiastically, “Pursue him, then. Rumor has it he’s single. Oncehe’s taken, there won’t be another chance like this!”

“He applied for a secretarial position here, so he’s probably not wealthy. I think you should think thisthrough,” one woman said.

Unfazed, Dora retorted, “What’s there to be afraid of? I have money. I can support him! All he needs todo is to be tall, handsome, and physically fit!”

The other women clicked their tongues and playfully pushed Dora over. “What are you waiting for? Goget him!”

Dora stumbled forward and fell toward Kieran, who was engrossed in making coffee.

Although he was focused on brewing the coffee, he had heard every word they said.

Swiftly, he sidestepped as Dora lunged at him. Her nose made a harsh collision with the coffeemachine, narrowly avoiding a bloody mess.

Throughout the whole incident, Kieran maintained his stoic demeanor, never once sparing the woman asideways glance. He continued to stir his freshly brewed coffee.

Dora rubbed her throbbing nose awkwardly, for Kieran had ignored her completely.

She made a hasty retreat to her friends’ side.

However, her friends passionately signaled for Dora not to be afraid and pursue the man.

It is always easier for a woman to pursue a man than vice versa! Go get him, Dora!

Dora was at a loss.

In the end, she mustered the courage to approach Kieran again. In a small voice, she asked, “Mr.Harris, are you available this evening? Would you like to have dinner together?”

Kieran was never one to spare a single glance at a woman whom he wasn’t interested in.

Undeterred, Dora circled back in front of Kieran. She twirled her voluminous curls and assumed afriendly and seductive. pose.

“It’s all right if you’re busy tonight, Mr. Harris. Perhaps we could catch a movie over the weekend? Yourfingers look so slender and elegant. Even when you’re making coffee, it’s done with such grace. If youdo play piano with those fingers, I wonder just how many girls will fall for you,” Dora added.

Kieran glanced at his hands.

These hands are not made for music. They’re best suited for holding a scalpel and cutting open humanflesh. If I share this with them, will they think of me as a madman?

Silently, he pondered as he added three sugar sachets to the coffee.

Dora was relentless in her pursuit. She tried to get close to him. “I heard you’re single, Mr. Harris. Wehave many beautiful girls here at Mossey Corporation. Is there anyone who caught your eye? Even if Idon’t have the luck, I could play matchmaker for you.”

Kieran paused momentarily. With an icy voice, he replied, “Yes, there is.”

Dora’s interest was piqued. “Really? Just tell me who you’re interested in, Mr. Harris. I’ll help you gether.”

An image of Inez, deeply concentrated on work, flashed across Kieran’s mind. “I like Ms. Moss-”

Knock, knock!

The sound of a soft knock came from the door of the

pantry.

Everyone turned to the source of the sound, where they found Inez standing

expressionlessly with her gaze sweeping over everyone present in the

pantry.

Everyone, except for Kieran, rose from their seats and bowed slightly at her. “Hello, Ms. Mossey.”

She acknowledged the greetings with a simple hum, then turned toward Dora. “Instead of working hardfor the company during working hours, you took the lead in gossiping in the pantry and discussingpersonal matters. Do you think that’s the right thing to do?”

Dora’s face turned pale. “I’m sorry, Ms. Mossey. I won’t do it again. I’ll return to my desk and focus onwork now!”

Inez narrowed her eyes and snapped, “You’d better.”

“Yes, of course,” Dora said sheepishly.

Everyone scurried back to their desks, and within a few seconds, Kieran was left all alone in front of thecoffee machine.

Inez crossed her arms against her chest, her gaze falling on Kieran naturally. “You’ve been making acup of coffee for quite some time now, Mr. Kieran. I thought you were lost, but it seems that you weretoo engrossed in chatting with the young women and forgot the time.”

“Inez…”

She didn’t want to hear any explanation. With a huff, she turned around to leave.

Kieran quickly finished preparing the coffee and went after her.

“They approached me first, but I didn’t pay them any attention.”

While walking, Inez asked, “Is Dora attractive?”

“Huh?” Kieran was taken aback. “Who are you talking about?”

“I’m talking about the woman who just asked you to watch a movie with her this weekend.”

Kieran tried to recall, only to realize he didn’t remember what she looked like. “I didn’t look at herproperly. I don’t know what she looks like.”

Inez snorted lightly. “You guys seemed to have had a good time chatting, and yet you can’t recall whatshe looks like?”

“Um…” He tried to recall again and replied honestly, “I think… she had straight and long black hair?”

Inez suppressed the urge to laugh and didn’t reply before pushing open the door to her

Kieran placed the cup of coffee on her desk and returned to his own desk opposite her, preparing to getbusy for one final round before it was time to get off work.

From across the room, Inez watched him, her gaze distant. “I have dinner plans this evening. We won’tbe heading in the same direction, so you can stay back at the office. Once your tasks are completed, you can head home.”

“A date?” Kieran was slightly stunned. He instantly turned to meet her gaze. “Will there be manypeople? Men or women?”

“Since when did secretaries get to inquire about their boss’ private matters?”

“As your secretary, it is my duty to ensure your safety. I won’t allow a repeat of what happened last timewith Percy.”

His tone, although carrying the formality of his secretarial role, was imbued with a cold. aloofness, anunyielding force. There was no hint of deference in his words, and it seemed as though he wasn’t opento negotiation on the matter.

Caught off guard, Inez took a moment before answering his question. “It seems that there will be bothmen and women. It’s a business gathering. There might be alcohol involved, but it shouldn’t lead to asituation like last time.”

In a determined tone, Kieran replied, “Since it’s a business gathering at the corporate level, as asecretary, I should be by your side to attend to your needs. Therefore, I shall accompany you.”
