The Game Of Quadruplet Mates -
Chapter 29
My father and I spoke for a very long time. We talked as the sun disappeared and was replaced by the moon in the dark sky. And we continued to talk more through the twinkling of the stars.
I was tucked comfortably on the couch, a blanket covering my legs and my back supported by pillows. With the phone in my hand, my knees pulled up to my chest, I felt incredibly happy listening to my father's stories.
Food was given to me a few times, the girls piling it on the table of my little alcove of books. Ajax at one time came in to eat with me, sitting down beside me on the couch. He never spoke but kept close to me as his eyes focused on a few complicated looking paperwork that he brought from his office.
On the other side of the phone line, I could hear my father eating as well, chewing loudly on a few things and slurping soup as I heard Ajax's men working behind him.
"They're fixing the house." He tells me. "Adding lights so we don't have to use candles anymore. They're also fixing the floors so I can walk on wooden floors instead of just the earth."
I think we could have talked forever.
But it was clear we were both fighting off sleep as the night grew later. I was already using Ajax's lap as a pillow, my body sprawled across the couch. He was mindlessly brushing my hair as I spoke with my father.
Ajax never rushed us despite the late hour and even when he heard me yawning, he merely smiled from his paperwork and continued to brush my hair with his hand. But then, when it was really late and my eyes were closing and my replies took longer to say, Ajax gently took the phone from my hand.
"June is falling asleep." He told my father, though I could not hear if my father said anything back. "I'll tell her to call you back tomorrow."
The next thing I remember is being in Ajax's arms in bed, his fingers gingerly tracing my skin. I felt him press a kiss on my shoulder before pulling me closer to him. I cannot read what he's thinking but I had a very good idea. He was happy too.
When I opened my eyes again, it was a new day and I felt like a truck ran over my legs. I groaned, rolling to my side to replace that Ajax had already left for the day. If I listen hard enough, I can hear him moving around in his office. He's crumpling papers, moving around pieces on his large map spread across his table.
"Make sure to have food ready when June wakes up." I heard him say to someone. "She'll call her father as soon as she gets out of bed, so have the food sent to her library. And she might want something to relax her muscles. She trained hard yesterday." "Of course, Alpha." It was one of the girls working in the house. "We'll have the food ready for her."
I listened to her leave before creeping out of our bedroom and into the hallway that led to his office. His door was open but unlike yesterday, he was sitting down, his eyes focused on the map.
There was a giant circle he was focused on and upon closer inspection I realized as I stared at it that it was our farm land.
"Are they in trouble?" I asked, stepping into his office.
He looks up, his amber eyes softening at the sight of me, the lines on his serious face disappearing. "No. They're safe. How are your legs?"
"What legs?" I teased, stretching them out and wincing when the action aches.
He chuckles lowly, the sound of it pleasing to the ears. "You're a stubborn one, June."
I leaned against the door, feeling sheepish. "Thank you for letting my dad and I talk."
Ajax reaches out for me like he usually does. "You may talk as long as you want. I don't want you worrying about anything."
As always, I let him take me into his lap, his arms circling around me. "Ajax,"
He presses a possessive kiss on my cheek. "Yes, my little mate?"
"I was wondering if we could visit soon. My old pack." I have been thinking of it since my father brought it up yesterday. Visiting sounded really good because I did want to go there and see everyone, Larissa and my father in particular. Maybe to give thanks to my old Alpha who always shouldered the problems for us too. And try to reconcile with my oldest friend... Pete.
If Ajax is surprised by this request, he doesn't show it. "Whatever you want, June. I told you. Simply ask and you will have it."
My cheeks flushed. I wasn't expecting how easy it would be to ask him.
Women that are chosen by someone from a different pack usually never get to see their family again. They are forced into their new lives without any contact with their family, yet here I was, allowed to speak to my father however long I wanted, allowed to visit him and any of my old friends.
Ajax didn't need to do this. He has already done more than enough, more than he's obligated to. But here he was giving more each time. He always anticipates what I want and always makes it a priority.
What did I ever do to deserve someone like Ajax?
He tenderly, pulls me close until I'm pressed against his chest. "Jeremy has already arranged the trip for us. We can leave for your fathers' anytime you want. We can even do it tonight."
My eyes widened in surprise. "That soon?"
"I can be very efficient." He teased, leaning down until he's on my neck. "I like to provide for my little mate. Is that wrong?"
"N-No. I guess... I guess I'm just grateful." I told him, my eyes looking down at my hands. "You know how I wasn't expecting to be chosen in the Assembly, much less have a mate that treats me so well. So being with you, this way, it's more than I ever thought my life would be. I was prepared to come out of the Assembly unmated, working myself to d e a t h once back on the farm lands."
Ajax stared at me for a long time, his eyes piercing into my soul before pressing a kiss on my lips. "You deserve the world, June. Know that life is behind you and I'm here to give you the best life I can offer. I would do everything in my power, absolutely everything, to make sure you are taken care of. For the rest of your life."
The weight of his words sent a shiver down my spine and I could only stare at him in wonder.
It was all surreal.
He was suureal.
I held onto him tight, scared that this was all a dream that would be cruelly taken from me.
"I'm not going anywhere, June." He whispers into my ear, making me shiver. "I'm never leaving you."
His words shot deep, hitting an insecurity, a trauma that I have tried my hardest to put behind me and soothing it without even knowing.
He smiles as if he knows what he's doing.
But before I could wrap my head around it, I felt him hug me tighter in emphasis.
"So let's get you to your old pack. I'll have the trip ready by tonight." He presses another loving kiss on my cheek. "In the meantime..."
I suddenly found myself being scooped up and placed on his desk full of papers, amongst maps and other notes, my back covering his morning work. He was on his feet then, pressing me backward, his arms on either side of my body beneath him. Pens and papers and forgotten cups skitter across the table.
"Get into position." He growled low, his sharp teeth out and eyes black as I could see his wolf surfacing.
I was breathing hard, electric shocks shooting up and down my spine. "W...what?"
"Spread your legs for me." Ajax whispered darkly, his knees parting my legs while he pushed his nose into my neck- to my mark which shakes my entire being. "Now take off your clothes. You don't need them."
I gasped, feeling hot all over as I looked down at the map I was perched on. "I'm sitting on someone's land."
He grinned wickedly. "You should sit on me instead."
Pushed down on my back, Ajax leans over me, capturing my lips in a deep passionate kiss that makes my head swim. His kiss was like an answer to a question that I didn't know I was asking, but every motion was like a new day, an answered prayer as I felt his tongue sweep my lips.
My heart felt so full, too happy to express myself with words, so I answered him back with actions, kissing him with equal vigor, trying to show him in this kiss what he meant to me.
He seemed to understand as his darkened eyes were like liquid heat, burning me as he devoured me. I felt rejuvenated, my blood pumping and my heart fluttering, ready to be ravaged by this man they called a monster.
For he is a monster, just a different one when he's with me, especially when he's hovering over me with his hips grinding against my parted legs.
Ajax looked like he was ready to have his way with me, leaving me in tatters to writhe over and over until I was completely spent.
And he does exactly this, eating me for breakfast, eating me like it was his first and only meal for days and I was a whimpering mess under him. Again and again and again.
And again.
The force he uses is satisfyingly hard, making the table rattle, the papers flying everywhere. My mewling voice was raw as I whispered his name over and over.
It took three hours to peel ourselves off of each other and after we came down from the high, falling from the clouds that we were floating in, Ajax carried me to our bedroom, walking past the bed and towards the bathroom where he placed me down in the bathtub.
Time seemed to slow as Ajax gently removed the remaining clothes I was wearing, the hot water running and filling the bathtub. He joins me, removing his own clothes before pulling me into his lap. For awhile, all we did was watch as the water filled to the top, all the while Ajax placing feather light kisses on my bare shoulders.
In an action so tender, Ajax starts lathering me with soap, his hands stroking down my skin and touching every part of me. It wasn't passionate and heat filled like in his office, this was slow and adoring, memorizing every inch of me. After exploring every part of me, he shampoos my hair, his strong hands gently brushing through my thick locks.
He trails kisses down my neck, his hand tight around me like he was afraid I would disappear.
And I wonder then if I wasn't the only one that was in awe of all of this.
Of us.
But we stayed in that bathtub, in that embrace like it was our last, savoring the feel of each other.
Our grumbling stomachs were what took us out of the bath and back to our bedroom, putting on clothes. There was a silly smile on both our lips as we watched each other change and when we left our room for my little library where the food is, Ajax brings his papers with him while holding my hand in his free one.
I was in a trance as I saw our reflection in a window; Ajax, tall and frightening, taking his small little mate towards her new favorite room. We looked happy, we looked made for each other...
Mates.
Not destined.
Chosen.
Wanted,
He sets his paperwork down, pulling me to his lap as we fed each other. With one arm around me, the other reading even more of his work, I dial my father's number and when he answers, I don't wait for him to say hello. "I'm coming to visit!"
