Nash's sudden bluntness was certainly a new side to him for Frank and Kat.

"Dad, what...?" Kat murmured.

"I know. I shouldn't have kept it from you," Nash said, lovingly patting Kat's head and sighing. "Your mom was once a martial elite. She was almost dead after being blindsided by some vile people, but I chanced upon her and saved her.

"After that, she chose to bury her past, and we had you... but somehow, her old enemies found her. She entrusted you to me before leaving, and they killed her. That's why I've tried my best to keep my head down-it's all for your sake."

Sighing, he waved at Mel for her to leave. "You can go now. It's not like I won't give you lo's last heirloom-I just can't. I won't let you have it even if you tried to steal it... No, even if you killed me."

Mel's eyes widened and she wheezed, pacing around his bed and glaring at her as she snapped, "Just look at yourself, Nash! You're a loser without money, slaving yourself for others! You can't even stand up for yourself after getting beaten up. Why bother with anything?! Just give me lo's heirloom! Once you do, we don't owe each other anything! If you refuse, I'll have to take it from you!"

At her outburst, several men in black strode into the ward.

Kat sensed danger right then and snapped at Mel, "What do you think you're doing?!"

"What I'm doing?!" Mel growled icily. "Just look at your dad. How did my sister replace herself some loser like him?! It's so embarrassing... Hell, I'm embarrassed for her! And look how far you've fallen, letting in some strange people to stay at your home for money! The way I see it, there's no point letting you keep my sister's heirloom. Give it to us, and my son can use it to bribe his bosses-lo's money got him his CEO position, and what you have now might be worth more. The Soranos might be so pleased that they'd even give him a couple more companies to manage!"

"Quit wasting your time with them, Mom!" Matis strode up, his expression cold. "If they refuse us, we have no reason to play nice!"

Turning to his bodyguards, he barked, "Go tie up that girl. Let's see if that geezer will give up now!"

"Yes! Go on, do it!" Mel readily nodded.

Nash actually teared up as he looked on and shook his head in disappointment... to think that this would still happen after he compromised so many times! "What do you think lo would feel if she sees what you're doing now?" he asked.

Mel simply bellowed, "Don't bother mentioning her. She's dead!"

Seeing that there was no turning back, Nash strained himself to turn to Frank with a pleading look. "I'm sorry, Mr. Lawrence... But I have to ask for your help again."

"Yeah." Frank nodded.

Even as a bystander, he understood everything now.

Nash's late wife was a martial artist who left a fortune for her family, and Frank also realized that she had cast the seal on Kat's meridian nexus.

After all, lo Gunnar did not want Kat to become a martial artist in her footsteps, despite Kat's born talent.

And then there was Mel, lo's sister.
