The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage by Chu -
Chapter 1089
After a moment of silence, Frank said, "Discussing it over the phone is a little lacking in sincerity. Why don't we speak face to face?"
"Sure," Gene answered briskly, despite having to wait for that response.
He was thoughtful after hanging up-the man sounded young, but he was very confident.
"Heh..." He chuckled self-deprecatingly.
He had actually contracted the illness for over a year, even though he had kept it a well-guarded secret.
At first, he only felt tired and thought his lover was just being cold, but soon felt his body wither.
Then, even walking started to become taxing-and now, he could not walk unassisted, as the world would spin around him and his muscles would hurt terribly.
Gene had certainly tried all he could, visiting every hospital and consulting every renowned doctor across Draconia.
He also tried all kinds of medical equipment and medicine, but nothing worked-none of the doctors could give him a proper diagnosis, let alone help.
Though Gene grew increasingly discouraged, he still did not lack money as the richest man of the East Coast.
He tried his luck abroad, but the results were the same.
It was a mark of dishonor for any doctor to fail in diagnosing their patients. And since Gene was not an average Joe, none of them tried to throw him shoddy diagnoses, or things would end badly for them if they were caught.
Hence, after a year of being tormented by his illness, Gene came to the despairing conclusion that no one could cure him or diagnose him, to be precise.
Everything from his organs, blood, and brain were all normal, but he could feel himself growing weaker by the day.
As such, he began to seek other unorthodox methods of healing, including shamanism.
That was when even the fearless snake oil salesmen showed up, with one suggesting that his deceptional ways as a businessman required penance, by buying a ton of land and building fonts of cleansing. Gene was certainly desperate and started to buy land everywhere on the East Coast just to try it out.
After all, his life was at stake.
In fact, he did not care if he was losing money, even spending billions to buy the five land lots in Zamri.
Naturally, his efforts went unimpeded-even if Will had tried his best to help Frank stop his tender, he was nothing more than a government official reviewing tenders. The final decision was not up to him at all. As such, all five land lots fell to Gene's possession.
Ding dong.
The doorbell of the presidential suite jingled, and Gene coughed and rasped at the direction of the door, "Rory... Please answer the door..."
"Okay," a cool feminine voice spoke.
The lady in a red dress soon strode up and opened the door, and she froze when she saw who was at the door. "You're... huh?!"
