When Helen returned to Lanecorp, she found Cindy packing her things and ready to leave, but not before she yapped at every employee nearby.

"Why don't you take a guess what happened after my cousin listened to her dear husband and went to Drenam Limited? He said that Gene Pearce would yield the five land lots he claimed through the bid, but what happened? The man's valet didn't even know about it! Oh, it was such a slap in the face when we got there!

"Tut, tut... You should have seen Helen and Frank's faces... Talk about a long face! Oh, it's killing me! Think about it-Gene Pearce is the richest man on the east coast! Why would he even listen to Frank? Who does he think he is?"

"Well I'm going now." She laughed as she packed all her belongings and started to leave. "You can all stay here while Helen and her ex-husband run your company to the ground!"

Nonetheless, she ran headlong into Helen, who heard everywhere she said.

She remained impassive and silent, though her eyes were fixed on Cindy's face.

At the same time, every employee around them was sneaking peeks in their direction.

Cindy's conscience gnawed at her, but she puffed her chest while snapping, "W-What are you looking at? I was telling the truth! You didn't listen to me, and Lanecorp will suffer because of you!" "Cindy..." Helen slowly walked up to Cindy, holding out a hand to touch her face.

"W-What are you doing?" Cindy felt uncomfortable right then, since Helen didn't look angry.

"I was just going to ask..." Helen began calmly. "What have you ever done for me since you became my secretary?"

Cindy snorted right then, exclaiming loudly, "What?! There's so many, like... uh..."

She suddenly froze up awkwardly because she could not even think of one.

At the same time, Helen continued calmly as if it was none of her business. "So there's nothing you've done for me, while you keep messing up-from losing my laptop and abusing company funds to slandering me and Frank."

"So what? I-I'm your cousin!"

"Indeed you are." Helen sighed and smiled as she turned toward the Lanecorp employees around them. "I'm sure you're all not simpletons if you can make it into this company, let alone be beguiled by this wretch's slander. Tell me, how much of Cindy's words can you really believe in?"

Every employee hung their heads as soon as Helen's gaze reached them-they certainly did not want to get involved with the board chairwoman's family dispute or say anything lightly.

Even if they could say anything, they could certainly see that Cindy was a jinx. Not only was she inconsequential to the company, but she would only ever bring them problems.

Helen sighed in turn. "So I'm sure everyone would understand my reasoning for dismissing such an incompetent employee, right? I have every intention to rally Lanecorp and restore it to its former glory, and I' never burden the company with anything—not even family—starting today."

She then turned toward a seething Cindy, clapping her on her shoulder. "You can leave now. Your departure will be the only good thing you've ever done for Lanecorp."

"What..."

Cindy was left watching as Helen returned to her office with her proud stride, her teeth gritting audibly but unable to do a thing.

Still, she soon had an idea.
