Hugh certainly would not give up on a chance to add insult to injury, and he chuckled coolly. "Heh. Never heard anything about that—he's just Vicky Turnbull's sugar baby. Someone like him attending a charity auction of such prestige?"

"If I were you, Frank, I'd be hiding my face and running away instead of standing here and being stubborn. What an embarrassment to my family."

The crowd turned toward Frank at that, laughing in disdain when they noticed that Frank's suit was just barely worth a few grand.

"No way... Someone name-dropped the Turnublls?"

"Didn't you hear what Mr. Turnbull said? He's Vicky Turnbull's sugar baby."

"Tut, tut... No wonder."

Ned was quickly glowering darkly when he heard them and stood in front of Frank as he snapped, "Mr. Lawrence is my friend. Anyone who messes with him, messes with me!"

The laughter subsided a little, but the crowd was soon talking about something else.

"No way! Standing up for a sugar baby?! The rumors about Ned Janko must be true!"

"Shit, the Jankos even made a statement. Guess it's just bullshit."

"Disgusting..."

Ned flushed from frustration when he heard, but just as he was about to snap, Hugh strode up.

"Mr. Janko, I understand that you are different from the rest," he said, deliberately pausing for a moment while letting the others laugh. "But Frank is supposedly our live-in son-in-law. Could it be possible that you are both involved? As for you, Frank... I wonder what Vicky would do to you if I informed her and Uncle Glen."

It was clear that Hugh meant to drive a wedge between Frank and his family, so that they would chase him away or at least start an argument between him and Vicky.

That way, the Turnbulls would not blame him when he avenged Sif Lionheart.

He kept insisting that everything he did was for the sake of the family, while making it look like Frank was embarrassing them.

As such, he would have every reason to do whatever he wanted with Frank-by saying he had to deal with him for constantly embarrassing the Turnbull family.

Even Glen Turnbull could not blame him at that point, while he avenged Sif and earned the Lionhearts' favor.

Talk about killing three birds with one stone.

Naturally, Frank was not aware about such convoluted schemes, though he would not be bothered even if he were aware.

All he knew was that Hugh was an annoying insect buzzing around his ears he would not mind letting it slide a couple of times, but more than that meant death.

But considering that this was Gene's turf and it was a charity auction to celebrate his recovery, Frank ultimately restrained his temper.

Studying Hugh from head to toe, he sneered as he suddenly had an idea. "You really care a lot about the private lives of others, Mr. Turnbull, though I think you should be more worried about yourself. After all, you might already have caught what your lady has."
