Chet turned toward his brother Edon right then. "Don't just stand there! Go, bring in Mr. Loggins' mentor!"

"But who is he?!" Edon was equally bewildered, still standing by the doorway. "How am I supposed to know when he never mentioned his name?"

Still, Edon knew that things would be terrible for the family if Abel died in Favoni House.

That was when Lubor seized the moment and said, "Chet, at this point, you should just give up the chief of the Martial Alliance. That way, I can ask the elder of Hundred Bane Sect to bring the cure... or it would really be too late!" "Alright... alright!" Chet exclaimed in panic.

If it was just his son, he could calmly take the loss while rearranging his plans for the family's future appropriately.

Abel, however, was not a part of the bargain-if he died, it was over for the Favonis!

"Hehe... Don't worry, brother. As long as I'm here, Abel Loggins and my dear nephew will be safe."

Lubor grinned gleefully right then.

After all, his plan finally worked, and he was now the new head of the Favoni family!

It was a new chapter for them from here on out!

At the same time, an exasperated Chet told Lubor, "She's in the rear courtyard. You can replace her there."

Lubor was rubbing his palms and laughing in turn, "Don't worry, Chet-I'll take her to Hundred Bane Sect right now, and an elder would be here in under two hours! Both Jaden and Abel Loggins will be safe!"

However, Chet only felt misery as he watched Lubor laugh as he left.

How could he not know what Lubor was scheming?

Not only was his tenure as the head of the Favoni family over, but Hundred Bane Sect now had full leverage against the Favonis.

After all, the Favoni were the ones who gave them the chief of the Martial Alliance, and their doom was just a matter of time.

"Fuck! I knew Lubor had planned this all along!"

Edon cursed, but his eyes soon lit up. "Chet... Why don't we let that brat Frank Lawrence take a shot at this?"

"Shut up!"

Chet was shaking with rage at Edon's suggestion. "Even Abel Loggins can't do a thing! What can that brat do except add to the body count?! We're already caught in a crisis here, and we're supposed to add Zamri's Lanecorp into our list of enemies?!" Seeing that Chet was determined to hand over the chief of the Martial Alliance, Edon sighed and came clean.

After he told Chet about Frank's warning, Edon held his brother's gaze and concluded, "Frank Lawrence really might pull something here. And like he said, we don't have to take responsibility if he messes up. It works for us if he bails us out... and if he doesn't, we have security footage and witnesses to prove this was all on him, not us."

At those words, Chet gradually calmed down.

He glanced at Abel, who was on the floor, unconscious.

Then, he glanced at Jaden, who was still spasming.

Gritting his teeth, he barked, "Fine, it's hopeless anyway! Bring him in and let him try!"

"Alright!" Edon nodded and left, returning with Frank within minutes.

Frank sighed softly when he saw the mess in the room, as Abel was poisoned just as he expected.

He shot Edon an accusing glare-he had warned Edon beforehand, but the moron still refused to warn Abel, allowing Abel to get caught in this mess.
