The Sturgeons seemed to give up on any pretense right then, with Wilk kicking Lauren away, pointing at him and snapping even as the man lay prone on the floor.

"It's all your fault! You refused to die for two years, wasting everyone's time! Would my daughter have to keep suffering if you didn't hang on so stubbornly?! She'd be marrying again, and marrying rich!" "Dad!"

Kali had enough then and sobbed even as she rose to her feet. "This happened to Lauren because of us! Patek would be dead if he didn't donate his kidney! How could you do this to him?!" "What did we do to him?!"

Mrs. Sturgeon leapt up, grabbing Kali and slapping her twice as she screamed, "Did we ever mistreat him?! We had him marry you so that he could donate his kidney! And we paid his family 500 grand! Isn't that enough?! Why should we bother when his own family doesn't care?!

"You, on the other hand, are a wastrel and a traitor! Did you think we don't know?! He survived this long because you sneaked him out to get treatment! Your dad got you your job, and you should be giving us some money in return, but you waste it on that piece of shit! Do you even know what the other families are saying?! You've thoroughly humiliated us!"

Despite the chaos in the room, Lauren still pushed himself to tug on Wilk's trousers, pleading, "Please, it's not Kali's fault! Put the blame on me... I shouldn't have stayed alive..."

"Fuck off! Die as far as you can. Don't jinx our house!"

Wilk kicked Lauren squarely in the face right then, knocking him out.

Turning toward the security guards, he bellowed, "Carry this piece of shit out of here! Dump him in the garbage disposal area far away!"

While two security guards moved up, he pointed at Kat and Frank. "And kill these two wretches! My son will have his vengeance, and no one will ever replace out something so scandalous happened in our house!" "Yes, Mr. Sturgeon!"

The security guards around them nodded, glaring hostilely as they encircled Frank and Kat.

Kat had long since been furious as he looked on.

Even before Frank said a word, he rushed up to Lauren, kicking and punching the two seasoned burly security guards to the floor.

"Try and lay a finger on Lauren! I dare you!" she snarled.

"What?! That brat is a martial artist?!"

All the Sturgeons were stunned, and before they could recover, Frank strode up and bellowed, "Enough!"

He had been watching coolly earlier, but he now understood what was going on between Lauren and the Sturgeons.

It turned out that Lauren marrying into the Sturgeon family was nothing more than a deal between the Sturgeons and Lauren's parents.

Wilk's son Patek had kidney issues, and following a search, he found that Lauren was a suitable donor. That was how the deal came to be, and while it looked like the Sturgeons would take responsibility for the man, only Kali showed pity on him, even after she was forced to marry him.
