"What? Oh, I understand."

Cid quickly patted himself on the chest, assuring Frank that it was as good as done.

Kat was relieved to have the Sunblazers' underboss assurance too.

After Cid escorted them away, he turned toward Kali with an awkward smile. "Shall we go, Ms. Sturgeon?"

"Go? Where to?"

Kali had been peeking at the drawing room from the kitchen, and her soul almost left her when she saw Cid turning his attention to her.

After all, the Sunblazers were killers! Anyone who fell to his hand would never cheat death.

"Let's just get you out of here for now," Cid replied. "Oh, and Mr. Lawrence said that I should help you, so you'll be an underboss of the Sunblazers now." "Eh? What? Why?!"

Kali flinched at Cid's words-she was going to be an underboss to these murderers?!

"What? Do you have a problem with that, Ms. Sturgeon?"

Cid was smiling, but from Kali's panicked perspective, he could well be threatening her!

"Oh, no, of course not." Kali shook her head repeatedly to save her skin.

"Hehe, as long as you agreed to it." Cid nodded and breathed a sigh of relief. "And here I was wondering what I should tell Mr. Lawrence if you refuse."

Kali was smiling, though it appeared an even more awkward expression than crying.

However, while she was at first resistant to her new position, she got used to it in just a week, even enjoying the privileges it afforded her.

After all, it turned out that the Sunblazers were not just gangsters, but they also owned substantial estate.

In fact, most members were not just goons and thugs, including Kali. While working as an underboss, she was also one of the executives of an insurance company, a far cry from the work she had under her father.

At the very least, she had more time and freedom, which was why she was deeply grateful to Frank and Kat, who got her out of the prison that was her family.

On the other hand, the Sturgeons were on the verge of falling apart.

Wilk was now more suspicious even after spending millions just to keep his son Patek alive, taking samples of his blood for a paternity test.

The results were shocking, to say the least, because neither Patek nor Kali were biologically related to Wilk! To make things worse, neither of those children shared the same father!

Wilk suffered a breakdown from the bombshell.

On the other hand, with Frank's influence, the best treatment and the most advanced equipment that Loggins Apothecary had to offer, Lauren was healthy and could get out of bed by himself in a week.

Kali often visited, and they were now both truly free from the Sturgeons and led a happy life together.

Naturally, Lauren did not forget Kat, his childhood friend-he owed her for a second shot at life.

And Kat, who returned to Zamri, was in turn aware that it was all only thanks to Frank.

As such, she behaved less childishly toward him now and was religiously devoted.

Still, she had no idea how to repay him.

After pondering for a few days, she eventually raised her glass to Frank during dinner at Cologne Court, even as Helen and the others looked on.
