"Wait, no, you misunderstand!"

Hardy promptly threw up his hands. "I mean, my son who's around Helen's age. He's working at a major company and has a bright future ahead of him."

Even as he spoke, Hardy was left dismayed inside.

If Helen and Gina were not so radically opposed to him, he certainly would like to give it a shot.

After all, Helen's beauty ranked her at the pinnacle of Draconia.

On top of that, her status and ice queen demeanor made her a target every man would want to conquer.

Even a geezer like Hardy was certainly scheming despite the age gap.

Nonetheless, Gina calmed down once Hardy explained himself, though Helen refused even before Gina could speak. "Thanks for the offer, Mr. Xinder, but Frank and I are close even though we're divorced. In fact, we'll remarry soon enough." Her refusal left Hardy making a face of disappointment.

That was when a handsome youth made their way toward them.

He was clearly popular among Gina's middle-aged girlfriends, and he flicked his bangs proudly as he turned toward Gina and Helen.

Naturally, he stiffened completely when he saw Helen, his gaze staying glued to her for a while.

"What are you looking at, brat?"

Hardy smacked his son's shoulder jokingly. "Don't tell me it's love at first sight? Give up already. Helen here is divorced, but she's close with her ex-husband and they'll remarry soon. You have no chance, kiddo." Getting the hint from his father right then, the youth came to his senses and shot an accusing look at his father.

Still, he politely offered Helen a handshake. "Hello. I'm Jackie Xinder-don't listen to my dad's nonsense. I'm only admiring your beauty and nothing else."

"Hello, Mr. Xinder." Helen accepted his handshake, seeing that he was down-to-earth and therefore was not repulsed.

In truth, Jackie was simply smarter than his father. "Your reputation precedes you, Ms. Lane. You're basically one of the east coast's finest, with the way you led Lanecorp to new heights by yourself.

"I've always admired girlbosses like you, Ms. Lane," he continued, even formally taking out a business card and passing it to Helen. "Here's my card. You can come hang out at my joint anytime you like..." Winking at Helen, he finished, "It's all on the house."

"All on the house?" Helen was hesitant, since the business card indicated it was a nightclub franchise.

"Hehe... Yes, everything's free. We usually don't charge beautiful women anything..."

Jackie chuckled and turned to smile at Gina too. "And that naturally applies to you as well, Madam Zonda."

Gina giggled. "Oh, does that make me beautiful too?"

"That's for sure!"

Jackie laughed. "I mean, you managed to get a flirt like my dad to change his ways and chase after you so relentlessly. How could you not be beautiful? Hell, forget that it happened twenty years ago-you're still beautiful now!" As his flattery struck a chord with Gina flawlessly, she immediately had an overwhelmingly positive impression of the kid.
