The next day, the board chairwoman's office at Lanecorp received two nitpicking guests in the form of Jade Zahn and Luna Lane, both from Helen's extended family from Laneville.

They were touching and poking everything, repeatedly lamenting Helen's tragic excuse for an office. Not only was there only one tea table for guests while everything else was expressly for work, but there was also a noticeable lack of antiques. Seated on the couch, Frank frowned at Jade and Luna as they continued to throw shade at everything. "That's how Helen always keeps her office. She's here to work, not to play. Did you come all the way to Zamri just to lecture her?" Luna pouted right then. "Tch. Who do you think you are? We're just dropping by for a visit."

Jade added coolly in turn, "A friend of mine is setting up a blind dare for Luna. A young entrepreneur working here in Zamri, I heard... that already makes him more reliable than some good-for-nothing living off a woman." Everyone could tell that Jade was naturally throwing shade at Frank, but he remained unaffected as he simply watched the women in turn.

Helen had left them in his care since she had to leave on a business trip for a few days.

Before she left, she told him to try his best not to upset them and to satisfy their demands where possible.

That meant Frank was now their bodyguard slash chaperone.

It was only natural that Frank suggested having someone else to do that instead. But Helen was worried and insisted that Frank do it, since she was concerned Jade and Luna would somehow cause trouble. Sighing, Frank asked Luna, "Alright, now that you've had your tour of Lanecorp Tower, why don't you head over to meet your new boyfriend?"

"What boyfriend?" Luna snapped, at once disgruntled. "I haven't even met the guy. Who knows if I'd be interested?'

"Luna."

Jade showed a rare moment of disapproval toward her daughter. "He's an entrepreneur with a reputation-he's successful in his own right even if he's nothing to brag about compared to our family. You should only decide after you meet him." Frank smiled in turn. "Actually, it's good to be prudent. After all, things didn't work out for you before being too trusting isn't necessarily good."

"What's that supposed to mean?!"

Both Jade and Luna wheeled on Frank, glaring at him viciously.

However, it was a dark page in Luna's history when it turned out that the boyfriend she met online was conning her all along.

It took her ages to get over it, so while Frank appeared to be advising her to be prudent, it sounded to Luna like Frank was mocking her for it.

On the other hand, Jade had the impression that Frank was mocking her connections.

Seeing that both mother and daughter were so unreasonable, Frank threw his hands up in surrender. "Alright, fine. I was out of line-you can arrange your itinerary yourself."

"Now that's better."

Seeing that Frank conceded, Luna smiled smugly, leaving him pursing his lips.

These two were really nothing more than overgrown infants, were they?

Still, remembering the troubled look Helen gave him before she left, Frank sighed at the immense difficulty of his task. To him, dealing with Luna and Jade was really no different from going straight to Lionheart Estate to challenge Simon Lionheart himself. And it was just the first day-the worst had yet to come.
