When Frank arrived at the abandoned office building in West City, Frank immediately spotted Scarface and Madfist lurking outside.

Madfist was frowning slightly. "What, you didn't bring anyone?"

Frank patted his chest and chuckled confidently. "Don't worry. You just have to watch the exit-I'll slip in from the back. Horey Lindt isn't getting away now." Madfist did not press the issue, seeing Frank's confidence.

"Shall we?"

On the other hand, Scarface was ready to charge inside, having gotten impatient from waiting.

Frank smiled but held up a hand to stop him. "Patience. You two just have to watch the exits-I'll deal with this myself."

"Wait, I'm still staying here?" Scarface scowled, scratching his head.

"Alright, don't mope so much. I'll buy you both nice cars once we're done here!"

Frank chuckled and disappeared in a whoosh.

The move left Madfist stunned-it was not surprising why the brat was so confident, since he could walk the talk!

"Hey, you said it, not me!" Scarface exclaimed, trying to keep his voice down.

However, Frank was already gone.

Madfist then studied the exits, musing to himself for a while and pointing at a part of the wall around the building.

"You should watch that spot," he told Scarface.

"Why?" Scarface looked at him in turn, puzzled.

Madfist explained, "I have a hunch that our target is cunning enough to prepare alternative routes of escape, so I'll watch the front entrance, while you keep an eye on the side."

It was quite reasonable, and for the sake of a new car, Scarface strode over to the walls, rubbing his nose.

"Hmm."

Madfist nodded in approval as Scarface left some footprints as he walked.

Then, he lay sprawled on the ground, slowing his heart rate and silencing his breaths, waiting for the kidnapper to walk straight to him.

-

Whoosh!

Meanwhile, Frank was dashing at breakneck speeds.

He was at once frustrated and furious after Helen misblamed him, and all he wanted to do was to catch Horey and prove his innocence.

That was why he was not holding back at all-he was pushing his Ascendant rank abilities to the limit, dashing along the wall and roof of the building as a black blur.

A normal person would presume that he was a gust of wind that had just breezed past them, and not a person.

"Hmph. Imbeciles, all of them!"

Horey was glowering in one of the rooms in the building, her expression impassive as she lowered her hood.

She stared fixedly at Gavin Lane, who was tied firmly to the wall.

Fwip!

Whipping out a knife from her boots, Horey strode up to Gavin, dropping to a crouch as she said coolly, "Did you know that Helen Lane set a trap for me, and with a fake Bloodcrane Spiritbloom on top of that?! What do you think is a fitting punishment for you?" Gavin, however, could not speak even as he stared at the sharp knife held just in front of his face.

He closed his eyes, resigning himself to his fate.

"Hah!" Horey laughed. "Did you think I'm just going to kill you? No... I'd have no hand to play without you, and I'm still counting on Frank Lawrence to give up the Bloodcrane Spiritbloom. If anything, I guess I've been too kind before." Gritting her teeth, she slashed downward on Gavin's hand!
