However, there was not even time for Frank to throw the explosives out.

His eyes narrowing coldly, he instead gathered all the explosives in his arms as Gavin looked on in shock.

"Argh!!!" he bellowed, just as the explosives detonated with a resounding crash.

Bang!

A tremendous ball of flame erupted from the top floor of the abandoned office building, followed by a towering dark mushroom cloud, a shocking sight under the moonlight. "Hehe..."

Horey Lindt, who had leapt downstairs, laughed savagely as she looked up at the explosion and limped toward the front door, coughing blood as she did. "Bleurgh... That's what you get... for fucking with me, Frank Lawrence! I will get the Bloodcrane Spiritbloom, one way or another..."

She had broken a leg, and her lung was pierced by a broken rib when she leapt down the building, and blood trickled out of her nostrils as she breathed.

"I can get to Helen Lane now that you're gone... the Bloodcrane Spiritbloom is mine anyway... Definitely..."

Her ramblings suddenly trailed off as she looked up at the front door.

There stood a dark figure, not exactly tall but wearing a security guard uniform.

He looked just like any other elderly security guard that one could replace at any corner in Riverton.

And yet, when Horey saw the seemingly unassuming geezer, her pupils dilated and she froze.

"W-What are you doing here..." she murmured.

"Hehe. The world is really small, huh? Horey..." The elderly security guard stepped out from the shadows, allowing the moon to shine on his face.

It was none other than Madfist himself, and Horey stumbled backward in disbelief.

Her eyes were fixed, never blinking once as she stared at Madfist in confusion. "N-No, this is impossible. You were taken to Blackwater! How did you make it out?" "It's all thanks to Mr. Lawrence's favor."

Madfist then sighed calmly. "It's been years, Horey. Don't you have anything to tell me?"

"I... I..."

Horey tried but could only stutter, and she eventually flashed a miserable smile. "Father..."

"Don't call me that you're not my daughter." Madfist snorted. "You've always been smart ever since you were a child. I am at fault for not guiding you to the right path." Looking downward, he asked calmly, "The child in your belly is that demon's, isn't it?"

"Yes..." Horey replied, hanging her head.

"Abort it. Then I will let you leave."

Horey looked up sharply right then. "You know that I don't have the potential to reach the Ascendant rank in this lifetime, Father, let alone Transcendent rank. This is my last chance..." "You still refuse to understand."

Her words only left Madfist shaking his head. "How far do you think you can venture on this path of blasphemy? You'd only become yet another plague upon Draconia's soil. And did you really think that Cloudnine Sect, as important as they are, wouldn't be aware of what happened to you?"

"Hahaha..."

Horey laughed bitterly, and she slowly advanced on Madfist. "Father... You may have raised me, but I chose this path, and I will see it to the end even if it's blasphemous! So step aside, or I will make you!"
