The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage by Chu -
Chapter 1849
All Frank thought of Governor Quill was that he had a troubled life plagued with troubles he could not express much and was hence forced to live in solitude.
In fact, that would be his opinion of Governor Quill, even if the man was not his grandfather he had always respected his elders.
Nonetheless, Saul's cold expression did not ease despite hearing what Frank said-if anything, he looked even more vicious.
"You brat!" he snapped. "Do you really think that someone who has lived as long as I have won't be able to tell that you're being passive-aggressive?!" "What?"
Passive-aggressive?
While Frank was left utterly confused, Saul thought he was just faking it and chuckled coolly.
"Fine, I'll spell it out for you!"
Saul spoke confidently, even as Alba and Cara looked on in confusion. "You're just worried that our family would pressure and stop you from taking the governor's office. That's why you're trying to look soft and mislead us, so that we'll let our guard down! In reality... haha!" Frank narrowed his eyes as he understood-this uncle of his was really paranoid and overthinking everything.
"I'm not what you think I am," Frank said bluntly. "So allow me to reiterate-I'm not interested in Governor Quill's authority or your family's riches. I'm here because I promised Grandfather that I won't let Megan die. I wouldn't come here otherwise, so you don't have to speculate about my intentions. I will be gone as soon as I'm done treating her!"
Despite Frank's bluntness, Saul remained cold, shaking his head and laughing. "Since you say you don't belong here, then you can leave! Megan doesn't need you... Hell, you won't have to help even if she dies!" "Saul..."
Alba appeared hesitant when he heard that.
Saul shot him a look right then. "What, aren't you confident in the foreign doctor you brought in?"
"No... Of course not..."
Alba breathed a sigh of relief at Saul's reminder.
So they were not letting his daughter die... That had really scared him.
"In other words, Mr. Lawrence-you can leave now," Saul then continued, biting down hard on the name Lawrence, clearly to tell him that he was a Lawrence and not a Quill.
Frank hung his head and muttered under his breath, "I'm just speechless. How short-sighted..."
"What was that?!"
Cara, however heard him and
pointed at him as she snapped, "It's a blessing that we're allowing you to leave! You should be on your knees, thanking our family's generosity! Insult us again, and even the governor won't be able to protect you!"
"Exactly!"
Alba reared his chin and shouted, "You were never a part of this family, not after my sister Tiffany eloped with you father back then! You're a bastard who doesn't deserve to set foot in our house! Now take your wheres with you and get out!"
"That's right!" Cara kept hollering, her brows furrowing as she
remembered something else. "Don't you ever come back once you step out of our gates! Don't ever contact the governor either, or tell the public that you're one of us! Understand
that we don't welcome bastards like you!"
