The Great Medical Saint -
Chapter 243
Silas looked at Matthew in surprise. "All the time. It's always kind of like this, but I'm the one who would get hit.
"I didn't think that you'd hit him and that he'd be scared off. Now I know that they can be scared, too. But they'll definitely get their revenge. You're not safe."
Matthew said nonchalantly, "Trouble will come anyway. Why should we tolerate him?"
Silas nodded. He was really happy seeing the associate dean get slapped. But when he thought of the potential trouble to come, he frowned.
When their neighbors heard that a child had dislocated his arm and gotten treated for free, more sick people came looking for Silas to help. None of their issues were serious.
Silas only prescribed medicines to a few of them. He sent most of them home to rest at home by themselves.
Baxter returned to the hospital. He gnashed his teeth, remembering how he'd been slapped in front of his officials. He called over the security guard, Joseph Lowe.
"A new clinic has opened in front of the hospital. Buy some of their medicine and then claim that it's fake. After that, smash the shop to pieces."
Joseph had done things like this before, but not in this manner. He would usually get someone to plant fake medicine in the clinic. After that, he would go to get treated, and use the fake medicine to report them.
"It's probably not the best idea to smash the shop, Mr. Paulson. I think the previous method was better."
Baxter said crossly, "Just do as I say. Bring a few men with you. Don't just smash the shop. You gotta beat up the owner too, and give it your all.
"Isn't your brother a medical representative? If I approve of the medicine that he's promoting, he'll receive at least a million dollars in royalties."
Joseph was overjoyed. "Thank you so much, Mr. Paulson. He was just venting about not having enough money to buy a house. With this money, he'll be able to marry and get a house.
"On behalf of him, I'm thanking you. I promise to carry out your orders."
The neighbors around Peace Clinic were witnessing Silas' medical skills. They spread the word that an eccentric doctor was charging low fees for really good treatments. As a result, more than a dozen patients came knocking.
A queue of about 20 feet formed outside the clinic. Matthew watched as Silas worked, affirming what he'd learned from his mentor about the Gugleni techniques.
The Gugleni Sect believed that life
was a delicate balance between regeneration and decay. Someone's regenerative abilities would worsen as they grew older, and death occurred when that person's energy was unable to regenerate any longer.
Some people from the Guglenic Sect believed that if someone could replace a way to regenerate their energy forever, they would be immortal.
Matthew had also studied modern science. He believed that the Gugleni hypothesis was similar to the concept of telomerase.
As someone grew older, their cells began dying off faster. After reaching middle age, someone would not be able to recover from illnesses as easily.
People believed that as long as someone could somehow prolong the lifespan of their regenerative abilities, they would be able to live for a long time.
As Matthew pondered the similarities between these two streams of science, a group of people barged into the shop. They did not queue up. They rushed in, complaining that they needed a doctor.
He watched quietly, waiting to see how Silas would handle this.
Silas was in the middle of diagnosing someone. When he saw the noisy group, he frowned. "If you're here to be treated, you need to line up.'
Joseph pointed at Silas and said, "Are you blind? Who says I didn't line up? I came yesterday!"
Silas looked at him coldly and said, "I just opened for business today. How could you be here yesterday?"
Joseph was shocked. He didn't think
that they had just opened today. He coughed. "I was sick yesterday. It's not my fault you weren't open. I'm really busy. You can't afford to waste my time! Hurry and prescribe me some medicine."
Silas sensed that he was simply here to cause trouble. He glanced at Matthew, who was sitting there quietly. Exasperated, Silas told his patient to wait for just a minute. Then, he said to Joseph, "Give me your arm."
Joseph stretched out his arm. "Hurry up. I'm busy."
Silas prodded on his muscles, frowning. "You're not even sick."
Joseph smiled coldly. "I have a toothache. Can you determine that by poking at my arm?"
Silas knew that the man was just playing with him at this point. His expression grew serious. "I'm a doctor. Of course, I'd be able to detect a toothache. I will not be giving you any medicine if you're not sick."
