The Great Showbiz Commando -
Chapter 44 Exposing Themselves
Sunny had been giving herself psychological hints, hoping that she wouldn't be too flustered and expose herself in front of the policemen.
"Ding Dong, Ding Dong." An hour later, her doorbell rang.
Sunny was so frightened that she jumped up from the sofa. She hurried to the door and looked outside through the peephole. She saw two policemen in uniforms standing at the door. She patted her chest and took a deep breath to calm down.
Sunny opened the door and looked at the policemen, "Hello, sir. What can I do for you?"
The policemen took a look at Sunny and said, "We have received a case report. We come here to enquire you about something and make a record. Can we go inside and have a talk?"
"Oh, sure. Come in." Sunny opened the door and let the police in.
Sunny closed the door and walked to the kitchen. "Have a seat. I'll get you a glass of water."
"Well, don't bother. We'll leave after asking something." The policeman sat on the sofa and waved his hand.
Sunny said coquettishly, "It's okay. Wait a moment."
The policeman sitting on the sofa saw a laptop on the tea table, and the screen showed the home page of Muriel's micro-blog. He immediately poked his colleague's arm with his elbow. "What's wrong?" The policeman who was looking around at Sunny's house turned around and asked in confusion.
"Look!" The policeman lowered his voice and pointed at the computer on the table.
"Muriel's micro-blog?"
At this time, Sunny came over with two glasses of water. Her smile froze on her face when she saw the laptop on the table. She remembered that her screen was on the page of Muriel's micro-blog. Sunny looked at the two policemen nervously. She didn't know if they had found this. She quickly walked over and put the glass beside the computer. When she took back her hand, she knocked over the cup seemingly unintentionally.
All the water in the cup was knocked over on the laptop, and the screen of the laptop was black in an instant.
"Oh, my God!" Sunny took some tissues to wipe her laptop in a hurry.
The policemen looked at each other meaningfully, and they also picked up a piece of tissue to help Sunny wipe the computer.
After a while, Sunny threw the wet tissue into the trash can and said apologetically, "I'm really sorry for what happened. I'll get you another glass of water."
"No, thanks. We are leaving soon."
Sunny peeped at the computer, smoothed her hair that fell to her ears, and pretended to be confused. "What do you want to ask me?"
The policeman asked straightforwardly, "Miss Sunny, it seems that you are not surprised at all about our arrival."
Sunny's pupils dilated slightly. She smiled awkwardly and said, "Well, I was indeed surprised."
"What did you do from eight o'clock last night? Who did you meet?" The policeman took a pen and wrote down the notes.
"I watched TV at home last night. I didn't see anyone."
The policeman continued to ask, "What's the conflict between you and Muriel?"
"Well, I have no conflict with her." Sunny was so nervous that she completely forgot that she had set a trap for Muriel before, and the video and audio had been forwarded to a big website. Sunny's explanation obviously was a lie.
The policeman looked at Sunny and asked, "Then why did you frame Muriel? As far as I know, it's your first time to know each other. Do you have any conflicts?"
Sunny frowned and said, "Because Director Quentin wanted Muriel to replace me, I'm not willing to do such a thing on impulse. I'm also very sorry."
"Is there no other reason?"
Sunny shook her head and said, "No."
"Have you ever heard that Muriel had a conflict with anyone in the film crew?"
Sunny thought for a while and replied, "No."
"Only you?" The policeman asked, raising his eyebrows.
"Yes." Sunny came to herself and hurriedly waved her hand, "I didn't..."
Sunny and the police looked at each other and almost spilled the beans. She quickly changed her words, "I was too impulsive before and received legal punishment. I have realized my mistake."
The police kept a record of something on the notebook. Sunny couldn't see clearly from where she was sitting, so she stretched her neck. "When did you see Muriel for the last time?"
"Uh... It was the first and last time I saw her when she was my substitute in the Love of Ghosts and Goblins crew.
After the police finished their notes, they stood up and said, "Okay, thank you for your cooperation. It's getting late. We'll go back first."
"Okay, take care." Sunny closed the
door and strode to the coffee table to see the laptop. She didn't expect that she had forgotten to put it away. She didn't know whether the police had seen it or not. She was so angry that she wanted to smash the computer.
The policeman came out of the apartment building and looked back at Sunny's room, "What do you think?"
"Sunny is really suspicious. I think she knocked over the cup on purpose."
"I think so, too." The police got in the car and drove back to the police station.
On the other side of the film set, the trace inspection began to check everything. The police called the members of the stage group one after another to the meeting room for inquiry. Max was in the back row. The more colleagues finished their notes, the more suffering he felt.
Finally, the police called out Max's name. He walked into the meeting room and sat opposite the police. He swallowed nervously.
"How long have you been working with this team?"
"About five years."
"How is the leader of the stage props? Has he ever argued with anyone?
Max tilted his head and thought for a while. Then he shook his head and said, "The group leader is very nice and seldom quarrels with others."
"Did you help Muriel and Lindy tie up the wire?"
"Yes." Max's hand under the table gripped the palm of his left hand nervously.
"Did you replace anything wrong with the wire?"
Sweat trickled down Max's forehead. "I don't feel anything wrong."
When the policeman saw Max
sweating, he looked up at the air
conditioner on the wall of the office confusedly. It was twenty-two
degrees Celsius, and the
temperature was very low. "Why are
you sweating so much?"
Max reached out and wiped his head, only to replace that his body was full of sweat. He smiled awkwardly and said, "I'm a little weak, and it's easy for me to sweat."
Without any doubt, the policeman continued, "Where are you from eight o'clock last night to today? What did you do?
"I went back to sleep as soon as I finished work last night. Then I got up early in the morning and began to move the lights out. That's all I have done."☐☐☐☐☐
