THE GREAT SURPRISE
Chapter 15

The elevator stopped on the second floor and Suzy smiled, ‘Here’s my stop, I’ll see you guys later’ and walked off into the bar area. After a couple of hours of serving guests, a short lunch, Suzy was now, finally resting in her bed. She rolled over tiredly and picked up her laptop opening: Winter Wonderland Wedding document and started typing.

‘I bumped into Matt and his friend, Declan; I’m assuming his best friend in the elevator. Before my boss, Tyler showed up. I asked Matt how he fell in love with Skylar and how did they meet. The two met at a University in London. He was paired up do a marketing project with his fiancé, Skylar and her best friend Chloe. After hanging with them at a local pub he learnt how down to earth and caring Skylar was. When Chloe fall ill and couldn’t make it, Skylar and Matt spend the day alone at his place. They worked on the project and ended up falling in love with each other slowly and sweetly onto this present day. Matt feels wedding jitters at the moment, though, he’s not the bride, he’s overly excited to marry the woman of his dreams,’ she wrote.

Suzy saved the document about to shut down her laptop, her phone rang. Observing the caller ID, she realised it was Ms Harmsworth. ‘Only have two-thirds of the article, it’s not completed yet and she’s calling now,’ she muttered totally freaking out and calmed down before she answered.

‘Ms Harmsworth? Good evening,’ Suzy greeted cheerfully.

Chloe replied, ‘Evening to you, I would like a copy of what you have so far, Suzy. Can you send it to me, right now?’

‘Of course, I’ll email it now, Ms Harmsworth,’ Suzy responded.

Chloe said, ‘Can’t wait! Enjoy your evening, bye’ and laughed.

‘Thank you, you too,’ Suzy answered and she ended their call. ‘I hope she likes what I’ve got so far or else I’m in deep trouble,’ she told herself.

Heading to her Gmail account she sent the attach document to her executive editor and crossed her fingers that she’ll love it as she pressed sent. She switched off her laptop and took a shower before changing into her sexy silk pajamas with a robe. After eating dinner she went into her balcony admiring the view before she spotted something strange. It was Tyler walking into the snowy forest.

‘Why is he going out there this last? What if a bear attacks him?’ She spoke. Then she thought of her deer shifter, her friend, ‘I wonder if Roy is safe. I haven’t seen him since the poachers’ incident. Maybe I shouldn’t worry too much about him. He can take care of himself, he’s a deer after all,’ she said softly and then laughed. However, she was deeply worried over Tyler, ‘I can’t go out of there, maybe I should wait in the empty cabin for him to return’ and she ran inside entering her bedroom grabbing her yellow scarf, blue jeans, white T-shirt and boots with a quilt blanket.

Suzy exited her room and took the escape exit and went to the empty cabin next door. It was off-grid style, she frowned at the lack of upgrades. She fetched the pieces of words tossed it in the fireplace. Suzy took her lighter sliced a piece of the candle with her pocket-knife and lighted it. Cocooning it with the woods like a volcano to prevent the flame from outing. She started fanning slowly until it was engulfed in the amber flames. The cabin was starting to warm up. She made herself a cup of coffee and approached the window with a chair and leaned the chair-back against the stone wall and sat down looking through the glass. Hoping to see Tyler come out from the forest and bust him.

‘He would stay there until morning?’ Suzy asked herself. ‘I hope not. He could die out there in the cold.’
