The Headmaster Alpha's Mate
The Headmaster Alpha’s Mate Chapter 70

Chloe lay on the large super-kingsized bed staring at the ceiling as Zander appeared from the shower, his towel hanging low on his waist.

“Are you okay princess?” Zander uttered softly as he sat on the bed beside her.

“Remember when all I had to worry about was ordering fluffy fairlights to wind you up for pissing me off?” Chloe sighed.

Zander reached out and stroked her bare arms with his finger tips.

“It’s going to be okay, I promise princess, it will all be okay.” Zander whispered softly into her ear.

“Zander, what about poor Caroline? It has been three days since Duncan left, and Andrew still has to keep her sedated most of the time, she is in so much pain. On top of that are Faith and Luke. I thought they would be home by now. For f**k’s sake, the games start tomorrow, and the Packs arrive today, yet they are not back, and I cannot help but worry. Ethan isn’t saying a lot, and has a smile for everyone, but I can see in his eyes he is distraught, wondering why they are not home yet.”A stray tear fell down Chloe’s cheek, this whole thing was beginning to overwhelm her.

“I know Chloe, but, Caroline may never recover. All we can do is our best for her, and make sure we look after Ellie and Tom. We need to be prepared for that. As for Faith and Luke, I keep trying to open up the link to them, but as yet there are still not within range. Alpha Liam is arriving early this morning, I am hoping he has some news for us.” Zander exhaled loudly, he too was more than a little concerned about his pack ambassadors.

“We need to focus on the positives. If Faith and Luke had been killed, Ethan would feel it, and to be honest, so would we, so whatever is going on we know they are still alive, and that should give us a little hope.” Zander tried to encourage his mate, although with each passing hour he felt hope slipping away from him, but he would never admit that to her, she was already going through enough.

“Have you noticed that Cheryl is always at the hospital?” Zander asked, trying to change the subject.

“Yeah, she is staying there so that when Caroline is awake she can talk to her.” Chloe smiled.

“Josh told me that he went to give Cheryl a hug the other day and Andrew growled, he apologised after, but he growled at an Alpha.” Zander smiled.

“Yeah, Nicki said something about that, I wonder why?” Chloe asked, turning onto her side and sliding under Zander’s arm, her chin pressed onto his hard chest.

Zander grinned down at her, and raised his eyebrows.

“I have a theory,” he smiled.

Chloe looked up at him, her brows furrowed, wondering what he was thinking, then a light went on in her brain and her eyes widened, and her mouth formed a perfect O.

“They are seeing each other?” she questioned, then let out a small giggle.

“If I am right, it is slightly more than seeing each other, I think our lovely Cheryl has a second chance mate.” Zander smiled,

“Is that possible? She is human!” Chloe asked. She had heard of werewolves getting a second chance, but not humans.

“It is rare, but given she is so integrated with our packs, it makes sense.” Zander nodded.

“Well, he had best treat her better than her last mate, and that fuckwit of a husband, else I will chop his c**k off and feed it to the fishes.” Chloe shrugged.

“Such a violent little princess,” Zander teased.

“What? I am not that nasty, I will let Ethan heal it, and give him another one. I will just use my Luna voice and tell him to make it very, very small and thin.” Chloe grinned mischievously.

Zander burst out laughing, pulling her closer to his chest.

“I actually fully believe you would do that. You are a woman not to be messed with, my princess”.

“What can I tell you, I went to a rough human school and, well, it was survival of the fittest.” Chloe laughed.

“Well, I suppose we had best get up, I have a pack of hungry wolves to feed.” Chloe stretched and got out of bed.

Pulling on a pair of leggings and a plain white t-shirt, she gathered her long purple hair into a messy bun on top of her head, then slipped on a pair of pumps and blowing her mate a k**s she headed out the door to the kitchen.

Nicki was standing pouring cereal into the large glass canisters, ready to put them out onto the table for breakfast. Sandra Doyle the cook was busy frying the bacon and placing it into the large metal containers, as Chloe walked in and went straight to the other hob and started to fry the eggs. The other Omega’s were running around, some chopping fruit, others grabbing the endless cartons of milk, whilst more were making endless rounds of toast and pots of tea.

Chloe smiled, they were working together like a well-oiled machine, unlike the first day she and Nicki had turned up to help. To say the Omegas were shocked that the Royal Luna and Luna of the Sliverback pack were helping them in the kitchen because they were missing Caroline and Ellie was an understatement. At first, Chloe had felt more like a hindrance than a help, until she gathered them all around and told the omegas that she was not. Princess, or Luna in the kitchen, she was simply Chloe, and they had full authority to tell her what to do so she could help. Apparently, she had used her Luna voice, not that she realised, but still it had worked, and now each morning she was under the orders of Sandra, and not one of the kitchen staff called her princess, Queen or Luna. Chloe had also organised for those who were in the Full Moon house and wanted to experience what real leadership entailed, to help out at lunch and dinner. Some had complained, but seeing their Princess and another Luna stepping in, they thought better of it, and suddenly there were a lot of helpers for the omegas, which when the games started they would need because the pack would be full to the brim.

Once all the food was prepared, Chloe quickly ran out into the pack grounds to get some training with Delphine. The pair of them sparred for half an hour, as Delphine wanted to save her energy for her first fight in the ring tomorrow, plus Chloe’s power was increasing every day, and she could not afford to get an injury.

Finished with the training, Chloe ran into the shower, then quickly got changed into more respectable clothes, well respectable for her, ripped black jeans, a purple mesh top over a tight black vest, and her beloved doc martin boots, then ran down to meet with Lacey and Nicki to be part of the welcoming committee for the visiting packs, grabbing a sausage sandwich Sandra had freshly made for her because she missed breakfast.

Zander sat in his office, running his fingers through his hair, letting out a frustrated breath. Nobody had seen or heard anything from Faith and Luke in two days. The last anyone knew was they went to a meeting with Amanda and Oswald, and Alpha Liam’s ambassadors said they had shifted and ran out of the clearing heading towards the pack. They should have returned yesterday morning, but they had simply vanished into thin air.

“Zander, we do not know what was said at that meeting. Maybe they are lying low for a bit, and will be in touch soon.” Josh tried to calm his brother down.

“They would have found a way to let us know if that was the case,” Robin stated, his tone matter of fact.

“We are running around in circles here, and with the other packs arriving we cannot afford to send any trackers to replace them.” Zander growled out in frustration.

“What about a trip to see Hannah? Could she give us something?” Josh asked. He hated seeing his normally put-together brother looking so defeated and frustrated.

“That may be a good call, Zander. You and Josh are needed here today, but maybe I could slip out for the afternoon.” Robin suggested.

“It is not ideal. You are to be introduced as the new Alpha of the new Silvercrescent Pack. If you are not part of the welcoming committee, questions will be raised.” Zander let out another deep sigh.

Chloe knocked on the door then popped her head round, smiling at Zander. She could feel the frustration through the mate bond, and decided she needed to go and calm him down.

Closing the door behind her, she walked to Zander and sat on his lap, allowing him to breathe in her scent. His tense muscles instantly began to relax, as he nuzzled his nose into her neck, then placed a soft k**s under her ear.

“Thank you” he whispered, glad of the peace his mate’s presence brought him.

“Still no news?” Chloe asked.

Each of the Alpha’s shook their heads.

“If only we could send out trackers,” Josh g*****d.

“We can” Chloe said, looking at the three of them.

“No Chloe, we cannot afford to have them away from the pack, especially with so many coming here and not all are friendly. I will not have your protection and safety put under threat.” Zander g*****d at her.

Chloe shook her head, and then smiled at them.

“We don’t need to send them, and nobody need know what we are doing. We can have the trackers from the academy do a task today. In preparation for their competition, we do not say who they are tracking, just give them the scent of Faith and Luke, and see what they come up with.” Chloe grinned.

Zander looked at her, his lips turning up at the corners.

“Why didn’t we think of that?” Josh shouted out, as Robin grinned at his cousin with pride.

“Because you all lack my awsomeness,” Chloe giggled.

“It is perfect, the Alphas would never think that pups from the academy would be any threat if they had done something with Faith and Luke. However, they will need some protection,” Zander stated.

“Easy, send Gavin and Kris, and possibly Ethan, we can trust them to watch over everyone and feed information back to us as they get it.” Chleo grinned again.

“Okay, let’s get them in here, Josh, who are the most promising tackers in the school?” Zander asked.

“I will contact them all, and set up the challenge as head boy. Hopefully, by tonight we have some news.”

As they began to go through the list of names of who they could send to covertly track Faith and Luke, a knock sounded on the door.

Quickly, they pushed all the papers into the top drawer of the desk before Zander shouted his permission to enter.

Ethan walked in, closing the door behind him, then bowed his head in respect.

“Alpha’s, Luna, I have some news.” He said, smiling brightly.

“Take a seat Ethan.” Zander beckoned the young man to the chair in front of his desk.

Ethan sat down, then passed a small note to Zander.

“Mum always said if they went missing at any point that they would contact me via a book review on the App. I took a look today, and found a comment from a user named EFL2006. I applied sypha that every the corresponding letter form the amount of words for example the first word you take the first letter the second word you take the first and second letters, so on and so forth, and this is the message, It was sent 2 hours ago.

Zander opened the paper.

“AB has Witch, Killed OC, bk soon.”

“Okay, is this the only copy of the message, Ethan?” Zander asked.

“Yes, Alpha.” Ethan nodded.

Taking a lighter out of his desk, Zander burnt the decoded message.

“Not a word of this to any one, but it is clear we now know exactly who we are up against,” Zander growled.

Robin snapped his head up towards Zander.

“Lacey is at the front of the packhouse. The first of the Alphas and their warriors who are taking part in the games have arrived.”

“Okay, let’s put on a show, and Ethan… good work, keep an eye out for any more messages.” Zander smiled, then took hold of Chloe’s hand and walked out of the office to go greet their guests.
