Reviera

I had worked hard. I had gathered the remaining tribes of hunters, just as he had said. I gathered witches. I made the sacrifices. Looking in the mirror now, I couldn’t help but smile. My red curls fell around me, my dark eyes lined with charcoal. I wore a black dress that stuck to my body like tar, and pooled at my feet. Turning away, I walked to the circle drawn on the stone floor. He should be ready now.

I dragged a hunter’s knife, my father’s favorite, out of my dress folds. It was a long, and jagged blade with a handle made of bone and onyx. It glinted dangerously in the light, and he memory of his murder came to mind. I giggled, remembering the way his eyes had bulged with shock when he realized he had been defeated. Mother had gone with much more elegance. I sliced a thick laceration on my palm and turned slowly in the circle, letting the b***d make a crimson ring around me.

“Moantus lifias todum. Cremphar jodum tekili. Dogkna Compilli Ragnarok,” I chanted the familiar words, letting the smoke rise from my b***d, dark and slithering like snakes as they rose through the air. A figure started to form out of the smoke, the slithering fumes forming together, more and more until it took shape. I smiled as the smoke finally settled into a silhouette. I bowed low, gracefully before him. I could feel his heated gaze on my body, clad in that barely there dress.

” My lord,” I addressed him, my voice almost a purr.

“Reviera,” he spoke “Are plans almost ready?”

“Yes, my lord. You will be here with me by your side shortly.”

I looked up at my master’s eyes, seeing the unending darkness that enveloped the iris. His face was beautiful, god like. It was easy to worship a face like that. His body was even better, carved out of onyx, and just as strong.

“Good, my pet, I grow restless in my prison with the promise of freedom so close,” He said approaching closer. I slowly got to my feet, placing a hand on his bare chest, feeling a shock of coldness run quickly down my spine.

“Of course, my lord, Ragnarok. I am just as eager for you to be here,” I tell him, peering up through my eye lashes.

He looks at me, coal eyes full of l**t, but then he paused. A slither of annoyance went through me, but I made sure to mask it well.

“I must warn you though, pet. A woman much like yourself, but then, also the exact opposite will oppose you.”

I pulled away slightly, anger coursing through.

“Please my Lord, do not hold back this information. Tell me up front.”

“Your sister will interfere with your plans, Riviera. She is the queen of the Gifted and she plans to end your schemes, and she is powerful enough to succeed,” He said, his face turning stone cold as he backed away from me , then the smoke disbursed abruptly, signaling his leave.

A scream of frustration left my lips, as I gripped my red curls. That brat that had disappeared into the woods. I thought the wolves had finished her off, but I guess I was wong. My sister was alive, and once again, I will have to kill her. This time, there will be no running though.

Vera

With only weeks to prepare our people, Rider and I trained quickly. With the threat of the world’s impending doom, it didn’t take much for everyone to be fully motivated. Rider worked with the wolves, and I worked with the Gifted. It was interesting: werewolves’ powers are physical, but the gifted were mental for the most part. Being away from Ri was harder now that we had been reunited, and whenever we were together, we always seemed to be connected. His hand on my waist or in my own, he embracing me from behind etc. Night time, when we were alone was a more passionate affair. Being with my mate was my haven, and I never wanted to part from him. But I had a job to do, and I couldn’t back away from my responsibilities.

“Good morning beautiful,” a voice husky from sleep whispered behind me. A small smile graced my face as I cuddled deeper into my Mate’s arms.

“Good morning,” I whispered back, in complete bliss.

Sweet k****s started being pressed on my neck and shoulder, his soft warm lips making patterns with his mouth.

“Mmm…” I said, enjoying his touch.

Then he grazed my mark. My whole body arched as my eyes rolled, a suffocated m**n leaving me. I felt his mouth smirk against my skin as his tongue languorously stroked my mark. I whimpered, squirming against him. His arms snaked tighter against me, holding me in place while he attacked my mark. Right before I let out a loud m**n, a knock sounded on the door. I slapped a hand over my face, and Ri let out an annoyed growl.

“Queen Vera, training is ready for the Alpha,” Tristen said from the other side of the door. He learned his lesson on barging in after the first time he walked in on us.

“Thank you, Tristen!” I yelled back. I heard his footsteps walk away, before I turned to look at Rider.

“What do you think about us switching groups today?” I questioned.

He blanched.

“I really don’t know much about the Gifted,” he said, looking slightly uncomfortable.

“That’s the point, Ri,” I said, kissing his chin.

He looked hesitant but agreed.

We got ready for the day before going our separate ways.

The walk to the wolf training center was a sentimental one. I remember when I first came to this pack, leaving my The Lightened Horizon Pack. I thought that I was never enough, that being human made me a pathetic existence. I didn’t think it was possible for me to ever be accepted by more than four werewolves, but then I came here. I remember the love and acceptance I felt. This pack had caught my heart. This place had become my home.

My feet glided across the ground, not making contact with the Earth as I levitated, but the plants followed me, like a sunflower always facing the sun. As I drew closer to the training grounds, I saw a large group of wolves in their human skin huddled around, chatting and waiting.

“Good morning,” I greeted pleasantly. They all turned to me at once.

“Luna,” they said as one, Bowing. At first the title had made me uncomfortable, I wasn’t sure if I could own up to the responsibility, and I didn’t feel worthy of the respect that came with it, but now it fit like a glove and feels right.

“Today we will do a few exercises and then, I will tell you what to expect and how to fight back,” I say, bracing my arms behind my back.

“Yes, Luna!”

“Are there any questions?”

A timid hand shot up.

“Yes,” I said with a smile. It was a young she wolf, maybe two years younger than I.

“Is it true? Do you have powers like the Gifted?” She asked, curious but shy.

In response, I felt the rush of power as I lifted my hand. From the forest, a fallen branch flew into my grasp as I showed them my telekinesis. A gasp was heard in the crowd.

If that’s it, we will begin. I said through the mind link.

And so it we began.

………….

The wolves were well into training by the time Tristen approached me.

“You haven’t told him everything.” It wasn’t a question.

“I don’t want to hurt him anymore than I already have.”

“He’ll still be devastated, Vera,” Tristen stated, a bit annoyed.

“I know that. But I want our moments to be happy ones, not scared. Am I not entitled to that much?” I asked, sending a glare to my right hand man.

“Isn’t he entitled to the truth? To defeat your sister, you will die. He deserves to know.” The words seemed to blacken the skies and the wind that blew past us turned rough, no longer a soft breeze.

“I know, Tristan. Trust me, I do. I love him and I just got him back. I want to hold on to the fantasy of a forever with him for just a bit longer, you know?” I said with a shaky smile.

An overwhelming sadness seemed to surface in his eyes as he let out a sigh.

“I understand, my queen.”

“I’ll tell him soon, I promise.”
